A lot of Yang being upset and short with Blake is due to the Apathy's influence. Notice that once their influence is broken her first instinct is to grab Blake's hand and get her out of the house.

I think the Apathy are more dangerous than Dementors, Dementors make you scared constantly, eventually driving you mad over months to years, but the Apathy just need to be near you to make you stop feeling ANYTHING, you won't eat because you don't feel like putting the effort in to eating, you won't drink because you don't make the effort to get a drink... you won't wake up, because you won't feel like getting up, and so you die of thirst (humans need water far more than we need food, thirst would be the thing to get you). If the Apathy had been guarding Azkaban then the prisoners would all be dead in a week because they won't take any action that requires the slightest bit of willpower to do, like getting a drink or eating.

This is what I love about the Grimm. Their lore is so flexible that they can be as much used in a horror movie as they can be used in a war movie, without missing a beat. 37:35 And if you timed the fight, it took exactly one minute IRL.

I want to point out that the two characters that really seem to like the baby are both older sisters. Also in Volume 4 it’s heavily implied that Weiss’ mother is an alcoholic, so I imagine setting all that alcohol on fire to burn down the Apathy infested house must have been pretty satisfying

Perfect timing :) The Grimm didn't seem to care about the lamp at all, which is lucky since the girls were proposing just leaving it in the wilderness. The Apathy are the scariest Grimm so far IMO, with the Nucklavee a close second. The diary author, Bartleby, is a reference to a 19th century short story about an officeworker who starts just saying "I prefer not to" when asked to do anything. Since neither therapy nor antidepressants had been invented yet, nobody knows how to help him and they can only watch him turn into an Apathy victim. The general fan theory seems to be that Tock, the crocodile faunus, was a member of Salem's inner circle and is who Hazel was talking about when he said "We've dealt with their (silver eyes) kind before." Argus looks just like San Francisco with snow, I love it. Ruby and Qrow eat their sandwiches exactly the same way, shaking their heads with full cheeks like happy chipmunks. It's adorable.

Apathy, the grimm that sucks away your own energy, it is deadly probably the most dangerous grimm to ever see if your not a huntsman and or huntress. Yes they are based on skeletons and mostly zombies.

Blake doesn't really understand why Yang was hurt by her leaving, Yang isn't reacting like this to Blake because she is making her feel weak but because she's frustrated that blake doesn't get it. But it's that typical trope I'm mad but if you don't know what you did I'm not gonna tell you, figure it out. Yang was really happy when Blake said she wasn't going anywhere that if Adam showed up she would be there, Yang thought she understood she wants them to be there for each other when they need each other, when Blake added to protect you it implies that Blake doesn't have faith in Yang, Yang is dealing with a lot and she's not perfect but wants Blake to be there for her but she also wants her to know that she's there for Blake and Blake can count on her when she needs her.

In the flashback episode where u see all off ozmas past lives, one of this past lives he had a wife and 2 kids sitting at a table, the 2 kids had silver eyes, this is after Salem killed him and their four girls.

Maria is probably the most fun adult in RWBY. She's pretty much the Yoda of the group.

Something I didn't notice for several watchthroughs until a reactor I watched pointed it out. In the early part of the episode and when they are down in the basement their pupils are completely blown out like they are on drugs.

Tock is based on a crocodile from a story i forgot. Her semblance has her be invincible from any aura damage for about 1 minute. She worked for salem and she is...you guessed it, a Crocodile Faunus.

The whole house scene near the end is funny, but there is one slightly dark point about it. Yes, Ruby saying "shut up there's food!" is a joke... except it's not. The only thing they've had to eat for the last few days was some cans of reheated beans.

