Thank you so much for this tip. Chevy somehow found a way to get us, they needed to make some money down the road of manufacturing this truck, I’m sure each owner of the 2014 5.3 truly appreciate you for making this video. You are awesome! Charles
If you have the p60dd code then changing out the oil sending switch won't fix your issue. Your issue is downin the front if the engine. Either the oil pump Solenoid, oil pump or its a part with the timing. I originally thought the problem was the sending unit too until I watched more videos. It's a much bigger job and you will also need to pull off the oil pan. Just thought you might want to know if fixing that sending switch didn't solve your issue.
Glad it helped you out to fix your truck. Comments like yours is what makes me doing videos like this one. I appreciate your time too. Thanks for watching, best regards.
Wow, and other videos address this code by changing out the oil pump which is about a 12 hr job 😮. Now I'm wondering if all they had to do was change this sensor out
So the low oil pressure is the sending unit most likely? I was told it could be a failing oil pump. I am going to replace the sending unit first. Literally every issue chevrolet has had with this model, my truck has done it...new transmission first year, and if anyone has a tick under your motor and truck is burning through oil, it is a sign that your vacuum pump is about to fail.
Ended up with a oil pump failure, cost me $3000 CAD at stealerdhip... They changed the vacuum pump for free cause a recall. Quality is not there anymore with GM trucks. Thanks for commenting and watching, regards.
I hear a whining noise too. What’s making it? The oil sensor or the pvc valve he mentioned because I know nothing of that one. Fill me in please! I have code p06DD and replacing the oil pressure sensor and the filter that’s on it.
@@mattpernell9876 @obscur156 thanks for the fast reply guys. I have seen your advice everywhere obscur156 while I have been trying to resolve. You’re doing a good job at informing everyone. Thanks. Alright another question. I’ve also read of the filter but I don’t seem to find anyone showing it being replaced on this model. Does this model have an oil pressure unit screen?? I’m going to order the pcv valve and oil sending unit just wanting to know of that screen
Hey bud! Thanks for your time, my light came on today on my way home, stopped at autozone and got the code P06DD. I hope that’ll fix the problem, thanks again.. ✌️
I just did this today. Found it easier to remove the throttle body and access it with a 24mm wrench. It did not fix my issue as my oil pump is likely failed. Worth a shot though anyway. Try the cheap fixes first. Thanks for the awesome tutorial. Very easy to follow.
Thanks for the tip buddy, i like it when viewers like you contribute to make it easier. Sad to see that your oil pump is failing... I appreciate your comment. Thanks for watching, best regards buddy.
I had the same thing in my 2015. I put half a bottle of Seafoam in the crankcase, drove it 20 miles, then changed the oil/filter. Next day the check engine light turned off. Fingers crossed this holds.
I hope it will work for you Roy. I tried that method too and run it 100 Kilometers and did an oil change. I had no luck, $3000 CAD for the oil pump repair. Wish you the best, keep us updated with your result. Thanks for commenting and watching,i appreciate that. Regards.
@@obscur156 When the light was on, I noticed the PSI was hovering around 60 idling, and 70 driving. Since I did this, idle is at 35, and driving is around 42. I'm wondering if the Seafoam unclogged something?

If you have P06XX engine code,it will eventually be the oil pump failure. Sorry to see all of us having to deal with this junk. Hope its gonna be Ok for you buddy. Keep us updated with your issue please ! Regards.
The problem is an issue with the timing chain tensioner if the sensor didn't fix it. I believe it is a TCB recall from all chevy and GMC dealers. What happens is the timing chain slips because of the tensioner on the oil pump and can actually damage the pump. Get it to a dealer or do a full timing change pump tensioner etc replacement before the oil pump throws shavings into the engine.

