Silver Arowana Fish Care is mostly in the aquarium tank size and diet. If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask them. We all need to learn somehow. Join a good fish group like this one.
Rick Ferguson is an Admin over at this awesome group. It’s completely devoted to predator fish like Arowana Fish.
Additional random fish tank thoughts:
Thinking about trying to find some fake floating plants for my roap fish I have a couple floating that my koi pulled out and he loves em ..wanted to switch over to real plants but can't because my fish tare em up so bad ..iv never Seen fake floating plants where can I find some. That's it in a 90G which is roughly 6 inches taller than a 75. You pretty much have to anchor it down to keep it from floating. It's got a cheap cup like base. I think if you clip the base entirely off you'll end up with 6 sections of plant.
Ok I kinda like the way it is so layered I think if I do choose to use this one I'm gonna get two I'll anchor one next to my caves and free float the other on other end I've seen people tie fishing line in the tank to get thangs to float at a certain depth will that cause any problems.
Oppinion about can a 40 g tank be a proper size for one single female CAE (grown up and peaceful).
Need some constructive advice regarding my CAE(Chinese algae eater, a single female), that I did a typical beginner mistake for a couple of years ago and bought an 31 gallon fish tank (my first one, juwel lido 120 liters type) with fish, and there was more fish that followed this tank I discovered when I opened the holder than what was described in the annonse, I discovered that many of the fish did required larger tanks, tried to contact the seller, but he just dissapered.
So two years later, lessons learned, and now 3 upgraded and bigger tanks for the fish different needs, I just wonder if it's okay for a single CAE to live in a 40 gallon tank(he gots caves, stones, a lot of plants and free swimming places, places were there is a slightly stronger glow I the water). I'm very causes about her died, that she gets enough protein in her food as well(so she's not starved from protein hunger and doesn't trye to duck the slimcoat of other fish) , I've carefully chosen the other new fish that she lives with (smaller fast swimming, that is in the upper and midle area of the aquarium, under stocked with overfiltration) and everything seems to be peaceful and they coexist well.
My only concern is if the 40 gallons is a to small size for her? I don't know her exact age when I got her, but I've had her for about two years, and her size is now about 16,3 inch (she was lesser than half the size the first time I saw her). So looks like she grows well, and doesn't look stunted or anything.. But still concerned if the tank I big enought for only her (she haves the whole bottom and walls for herself, so no territorial conflicts). Do just curiose for some views about this.
Raising the temp and/or adding salt will only mask the symptoms and eventually leads to kidney failure. Need to know your stocklist in order to recommend the correct medication. Because of the knife fish, I would recommend Seachem Paraguard. Do not raise the temp or add salt. There are heat resistant strains of Ich that can handle temps all the way up to 95F
Rapid cure ich treatment and a water change. If u have shrimp pull them out and dont treat them. I have 2 ghost shrimp and I separated them when I treated my tank and they're fine. Brett Striegel Mostly low too moderate growth rate, exept for the Anacharis, this one can grow very rapidly under the right conditions.
I suggest cabomba, sessilliflora and/ or amazon frogbit. All will make a difference, if you have enough of them ofc, cabomba and sessilliflora is easy too propagate, just cut off half the stem and replant it.
Easy green contains nitrate as far as i can understand. I would have take a fertilizer thats nitrate free. A fertilizer with nitrate is only needed if you have few or no fish in the tank. Also depends on the ammount of plants ofc.
So the next factor is how often you feed the fish? and how much, cause everything going in have too come out again. And if all the food is eaten ofc. Nitrate is as you probably know end product in the nitrogen cycle, the only way too remove it is with plants feeding on the water column or by doing waterchange. I think you will see a drop in nitrate if you test today, dont feed your fish more than every other day and continue too monitor.

Thanks Chris for letting me share about my Arowana. I am far from being an expert but sure have enjoyed learning about them. I hope this can help those considering keeping a Silver Arowana.

If I had a tank like Joey, a silver and a red! So sad that DWS Darius Fish Tanks just lost his silver arowana. It escaped through 2" opening in top of his 350 gallon tank. He is so distraught, he is taking time away from RU-vid. 😥

They will jump out of a two inch crack. I’ve seen it with adults too. Please guys who own arowana or saratogas get a strong lid hood. Majestic. 99% have drop eye and live with it to old age. It’s no big deal.

Drop is caused by the diet of your fish. Everyone says different things on why they get it. Mine got it and I whiched it's food to only live bugs and insects and there drop eye is almost gone now. I believe Arowana fish have a main diet of insects only other foods cause drop eye I'm telling you I've cured it by diet alone

We have people advertise to rehome their fish on Predator Nation on Facebook. I also buy or take in large fish that people cannot keep. Their are places too like Ohio Fish Rescue that take fish like that. Their biggest tank is 4,000 gallons!
