Usually, a lot of band's earlier versions of song have a certain sound and feeling that later recordings fail to capture, but I love this. They kept the song the same, just made everything sound a little better. :)
Exactly...almost every re-recorded song (that's worth redoing) I have ever heard...although there is better gear/recording technique involved...the soul is not there (in the same initial way). You can only capture that once.

Haha, yeah, Shane has really come a long way since their early days. Watch any video of them live in like '03-'04 and compare it to one from the past year or two. It's awesome :)
SVXXX MEDIA not true. Shane discusses the making of the album in a bonus episode of his podcast and he said the producer used heavy auto tune on that album back when that was still a new technology and the producer wasn’t very good at it. Shane, not being that great of a singer back then, relied on it a lot to not have to take so many takes anymore to get the right one. All Silverstein albums have some level of auto tune, as do almost all albums in this genre.
I love listening to the original one to this one and just like be amazed by Shane's vocals improving so much, honestly a band I could never stop listening too. :P
Mastering is the final process of audio production where a mastering engineer unifies your songs/albums with use of EQ, gain, and compression to give it a consistent sound from track to track. That way, some parts won't sound louder than others within a song. Silverstein re-recorded this song, meaning they started from scratch and re-recorded every part (vocals, guitars, bass, drums).
I’m my opinion, a good band re-records their old well-written songs and improves it. Like Shane in this new version, he has improved with his screams and clean vocals and this re recording proves it. Back in 2003 this song was obviously recorded not very well when it came to his screams. The song(or even whole album) Silverstein wrote got way less than it deserved to be. I’m just happy that this song reached its full potential.
This has way more autotune than the first version. Believe me, I like this version more too, but it's autotuned, pretty heavily actually. But autotune is a must in producing these days.
Kenny Quick Idk if you don't realize that it's not actually autotune that makes it sound like this. Just because the vocal production sounds very clear does NOT mean it's autotune. Compression and many other things can make vocals sound this clear. There is pitch correction in almost all recordings but not enough in this one to actually say it's auto tune making him sound like this. Just him being a good singer behind a good producer.
There's no auto-tune in this song, nor the other song. As Jeremy said, just a good singer with a good music producer. Auto-tune has a mega distinct sound to it which makes it so easy to point out. You either don't know what auto-tune actually sounds like, or getting it confused with something else, like the sound of the backing vocals harmonizing with the lead vocals during the bridge for example.

I love this version but personally I like the old one better. Reason being that it sounded so raw. The vocals were so raw and full of emotion. You could practically feel the heartbreak in his screams. I love new Silverstein and like I said I love this version but the older, more raw version will always hold a place in my heart.
Just notice how much Shane and his vocals has improved. Not saying that the original is bad I ADORE IT! But the diction of his screaming is better and at parts it kinda sounded whinyish are now clean. I love this band and they wont ever stop baffling me with w.e they put out.
i wouldn't say heartbreak in screams, he inhaled back then, he kinda had no choice than to sound like that in the old version, if you ask me his screams now show way more passion. it might not be as raw, but that's just because they got a lot better at recording, and new recording technology helps too.

Dakotah Stricker I once saw this one music video for a Silverstein song, and there was this guy who was sad about his girlfriend, so he trashed his room and curled up and cried. That was the whole music video, and it was very uncomfortable to watch. Do you remember what that song was?