@@gerardoseculi6991 Can be the Oil Pressure Solenoid Valve in the oil pan. I doubt that the pcv valve will help but it cost not so bad so you can try it first.
Quick question going to do the oil catch can myself..... do we have to put the pcv valve 2014 5.3 on it???? Can we just put a hollow one??? Isn't that the point of the catch can
There is multiple way to install catch can. there is dual set up if you want to. Do some search on youtube and you will find it. I went for single set-up. thanks for watching, regards.
My all pressure plastic piece broke off and I can't get it off can anybody tell me what I can do🤦♂️ I change the PCV valve I couldn't believe what I saw when I disconnected it was broken half
So should i change my sensor or should i take it to the shop? I saw you said in the comment that your oil pump fail. My truck is acting find just throws up that code about every 3 months.
Does your truck make a whining noise like a power steering pump??? If yes, your oil pump will eventually fail for sure. You can start with the oil pressure sensor. It can be the solenoid switch for the oil pump. Usually the P06XX codes are the oil pump. Good luck buddy and keep us updated with your problem. Regards.
Hey so just recently my oil pressure gauge has been fluctuating weirdly Generally when I'm accelerating and the motor is nice and warmed up it'll liked to sit at the 275KPAA and once the acceleration Is decreasing it a lower itself gradually gradually but all of a sudden it started spiking as I was driving going down 2 ticks under 275 2 ticks over to 75 all within a few seconds and it was not consistent from there on I do not hear any noise in the motor no ticking or nothing like that Oil level is totally fine and the oil is only a month old fully synthetic same as always used I also do not have any warning lights on whatsoever so my question is do I need an engine light to pop up on the dash to diagnose it as a oil pressure gauge, sounds more or less to just be the gauge hopefully 😅
Looks ok to me but if you start to have a winning sound like hydrolic power steering and a code that starts with P06XX, you will end up with an oil pump failure !
They had it two days and worked 14 hours on it. Watch this video to see my bill... Nine thousand kilometers later ,lifter failure and another 3200# CAD. Thank you very much GM... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LzCoepdRIhI.html
Can a bad PCV valve cause shifting problems? This may also cause problems with shifting due to the ECM attempting to identify shift points that are inconsistent with what it thinks they need to be as a result of the lean fuel condition.
No, ended up with an oil pump failure. That's what everybody with PO6XX code end up with... GM truck's liability is going down the drain since 2014. Even 2021 models are having an epidemic lifter failure, and they don't care about it. I am now driving a 2020 Silverado RST and I miss my 2004 Silverado Z71 for sure.

My 17 Silverado that bought new has 80k miles on it. Having low oil pressure issues. About to change the sending unit. I live in Texas, I wonder if it’s necessary to run 0w-20 in it like the manual recommends. I wonder if I could use a 5w-20 or even a 10w-20? Any GM mechanics out there?
Always use recommended oil, period. It is designed to use 0w-20, using thicker oil can damage your motor. Oil needs to be thinner in these engines, very tiny holes needs thinner oil to get through it. Do you have engine codes or check engine light on ?
@@obscur156 thank you for your reply. I have always used the correct oil. I do not nave any lights on. The thumb rule for oil pressure is 10 PSI per 1000 rpm to maintain on the engine. It is acceptable to have 10-15 as idle oil pressure. Oil pressure reading 15 to 20 PSI is read as too low, even in idle condition. The oil pressure may be low in cold weather until the oil pump gets to supply oil to the engine. Mine was low since oil pump was failling.
@@obscur156 I have no oil light or check engine light on and thats whats confusing me. When I'm driving its even at 40 psi and when I come to a stop it goes down to like 10 - 20ish

Change your evap purge valve and your evap vacuum box and solenoid, it's under the truck bed on the driver side, fix my low rough idle and vacuum leak and pressure sensors
But make sure you check your evap canister,I cleaned mine out,it will make your O2 sensor bad, and trick my scan tool to say my MAF was bad and it wasn't, when something is clogged or leaking air, the computer will borrow from other sensors to compensate
i have a question, did you have any symptoms while check engine light was on, like rough shifting, and when you turn the car off does the engine run for a quick second and like jerk bc mine currently does that
What does the P06DD Code Mean? P06DD code indicates that the powertrain control module (PCM) receives a signal from the engine oil pressure sensor that engine oil pressure is below the predefined allowable thresholds. In such a situation, the PCM attempts to minimize engine wear by disabling the oil pump drive and setting the code.
