Starting to clean junk haylage out of our 60ft Harvestore silo, changing 4240 oil, steamer baring 30% UAN on triticale and more. Thank you for watching.
Please be soooooo careful inside those silos... a young man with his whole life in front of him was killed inside a harvestore silo last November in Wisconsin doing exactly what you were doing. Please be careful and never ever ever do that alone. The world is desperate for people of your character and work ethic , Eric. Thanks for everything you do
you're telling him to be careful in the silo after he said in the video that one needs to be careful in the silo, i'm surprised you didn't give him a great tip to use a fan to blow fresh air in the silo.
Heck I’m out everyday but my job requires it,but i stay away from people when i can and have done that long before this so called virus thing started.. be safe in Seattle and stay sane. We’ll all get thru this..
yes, according to country life only old people work, very few young people do anything at all. i think you need to get off the youtube and experience the world out there buddy.
what he needs for free chocolate milk (which i think he already has from the milk inspector) is a youtube channel which in case you missed it he also has :P
Hey, I'm a Studentfarmer from DK (Denmark) I was wondering if you maybe could talk about feeding cows. We have many assignments about feeding and controlling feed for the cow, so I was wondering if you could talk about like the nutrients in your food :)
I can't imagine a rubber to rubber connection for the oil filter. I love how you run from job to job through the day. I would never have the balls to go inside that silo, I admire your doing it. Great vid, Peace.
I know what you mean about chocolate milk. The dairy farm down the street makes their own and it's silky smooth. Can go through a gallon over the weekend.
Yah, but don't. Drinking a whole gallon of rich chocolate milk over a short period of time causes a temporary health condition known locally in rural PA as "The Hershey Squirts!"
Methane builds up from the decay of the organic matter, as well as CO2. The methane can be ignited by even a static spark and cause the entire silo to explode. High CO2 levels can cause you to pass out because it displaces oxygen in the air. Going inside of a silo is probably the most dangerous thing you can do on a farm, farmers die all the time inside silos.
@@samuelplourde284 What I like about this channel all the actions taken on this farm are thought out and then acted on. There is always an emphasis on safety. I kinda see it as thrift.
Eric can you explain please why you started putting up videos, what motivates you to keep putting them up, what benefits your getting from doing all the videos and what is your goal from being a RU-vidr . Your channel is brilliant, and you should be very proud of what you have achieved so far
Great video! Seems kind of funny that we just changed the oil in our feed mixer tractor and so did you. Everybody must be doing spring maintenance around this time of the year
Dip your finger in a small amount of the used oil and run it around the rubber seal on the filter, when the filter is put on, stop when it starts to get tight, then turn it a half turn and stop. The suction will do the rest. Never, ever, put a filter on that tight...now you know how it feels to get it off. Advice: If you ever have one that's too tight, put your bucket under the filter and tap a screwdriver through it and turn...full stop
I don't know which he prefers but we prefer concrete. We just had our 1 harvestore converted to a top unloader because the bottom unloader cost too much to maintain and it was slow.
I have an intense fear of falling. Watching you climb up that ladder nearly did me in. I think I saw you crack a smile when you saw the chocolate milk. :)
That or just a good leather belt too now cause you can wrap it around the filter and then pull the end of it and itll unscrew it too been there and done that before here too
If you lube your o ring a little more with clean oil, the filter won’t stick on there that hard. Love the videos, keep them going, Watching from a hay production farm in Ohio
That's one thing I can say about him here too hes dedicated to keeping the farm working cause the way he works cause on the vedios hes always gets it done on there
This may sound nuts but the few times a year I had to leave the shop and actually go work on the farm...... Everybody does something different and on this channel I think I've complained enough how I always hated and sort of cow shit and the smell. (Mostly the pee) Old silage is another but when the farm needs work every BODY gets called. Two of us fat mechanics devised a way to do the same job. BTW I can't crawl in a silo so I climb down into it. We used the 8hp little giant leaf blower to air out the gas and I made fast work of turning the silage using this little Troybilt 2 cycle tiller we had. I've even used it to till ice.
Nasty silo, thank goodness it only has to be done occasionally. View from the top of the silo was pretty. Great to see the area greening up. Well done Eric.
You must like chocolate milk like I do here and that's cool that the inspector keeps you with some of it too there curious is to how many acres do you guys farm up there too have a great day now
Hey boss I've been a subscriber from the start. I really liked the 2 seconds of footage from the top of the silo showing miles of horizon. You should show a little more of that
Where to begin a true mechanic. “An inch and something “ Lol 😂 what a great milk inspector !! The overview from atop the silo was beautiful! Very very good video for sure 😊🚜
Things are starting to green up nicely in your area. Watch you and Bikes and Beards channel and I believe both from Pennsylvania. Always surprised on both, how close many building are to the roads down there. Would make me a bit nervous moving large equipment around.
Eric, your videos are fantastic! I'm in Michigan and can't wait for things to green up around here. Thanks for posting such great videos, stay safe and healthy!
Another good one. Eric. I like how you do not present the work like its misery, like some I have seen. If you hate it, get a job! HAHA Nothing like Farm work when its your farm. It seems to buoy the energy level. Thanks Again.
Great video Eric I like watching your videos because the different techniques you can use because you are a lot warmer then we are here in Manitoba on our dairy. And just wondering what you use that little feed cart for?
When you change oil next, there's a plug in the filter housing that you can take out to drain the filter so you don't have oil running all over the frame rail. Take care.
Hello there! I love this channel - and I’m a California city girl who doesn't know jack about farming! I’ve got a question tho: you opened the hatch on top of the silo and got it set up to refill in a month or so - don't you have to worry about rain getting in there? How DO you get water out of the bottom of a silo like that?👍🏻😎
Good evening, always a pleasure to view the wonderful content you put together for your followers. Very very interesting to watch your daily activities. Makes one wonder how you relax and goof off when you get time. Stay safe and get busy. Lol
