Hi,brother!Why you didn't use simple method for that films?Just pirolyse and then smelt the ash using proper fluks?

Tried it in a small batch... Films keep being pyrolysised / burning for a long time... It needs a large pyrolysis setup.

Wouldn't have been easier/ safer to concentrate the silver oxide caustic solution and add a sugar or glycerin to the concentrate and precipitate the metallic silver?

Yes just add some PAC ( poly aluminum chloride) it's easy to find used in water treatment. Silver oxide would precipitate very cleanly in 1 hour. Decant solution and add glucose syrup and stir it well . Then wash your silver and decant and melt.

@@PickyPlans Nice, about how much PAC would you want to add to the 500 g/ 10000ml solution? Would you want to add it before or after reduction? How much Should it be reduced in your opinion? Will the amount of PAC added be based on the amount of material processed?

@@PickyPlans My son and I process x-ray film to raise money for his college tuition. A more cost effective refining technique is greatly appreciated.

About 15 mg / l of solution PAC is good but you need to add sulfuric acid to adjust Ph to 8 (from 14 because of NaOH) at 7-8 PAC has the best effect. You need to add the calculated amount of PAC to some water (like 100 ml) then add PAC solution to your batch. Mix and let it sit for 1-2 hours. Then siphon it and filter and wash sediment. Raise the pH again and add glucose syrup and heat it then wash ....