Yeah, so the Yang stuff. Like others have said, the Apathy played a relevant part in her attitude, not to mention she just found out Ozpin lied to everyone and Salem can’t be killed, which isn’t super great in the way of motivation. As far as the Blake part goes, it’s not just the PTSD. The whole reason Yang lost her arm to begin with is because she was trying to protect Blake. To have that turn around and hear that Blake will be the one to protect her can be a bit demoralizing, like Yang was never good enough to protect Blake or herself, despite Blake’s kind intentions. Her response wasn’t necessarily a jab at Blake, but rather an expression of her own frustrations. On a separate but related note, I also think that’s why Yang took Blake running away so hard. She just lost her arm trying to protect Blake, and then she just runs away without saying a word. I can understand her being hurt by that. She got over it as we saw, and she gets over this conflict as you saw later, but overall I think her feelings are justified.

It seemed like the strongest people were effected 1st by the Apathy, Qrow, Yang, etc.. I think because she has silver eyes, Ruby was one of the last to feel the effect...

Picking RWBY favs is legit hard so you are totally valid! (It's very nice to hear you try to work it out for us though X3) Personally my top two are pretty firmly Ruby and Oscar because I have a massive weakness for idealistic cutie patooies who have way too many burdens/responsibilities shoved onto there shoulders and struggle not wanting to bother anyone else with them (can't decide who my top fav between them is because they're very different flavors of that archetype and I like that contrast even more than any one individual trait) but trying to place the rest of my many *many* favs is near impossible since they tend to shift based on my mood; Qrow, Oz, Sun, Penny and Weiss are usually in the top ten though since they're all fantastic... Raven, Cinder and Salem can very grudgingly end up in the top ten if I'm in a 'god I love really well designed villains' mood but when I'm actually watching oh boy am I going grrr at them most of the time... And that's not even getting into the weird attachment I have for Emerald and Mercury (they're not my favs in personality, design or style at all but somehow I'm still super invested in where their stories are going and find myself very much going all 'if anything ever happened to them, I will kill everyone in this room and then myself' for them more that I am for any other character whenever I think of bad things happening to them so IDK what the heck that counts as. Honorable mentions maybe? XD And ahh finally~ The reveal of old lady Maria's old nickname 'the Grimm Reaper' (best pun) which gives us just enough to work out what our dear little granny's character allusion is aside from being potentially Little Red Riding Hood's grandma: Specifically she's Santa Muerte (also known as 'Our Lady of Holy Death') a folk saint, deity and death personification from folk Catholicism and Mexican Neopaganism who is, well, a lot of things but one key little tidbit relevant to RWBY is that her figure in shrines often holds a scythe and wears a colored cloak, the color of which indicates what kinds of blessings you might get if you pray to her there: Red for matters of passion, love and emotional stability. White for gratitude, purity, or the cleansing of negative influences. Black for protection against magic and evil forces, and finally Blue for wisdom and teaching. There are many other colors with meanings as well as well but one thing that's really cool is that if you compare this 'colored cloak symbolism' all the silver eyed warriors we know of (Ruby wearing a red cloak, her mom Summer wearing a white one and Maria wearing black when she was younger then blue as she got older) it becomes quite clear that Silver Eyed Warriors as a whole reference Santa Muerte, and IDK what to make of that really but it's very cool, something I had no idea about until I started trying to work out wtf Maria was based off of and just something I can't resist sharing with every reactor who reaches this part of the show

I love that one of Jaune's sisters is dressed like David from Camp Camp in that framed photo.

Maria is like the coolest design in the whole show and you only get to see her in her prime for like 3 minutes. It's a damn shame.

6 is my favorite season of them all. It's just.... I don't know, it's special.

I love how often you speculate about something that happens in the next episode or in this case, part of your 8 minute ramble you ask questions that get answered in the episode. That's why it's so dangerous to leave clues in the comments. You already have a good track record of speculating only to have it revealed. "How does the moon get broken?" I wanted to be like "oooh, don't worry it's coming!" but of course that's a clue you don't actually want :) It's been entertaining to watch your curiosity. Then there's the times I want to say "You'll regret saying that about so-and-so" but again, spoilers!

Interesting that the guy that ran the settlement was named Bartleby. There's a story called "Bartleby the Scrivener" about a guy that basically dies due to apathy.

