This is not the song which brought me to Silverstein (it was Smile in your sleep btw)... but as you wrote 20 years... I know specially this song for about 3-5 years or so, and I know it was their first big hit... wtf its really 20 years... we're really getting old my friend.... :/ xD
Very bad lol but you can tell over the years the practice and improvement he has made. When he learned the difference between fry screams and using false cords. I'm glad he fixed it, otherwise he wouldn't be able to do anything like this these days@@xintlzer3354
Does anyone else remember when that guy on 'American Idol' auditioned with this song? I believe it was the year Carrie Underwood won. The judges hated it, my mom muted the TV, and at 13/14 years old, I told her "You just don't get it" for the first time. Oh life...
LYRICS: Never again I'll slit my throat with the knife I pulled out of my spine Maybe when you find out that I'm dead You'll realize what you did to me And if my lungs still let me breathe Would you be there for me? If I can make myself believe I'll give you back what you took away No, I won't let it go Douse myself in gasoline So don't save me when you come into the fire I'd rather die than have to see your smile And if my lungs still let me breathe Would you be there for me? If I can make myself believe I'll give you back what you took away You made me swear You made me swear I, I can't sleep Realize all these things that you took from me Smash my heart (You made me swear) Into dust (You made me swear) Suffocate my mind (You made me swear) Tear at me from inside (You made me swear) Smash apart what you created How can I ever stop you from crushing my soul? It was, it was yours, yours to begin with And if my lungs still let me breathe Would you be there for me? If I can make myself believe I'll give you back what you took away
I'm 35 and I grew up in the heyday of this type of music, I'm just here to say how fortunate I feel to have been around for all this and seen almost all these bands live at least once. Screamo will never die!
I remember being 14 and literally listening to Silverstein over and over. Only just started to listen to them again and I just feel as though I'm falling in love with the band again, damn.
I can't believe I skipped over these guys when I was a kid...and I literally listened to a lot of bands like this, they got a ton of good songs...so far every song I've tried to listen to has been awesome.
Not much as changed over the last decade for these guys. They still make similar sounding music but better production now. I love it. Love this band, never change no matter what people say!
It’s one of those songs I’m gonna always hold close to me, not only just from childhood, but from the newer memories I made with a certain person. with this album as a whole and listening to it with them brought my soul back to life in a way I’ll never be able to put into proper words.
My 12 year old heart sang when I heard this song in a snippet booth at Best Buy one day. Thank you for introducing me to this stuff! I rock out to this day
No one really likes this. That's why this comment thread is full of overgrown kids asking how this nasty little fad could die; where did it go? Simple. No one liked it.
I grew up listening to this band.. I’ll never forget riding in the car with my dad and he would have it playing so loud that I would almost get embarrassed 😭love you dad ❤️
Que tiempos!!! Qué nostalgia siento al volver escuchar esta banda a los 25 años jajaja. Conocí est banda a los 17 años. Me siento emo nuevamente 😂😂. Alguien más escuchando esto???
@@clintbeasthood9758 sounds like a garbage disposal full of drywall screws. I agree with chris. He's 100% improved. He's even said that when they made this album he didn't know how to scream, so he adlibbed it.
If you listen to his podcast Lead Singer Syndrome, he talks about when the band was formed how he was never really a singer but they needed one so he said "fuck it". Shane is the man 🤟
Definitely. As they made new albums his screamo voice got better and better. I still love all their albums, the feels! I'm 30 and this takes me back to high school :')
Honestly same, since metalcore and post hardcore are similar, that means more Silverstein and I would finally get a chance to go big with my metalcore band 🤔 NEEDS TO HAPPEN
@@icchorist RU-vid suggested it to me and I thought "ill give this an open minded try" Then I heard screaming and had to learn who listens to this garbage.
