Silo Season 1 Episode 7 breakdown. In-depth recap and review of Silo S01E07 “The Flamekeepers” with the ending explained. Please subscribe! 👉 bit.ly/PetePeppers
In Episode 7 Jules’ investigation leads her to Medical where she finds Gloria has been locked away and sedated. She enlists the help of her father to sneak her out and ask her questions. She learns about The Flamekeepers and a conspiracy to put something in the water that makes citizens of the Silo lose their memories.
There are big reveals related to the mysteries of the Silo in episode 7. Someone is coordinating behind the scenes to erase citizens who are trying to keep a connection to the past and the world outside. Also, that George’s mother was the last Flamekeeper Gloria knew and she knew Juliette’s mother Hanna. Jules also learns that Judge Meadows is just a puppet controlled by Sims and that they are able to watch people in their apartments through cameras in their mirrors.
The Silo is an underground world where the last 10,000 people on Earth live to stay safe from the toxic environment on the surface. The inhabitants aren’t aware of how it got there or why things are the way they are because a rebellion 140 destroyed their histories. Things take a turn when the Sheriff's wife starts asking questions and eventually asks to go outside. This is the cardinal rule of the Silo. Any spoken request to leave the Silo is granted, but it’s irrevocable, once uttered it’s determinative, in other words, it’s a death sentence.

Silo is the story of the last ten thousand people on earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built and any who try to find out face fatal consequences. Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer, who seeks answers about a loved one's murder and tumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don't kill you, the truth will.

This was an exciting episode. The tension becomes ever greater which makes for fun viewing. Replacing the flowers, ever since she found the note seemed so obvious to me: cameras! But from Jules' perspective, she wouldn't have a clue what it meant as she has no clue about this kind of technology.

@@PetePeppers1 I'm also vaguely familiar with the story in the books. When the surveillance screens came up at the end of the previous episode, I expected it to be revealed as a different place than Sims' local secret ops. This Sims character I think does not really feature in the books, does he? Also, do you expect there to be three seasons, one for each book (Wool / Shift / Dust)? If that's the case, the next season ought to be really interesting and revealing...
@JasonLockhartmn
@JasonLockhartmn Год назад
It seems to me that the show is expanding the background of certain characters in a way that brings a new life to some and delves into others that weren't in the books. I'm all for it and it seems after episode 7 that the creators may split the first book into another season. Whichever way it goes I'm hoping for more seasons as this show has been very entertaining. I also hope that at the end of this season Pete will be able to unpack the show against the books' story in some fashion!
@PetePeppers1
@PetePeppers1 Год назад
There is a character named Sims but the role of Judicial is completely different. He's likely taking on some things that another character does which means it's not clear how that character's role is changed. I think there will be at least four seasons. They're only getting through half of Wool this season. Season 3 seems like a better place to jump around in the timeline if they're going to stick closely to how the second book plays out.
@wetteryan
@wetteryan 11 месяцев назад
Wool is one of my favorite apocalyptic dystopian novels of all time. It's kinda like a vertical snowpiercer that doesn't move. One of the things that made it stand out to me was the changing of the main character as they got killed off. Like once you were comfortable and invested in the protagonist they subvert your expectations and axe them suddenly out of nowhere. The concept seems annoying but wool pulled it off really well and it was really unique. My main concern about the show was that I was worried they weren't going to do that at all. And boy am a sure glad that wasn't the case!

Simms didn’t send the raiders to get her when she found the book. He sent them when she figured out the cameras. That surprised me. Also, seems like no one is tending to the babies at night?! The room was open, no cameras, and Juliette didn’t seem worried a nurse would be coming. That could not be the situation?! Maybe just a convenient plot hole? Idk

"Okay, so we're in agreement, I should go." "That's how you react! You're just going to run in the face of danger!" "But you just said-" "Don't interrupt! You sit and listen to everything I have to say. What would your mother think. You have to leave. NOW!" "Okay, yes. Now. I'm going to leave, just like you said." "I can't believe you're leaving. Maybe we are actually watching Season 2 of Severance. After the PR disaster with Helly R, Lumon decides innies can never know about the real world. So now, years later, they've created the Silo as a self-contained reality for them. Lukas works in Macrodata Refinement, the folks in Janitorial are the only unsevered ones, and the ones sent out to clean are just living their outie lives thinking their innies messed up and got fired. Ok, I read Wool, I know there's actually a story to be told... but what if Ben Stiller got Hugh Howey on board? I mean it'd be a genius move.