What's sad is Qrow probably heard them screaming and thought it was in his head. He clearly hates his semblance and what it does to those closest to him. That's why he followed them from a distance for so long in volume 4, he wanted to protect them but couldn't be close to them. Imagine loving people but knowing your very presence will hurt them, literally. And in such a dangerous line of work, that's a death sentence. I wonder if he knew what his semblance was before Beacon or if he figured it out while he was a student

Fun fact: Tock, the croc faunus that Maria fought, has the semblance of Invulnerability. Her full body gets an unbreakable aura shield for 60 seconds at the cost of it shattering her entire aura afterwards. At that point she's easily killable. Also she's an allusion to Tick Tock the Croc from Peter Pan

The Apathy were supposed to be a part of Volume 1 but, they were set aside because, the "quality of animation at that time wouldn't do them justice." I am sure glad they waited. Maria's Dual-Sickles are called -- Life and Death A lot of people were shocked by Ruby when when she first used her silver eyes but, I was not. I had been waiting for Ruby to do something with them since Ozpin pointed them out in the first episode. I had previously watched the Anime, Claymore. In it you follow super powered women that protect the people in feudal Japan. They all had Silver Eyes and were frequently called Silver Eyed Witches, or SEWs.

The baby matches Terra Cotta's coloring exactly, I don't think he's adopted.

CRWBY is surprisingly good at creating horror. I'm surprised Rooster Teeth hasn't made a horror show yet. I'm not normally effected by horror but even I felt a tingle from the atmosphere in this episode.

Since we're on topic about favorite characters I've got an interesting list lol 1. Ozpin/Oscar (Would take 1 and two but let's be honest they're both the same or will be) 2. Mercury (I liked him since season 2, really cool guy and doesn't get enough credit for his skill in the series 3. REDACTED 4. Jaune (Always love the story of the misfit turning into the good leader) 5. Cinder (She's awful and I love her for it, she has a lot to work on but just really love how skilled she is and her weapon is also pretty dope)

I'm now slightly worried I've been coming off as grr in my character rambles... 😅I really love to try explaining where or why I think a character might be the way they are, good, bad or otherwise, and I know I can get a bit overly passionate once I get going but I hope I haven't been coming off as one of those 'how dare you' types since that's pretty much never my intention XD Related thought: due to spoilers, people couldn't mention that the Apathy's passive 'you tired' effect was probably a major contributor to Yang being set off far more easily than normal and makes it harder to deal with, but yeah. Sometimes with RWBY I think there's a real struggle for people to account for perspective. That the stuff we know about a character or plot point that you've yet to see colors our viewpoint of them and makes our hackles get raised when we fail to 'emotionally' account for you not knowing that stuff yet. XD (There's also the baggage that comes from people who really love a character who one way or another have been exposed to people who actively hate said character for bleh reasons, and then going all 'you don't like them? No! You're one of those people hisss!" but that's. I'm not sure if that's an every series thing or not but RWBY fans generally have a ton of it. I think I handle some of it better than most but I know that any time people say stuff like 'I'm not sure I wanna get attached to Oscar just in case he's not here long' I have to take a step back and forcefully remind myself that that's ok and not the kind of 'Oscar's just Oz's fleshsuit/a nothing character and you're stupid for thinking otherwise' harassment I used to see everywhere in fan spaces whenever he was brought up; he's liked more nowadays but like. Fanbase toxicity leaves a mark I think and it's yikes.) Completely unrelated to RWBY note: EEEE Hinata! I never got super into Naruto, kinda dropped it after the fight with the bone guy and just never got back to it, but IDK. I just really liked Hinata's softly determined defiance that she ended up being my fav next to Lee (personification of sheer 'I do one thing REALLY well' insanity and sheer guts) for 'vibes I wish were in that show all the time'