@@kendomyers Why you gotta let people know tho...If I didnt like a song, it's much easier to remove it from my watch history and forget about it, than to boast how much I dont like it in the comments
I don’t care what anyone says. After 20+ years of their career, Silverstein is one of the few remaining bands, which: 1) still exists without ever breaking up 2) hasn’t gone into pop sound (yes, Silverstein is not exactly the same band as it used to be, but name one band, which hasn’t changed completely over 20+ years of its course. I bet that you’ll not find any bands, which have stayed exactly the same throughout their careers) 3) has most of its original line up 4) still has amazing live performances These are the reasons why Silverstein is still my favorite (number one) band. I’m extremely tired of seeing complaints about their newest albums starting from A Beautiful Place to Drown. YOU CAN’T EXPECT THE BAND TO WRITE SONGS/ALBUMS IN THE SAME STYLE AS THEY’VE BEGUN 20+ YEARS AGO FOREVER! THEY WANTED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW AND YOU CAN’T BLAME THEM FOR THAT! To be honest, I’m surprised that Silverstein hasn’t decided to try something new for 20 years. JUST PLEASE LET SILVERSTEIN TO BE WHAT THEY WANT TO DO WITH THEIR MUSIC! BE THANKFUL THAT WE STILL HAVE THIS AMAZING BAND!
How is this 19 years old? I've spent over half my life knowing of Silverstein than not. These years of knowing have been the best. Thank you for the vibes.
I discovered these guys when I was 12. I’m 24 now, and they’re still my all time favorite. They will forever have my heart. They were there for me when nobody else was, and it’s just special to me.
I used to listen to Silverstein religiously lol. Just listening to my old emo jams from when I was in high school while I’m on my way to my 9-5 😂 I don’t miss my emo days. But I do miss the good music.
22 Years old, this song is amazing. It represents everything I’m feeling. My past, present, and future flashing before my eyes. Gotta fight to the end and make sure I become who I’m meant to be.
That nostalgia tho... Pretty sure that this very song - this beauty - was the song that brought me into the genre.. Kinda crazy when I think about it; that I was listening to this at the age of like 12.. And yet it STILL sounds just as amazing now, as it did all those years ago.
i used to sing this song at the top of my lungs back in freshman year of high school in the hallways and i'd do it again hahah this song is fucking great
i didn't realize how much influence i took from silverstein until i came back and listened to all my old jams. one of my favorite bands when i was a teenager.
RWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH AAAAAAAAHHHH!!! Holy shit that was hilarious listening to. Laughed so hard. This band has definitely improved a lot.
One of the best, most consistent bands ever. I can't think of any other bands where I can just throw on any album any number track and enjoy it. Hands down phenomenal
VersionBest Today's music isn't garbage, just a lot of the popular stuff is garbage. You have to avoid the bland mainstream music nowadays if you wanna find something good.
same tbh. I remember having a xanga that was called something to do with buried a lie. I know it’s a different song. I do honestly kinda miss those easy days where things where songs and school drama sucked in our eyes bsck then. If I could remember exactly what my username was back then, I’d be happy lol. I’d have access to lots of old memories. Either way, listening to Senses Fail, brings me back to way back then. I miss it when things were more simple back then.
Hello There! I’m Angie and my dream is to be a singer, I have some covers of me singing on my channel can you please check it out? I know is a lot to ask but please help me, I’ll be grateful to you.
Ever since I was 14 and listening to this album these guys were one of the first I appreciated as musicians and a band. They inspired me vocal wise and guitar wise. Now I'm 29 and still pumping their new and old jams. Always will love these guys!
Shoutout to the Victory Records sampler that came with my copy of The Silence In Black And White by Hawthorne Heights that had this music video, The Crimson by Atreyu, and Masterpiece by Bayside on it. That started it all.
***** i love every one of their albums. Personally there's not many bands that I felt evolved as well as silverstein, they're sound has been true to the original fans. Plus live their incredible
Still have fond memories of bullshitting with the Shane and the rest of the guys in the band for about an hour while they did their laundry and I ate my Wendy's in the motel over Ace's Basement in Greensboro, I wanna say in May of 2004... Miss that venue... saw a LOT of amazing shows there between 2002 and 2005 when I lived in NC.