This is the one that made up for last week. Yes, shows with stories like these can only really be judged on whole seasons. But there are dull chapters in books, so tv shows have dull episodes too. But overall every episode pushes the story forward like it should and we only really know how important the current episode is until we see the next one. And the good part of this episode is not the fact that there are some hands working BTS, it's how they told us. Its like we almost found it out together with Jules and yet like her, we don't know that much more than Jules does compared to the rest of the unaware silo habitants. I mean "they have these sensors like the one outside" The word camera is gone along with how it functions and its use cases. but she figured it out right there, they can hide these "Sensors" and the two way mirrors or whatever.... cant wait till next week.

Me, too! I was very peeved with her! Started to dislike this character a lot! I might even get to disliking her for quite a spell. The Jules in the books was always a sweetheart. This Jules can be very ornery. I don't want to dislike her! Loved it when Billings jumped right back in her face! She calmed down after that. Good for Billings! 😊

I find it really odd that they apparently or seemingly don't know what stars are (they only seem to recognize them as lights that appear at night and form patterns through that viewscreen and sensor on the surface). Even though they apparently haven't been to the surface in over 150 years (?) Which would imply that they don't know that they're on a planet (or what a planet is, vis-a-vis space and the relation to other stellar bodies).... ....which is really odd considering the primary source of power in the Silo is a generator presumably powered by geothermal energy..... ....which you can only deduce the source of if you know what a planetary core is and how it leads to the production of that geothermal heat - and more to the point what causes it to do so (the Earth's spin and the spinning core). But given the fact that they haven't seemed to notice that the constellations don't change position at night as they should and always appear on exactly the same positions (further indicating and confirming that that's a fake image they're been fed through that viewscreen), I guess that tracks. Even though it's odd that you'd be able to manage and maintain the geothermal generator technology and not understand a lick of how its source of power is actually originated and from where.

I think there is a very imp detail or maybe I'm reaching. But isn't it just a huge "coincidence" that Juliette's mom & brother dies with seizures? & her mom was a flamekeeper just like Gloria. & her father knows exactly how to stop the drugs momentarily. So i think her father actually accidently killed both of them(by overdosing) to get the truth. But he realises that if he continues his last child will also be killed so her mother takes a promise from Juliette's dad that he will keep her safe by not continuing & abiding by the rules. What do you think? Because if you see the acting of her father his face tells you the regret immediately.

Well Juliet’s mother didn’t have a seizure we only have information that she killed her self and she wasn’t a flame keeper she was just had the same qualities of one.

I think it's problematic to assume Meadows is an alcoholic. Sims is clearly keeping her under his thumb, things are getting out of control everywhere, and she's taking the blame for all of it whichever way you look at it. If there's something in the water to make you forget or if it's alcohol, in her place, it would seem like a pressure releaser to just drink it.
@TheDollyce
@TheDollyce Год назад
I agree! Just because Judge Meadows is having "something" to drink doesn't mean 1) it's alcohol, or 2) that she's an alcoholic. I took it that she's very saddened by the things she knows and the things she might be forced to do. I saw her tears, I can see her desperation. If it's a high ball she's drinking, then good for her. She's possibly just drowning her sorrow for today. Like someone might do if there's a tragic accident and someone you love dies. You might get wasted for a few days, but that's not necessarily alcoholism.
@PetePeppers1
@PetePeppers1 Год назад
I don't know she's a character in a TV show and the writers made the choice to show her getting caught mixing a screwdriver before breakfast. The bottle she's drinking from looks the same as the one Jules was drinking after George's death. Think about how they chose to depict her drinking compared to how they've shown Bernard enjoying Mayor Jahn's collection.
@TheDollyce
@TheDollyce Год назад
@@PetePeppers1 Exactly, and Jules isn't an "alcoholic". She was a grief stricken woman who chose to drink to numb her feelings for at least that day.

I was very peeved about the flagrant despotism of the Silo realm. And sadly, we see too much despotism IRL around Earth. Anyway, I'm happy that 'Bernard' has been given a makeover from the 'Bernard' in the book! I did not want to hate loveable Tim Robbins! 😉 So now I can thoroughly hate 'Sims', and BTW, don't like Common at all IRL.

Judge is merely a puppet. Sims is the ones with power. He and Bernard work together. All these cameras require storage and where these footage will store? Yes here IT guy Berand will come. He controls everything from water to storing of footage in servers. Berand wants to earn the trust of Juliet so that she will provide the info on what she is working on.