Whatever Oz is doing has clearly worked or Salem would have won by now. And most huntsmen and huntresses have nothing to do with the war with Salem, they protect people from the grimm which existed with or without her. Notice how their pupils were dilated when the apathy were affecting them. The apathy definitely had a bigger impact the worse your mental state already was, it was worst for Qrow and Yang. Maria and Ruby were the least affected likely the silver eye abilities helped. Still, its possible if Qrow hadn't woken Ruby by dropping the bottle that they might have never woken up. You have now reached the stage of Ruby's development where she's very done with adults (except Maria). Neo is 4'10. Maria is a goddamn beast. Also if she inspired Qrow and Qrow inspired Ruby, then Ruby is kinda the third generation (little red riding hood's grandmother?). Congrats on making it through your first RWBY horror episode. Next two episodes are emotional, CRWBY is ready to hurt you. Don't worry they aren't completely heavy though, and the opening is safe to watch after episode 8.

Your feelings are perfectly valid. When the show started. It was actually Yang that drew me in. Then Ruby. Weiss was naturally annoying early on and I hated Blake. Now it's the exact opposite. Blake is actually my favorite character of the four girls and Yang is my least. She lost a lot of her spark and became a lot more like Blake was. Am angsty teen lashing out at everyone. I'm not discounting the reasons. But it is still very annoying. Jaune I find is quite similar to Yang as well. Both are quite scarred from Beacon. Probably more than anyone in the group. Weiss and Blake have grown tremendously and Ruby is kind of a fragile shell. Desperately trying to remain the bright spot til she reaches her inevitable breaking point. Poor girl needs the character growth.

Yang is my absolute favorite, not just in rwby but fiction as a whole, so i'd be lying if i didn't feel upset by your reaction to her, but that's the thing with watching reactions, people will react differently. It's not like you go into the Yang fanclub and tell us we should hate her, we chose to watch. Hope people weren't too rude about it lol

You're late to uploading this video, I'm late to catching it XD Anyway I wanna start by pointing something out. In the very first scene of episode six when you see Oscar pacing, take a closer look. He almost looks like Ozpin in that moment. While Ozpin may have hidden himself away in Oscar's mind they are still on the way to their souls merging. It's still happening. You can pick up on little moments like this throught the rest of the seasons. Little moments where Oscar acts just a little like Ozpin. The fine details are incredible. I love the relationship Qrow, Ruby and Yang have. How much they care for each other is clear. Even if Ruby isn't Qrow's neice by blood he still treats her like she is. During episode 6 if you look closely you can see the character's pupils dilated. It's a creepy affect to top off their odd behaviour caused by the Apathy. Apathy: meaning lack of interest, enthusiasm or concern. The Apathy Grimm, able to drain the will of anyone in proximity to them. Their scream can further drain a person's will, and repeat draining will cause a person to fall unconcious. If a person is startled they can be jolted from the Apathy's effects, albeit temporaily. The effect ends if all Apathy are dead, or if a person is far enough away. In other words The Apathy are creepy and very very dangerous. I love that they went more horror for episode 6. It was such a different tone to what we're used to, but damnit it worked and it turned out great. 👀 Finally meeting one of Jaune's many sisters, Saphron. Her wife Terra Cotta (love the representation), and their son Adrian. Because Adrian looks a lot like Terra Cotta it's speculated that he is her biological kid from a previous relationship before Terra married Saphron. But it's unconfirmed as far as I'm aware. Cute family though either way.

RWBY has too many good characters. Of course Qrow is my favorite of them all. And Ruby is my favorite of the girls because she's so precious and wholesome in addition to being a badass fighter. But there are too many others that are also great, like the old lady Maria, Nora, Ren, Penny, Pyrrha and even some of the bad guys have moments where you think they're pretty cool.

