Thank you so much for showing the entire tour of the glass bottom boat. I went there many yrs ago and it was wonderful seeing my memories of it were still quite vivid and accurate.❤
The glass bottom boats are the last remaining remnant of the original Silver Springs before it became a state park. I remember going there as a child, the boat tour was the best part. I'm glad to hear you have fond memories of going years ago.
My family all had annual passes to this place when it was a theme park. we'd just go there in and out whenever we felt like it, got the rides and shows memorized by the end. I even got to swim in the springs near the glass bottom boat launch during a window of time that they allowed this, in 1996. Even had some friends who worked as "cast members" during the busy season one year. It's been surreal visiting now trying to place where stuff used to be.
It definitely lost a lot of it's charm when it became a state park. I remember going as a child and having all of the stuff you mentioned. Memories are important and almost all that is left of this place. I'm glad they kept the glass bottom boat tours.
Thanks for sharing that great memory. My family and I visited Silver Springs when I was a kid. The shops are now closed but the glass bottom boats are the best part.
@@TomsRoadTrippin I got to thinking about it, I was actually 9 when we went, but the glass bottom boat is what I remember the most.I do remember the shops as being beautiful though.
I lived in Orange Park form 1964-72. We went to Silver Springs many times. The petting zoo and animals were a huge part of the experience for me, and I am sorry to see that they are gone. The boats and the river were the big attraction, though. Sorry to see all of the algae now.
Once Silver Springs became a state park they lost a lot. The animals was the main thing I miss. I'm glad the glass bottom boats are still running, that was the main attraction. At least you have your memories of you past visits.
Good vid. Thanks. I used to work the Lost River Ride...and had my encounter with "Stump"...a monkey that lost a hand to a gator so I was told.. He and his troop of about 20 others were ready to charge me one morning while I was cleaning out one of the sandhill crane pens. Guess he wanted the food I had for them. I was told to charge him if I felt threatened....and I was that morning. Scared was an understatement...I had a rake and ran at him hollering.....at about 6ft from him flat out he took off with his buddies in tow thank God. They are wild my friend..I hate'em too
Hey Tom! You’re probably reading this and going: boy! Why are you so late to the party? Well I can explain Tom: I’ve had a very um... oh what’s the word, eventful week. I worked from 12:50PM until about 7:30PM today and the rest of the week was just downright busy! My thoughts on the video: I was originally not going to watch it because it’s not Zoo or Aquarium related ( I normally skip your non animal content but you’ve told me before that that’s perfectly fine ). But curiosity got the better of me, I’m very happy I watched! I thought it was very pretty, all of it! You had a hell of a good tour guide too! Very nice to hear a bit about the place and see the fish, birds and even some alligators! Have a good day/night Tom, depends when you read this, by the time you read this, this week’s video will probably be out! Again, I apologize for the late comment. PS: The new intro is AMAZING! I was just wondering before watching when you were changing the intro! It’s only like 6 seconds but it’s awesome!! Hope you are well Tom! Hope Toby is adjusting well to being 1-eyed!
Thanks Noah, it's good that you gave the vid a shot. I try to visit fun and interesting places. There is so much more to Florida than the Big theme parks. Silver Springs is one of the original attractions so lots of history in that place. The boat captain was very good, it wss a very enjoyable experience. Toby is doing good, running around like the crazy lil dog he is 😀
Several things changed when it became a state park. The shops closed, the animals we're removed and other various activities stoped. Perhaps the fountain was a casualty of the changes too.
