The Silt Stitch is a pretty crochet stitch. It is a two row repeat that grows quickly. This means that it is an excellent choice for those larger crochet projects like blankets!
A free written and photo tutorial can be found here on my blog: richtexturescrochet.com/silt-...

This is a great stitch and I’m going to use it for a top immediately. I’ve used the sedge stitch for a few sweaters with excellent results so I’m psyched for this. It doesn’t seem as “dense” as the sedge if I’m recalling correctly. Anyway, your timing is spot on, 💜🙏💜

I would call this a mindless stitch in the fact you don't really have to think so hard to do it. It'll work up really fast too. Could go up one hook size to make it more squishy too...you know me, love da squishies! LOL Be safe Sarah!!

Has anyone had any trouble with the sides going out? I counted and my stitch count was good, but after about the 12th row it started getting bigger and bigger and continues to get wider.

Same here and can't figure out why.

@@YonkersNY3636 I decided to start the pattern over today. After about 7 rows I decided to change up the pattern. I crocheted row one and row two and decided to continue the pattern repeating just row two, it is working out so far. I am on row 12 and it is straight so far. Try it and see if that works for you.

Cool. Decided on another pattern but will keep this in mind for the future. Glad you found a solution. Stay well.

How do you get a finished edge when done; do a series of stitches so they're all the same height?

Is this stitch ideal for boy blanket?

I've noticed that you always crochet into the back bump of the foundation chain. I've see others crochet under the top of the "V" (some in just the 1st loop & others under both loops of the "V"). Can you explain what the difference is...benefit of one over another or what makes one better than another? Is there a "real" right/wrong way to stitch or is it simply how you're taught, etc.? Just a burning & curious question. Thanks!!!
@RichTexturesCrochet
@RichTexturesCrochet 3 года назад
Really it all comes down to personal preference :) I use to crochet under the top V but then switched to going into the back bump when I started working blankets. When you work under the back bump then the opposite unworked side of the foundation chain resembles the tops of the stitches on the opposite end of the blanket if that makes sense. But it’s all personal preference :)
@creative2716
@creative2716 3 года назад
Yes, back bump leaves a prettier edge. Also easier, if you intend on adding border, to have a smooth, uniform, and pretty object.
@deek6913
@deek6913 3 года назад
I've started going into back bump because it does make a cleaner edge with the v's.
