This was a west German pop show. It ended in 1982. I’ve seen so many of these videos and It never ceases to amaze me the audience lack of enthusiasm. No matter how great a song was or how popular the group, the audience just sat there, no dancing, not even a foot tap. Why? I just don’t understand it, apart from the fact that they are German, but still!
That's all well and good. But the music still has a beat, they couls at least tap a foot. I just find it amazing. Being East German perhaps they are scared to react after being under strict communist rule.@@frankj3446
Maybe they should have played A Taste of Honey's (Get Down) "Boogie Oogie Oogie" instead, which seems to have been inspired by this song. This is rather easy listening eurodisco, but still funny, like Lipps Inc. "Funkytown". A girl band like Love Unlimited, Chic and Sister Sledge, only white.
I was in Junior high school. No , I won't spoil it , during that time ? Was a 6 year nightmare from 6 th grade to my Senior year. Bully's moving on to more comments.
Forgot one thing : These ladies had to be very professional to keep on smiling and moving like that while the audience is so cold as ice . In France , we use to say : " It's like giving jam to pigs " ( rough translation )
I was just a little kid when this debuted and I've loved it ever since. You can't help but to boogie when you listen to this....I don't know how the audience in this didn't.
@@LindaEll89 It was live, studio recording was added later on; the original recording of this performance, live: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FtdKH7Q3af4.html
1976 I was 11 and I had this 45 record, my Dad bought me a portable close & play and I would take it outside to play, I loved all these songs from the mid 1970s such nicer times & memories 🌞💗💋
Yeah, I love it! Not only did they only say 7 words throughout the whole damn song, but it was a number two hit song selling well over a million copies. Great Bicentennial memory that had everyone dancing in 1976.
I can certainly remember this song from the Silver Convention. The popularity was very prevalent at various "DISCO'S" throughout America. AM/FM, radio, consistently would play this senational song. The lovely ladies, with sheer perfection met many of us with soothing voices that captured our eyes with balanced rhythmic movements on stage.
I am old enough to remember what a fad the boogie was in those days. This song is a very good representative of that rhythm. I used to dance it in discos then. And it is still nice to hear 42 years later.
I was 16 years of age then. By the 1990's the entire AUDIENCE was in on the act, it was called a rave! You know the tunes are great and the laser light show is great when the entire audience is on the move not sitting like blobs! 😄😄😄😄😄
They had been asking the audience to Get Up n Boogie since from the start, but little did the Convention realize they were actually singing funeral song..
Not only the mucic is excellent , the disco sound , the rhythm , the beat !! But can you imagine a young guy , 16 years old , as I was when I first saw these beautiful ladies dancing and moving on stage 🤪 ?? Unforgetable !
What I loved about Disco was there was nothing serious about it....no social comment, no story....just a funky feel and banal lyrics. Its a great music style for the people.
LINDA THOMPSON...
@Thiarnron I can't imagine what would be worse.. to be one of the girls on stage.. or one of the zombies in the audience.. But no kidding we liked that song when it came out!
If you listen to the classic Denis Leary album "No Cure For Cancer" and listen to him talk about the 70s, it'll be crystal clear why this song was a hit.