Ozma's daughters with Salem did not have silver eyes, one had like an amber color the other three had light green

These two chapters made volume 6 my favorite!! Great storytelling and a wide range of emotions felt all in less than an hour!! And there's more to come..... But, til then, I'll keep to what you've seen. Ry, I can't even pinpoint my top 5 characters from volume to volume.....🤣 This show's ability to even give one-off characters so much life makes it too hard to choose favorites. But...... Ruby will always be top 3 for me. The other two surprises myself!! Oz & Emerald!?! I can't go too much into but it is what it is. Maria aka The Grimm Reaper - A brilliant character on so many levels for the show.... Enough said! My fellow commenters here have made points that I wanted to, no need to repeat them. But, if you like one 'Silver-eved Witch', how would you like an anime based on a whole organization of them?!? Look up CLAYMORE sometime!! It's wild, well-animated, and good storylines. btw, the major spoiler that this OP has is the fact that Maria has silver eyes. It's a good thing you didn't watch it. you can watch it now if you want. I always had Qrow as my favorite. I even have his emblem on the back of my car. i never really thought of a top 5 until you just mentioned it. i will also put Ruby as my number 2, then followed by Weiss, Yang, and Pyrrha(rip). I would move Penny in this slot but (RIP Penny) now that they are both gone Nora moves up to 5.

Yang deserves everything you are saying about her, at the moment. I get why she is upset about Blake running away, but When Blake said she would protect her. she was 1000 percent out of line. she could have just said I appreciate that, but we can do this together. They are the same people who don't see any problem with how she is keeping the fact about Raven being The Spring Maiden a secret. That is a big thing to keep quiet about. She also lied to Qrow about Raven being gone when she got down to the vault at Haven. Give her Hell....she deserves it....at this moment. I still love Yang though. I think that if Qrow did not drop that bottle and woke Ruby up, they all would have died in their sleep. I also think that if ruby did not have silver eyes the bottle falling would not have waken her.

They didn't necessarily adopt... The child could have been from a previous relationship or from a surrogate... Tech is different in Remnant, so who knows if they have a way to impregnate women using another woman's egg... Probably unlikely, but adoption certainly isn't the only option lol And yeah, I don't think your point against Yang was totally invalid... She was being a bit silly and unfair, but I think it was also somewhat understandable and more than just Yang getting overly offended by one little thing, so I think you were a little harsh lol. No big deal though... You could likely also blame the apathy for putting people in a bad mood, but I'm not sure it was all down to them... At least she's having a better time than Qrow though lol.

Yes, this is a "wall of text" however, this is also what I've been thinking since I first watched the 1st volume. What I'm hoping for for the end of the series is that Summer Rose (Ruby's mom) comes back to fight by Ruby's side. No, I don't think Summer's dead. As you mentioned, no body, no death. Even the series said, near the beginning, that she disappeared, and is "presumed dead." What I'd like to see is the Silver Eyes from both Ruby and Summer, working together (I'd love to see mother and daughter fighting side by side in the end. I think Summer became the Summer Maiden and knew that Salem would be after her, putting her family in jeopardy. So to save her family, she went into hiding.), remove the Pool's grimm influence from Salem. With that influence gone, she may be able to see clearly again. Sure, she was an entitled jerk from the get-go, but she may be able to look back on her long life after the influence is gone. I think it will take both Ruby and Summer because I don't think that 1 person with Silver Eyes can do it alone. The grimm influence is too ingrained after so many years. So, once she is free of the grimm influence, she may be reasoned with and be able to understand what the stupid "gods" were trying to tell her about a life and death balance. Once she realizes what they were trying to teach her, then she may be freed from the curse of immortality. Hopefully, removing the same from Ozma. They can then start growing old together and die peacefully. Anyways, that's the direction I'm hoping that the series will go in. As Ozpin said in volume 5, Ruby's got that something that is made for a born leader. She's always levelheaded, caring, and optimistic. Even with everything that's happened to her. To me, Ruby and Weiss are my favorite characters in the series. I love that name. The Grimm Reaper. The city was based on San Francisco California. I honestly don’t get why everyone freaked out to the degree they did about Salem being unkillable. I get being mad at Ozpin for lying, but before this whole crusade they all signed up to be huntsmen/huntresses, which is basically an endless horde. At no point did anyone think one day we will win the war against the Grimm. That didn’t mean they shouldn’t fight them though. Saving even one life, is worth something, even if there will always be more Grimm.

Considering the kid looks very much like Terra I dont think they adopted - anime sometimes works in mysterious ways :D
