it was a 68 fastback...its the same car as a 67 the only way you can tell the difference is the 68 has the side marker lights and 67 does not.... as for the steering wheel...Steve McQueen hated the stock wheel so he had a GT500 Shelby wheel installed...so they put the same wheel in the homage car.... those steering wheels are crazy money these days

Timothy Cote The 1968 year caught people off guard for the new European side markers. Chrysler went with that little chrome light disk and i think the rule was that the rear had to be red because Ford used clear lens marker light on the front of the Stang but the turning bulb of lens had to be Amber in 3 US states. The early Mustangs built in 1967 as a 1968 had two holes punched in the panel for a Reflector mounted on a thick chrome base , the new engineers changed the stamping to recess the reflector as a flush unit as seen on the Bullitt version and the 1968 Highland Green fastback I bought in 1977 that had black interior too . The Bullitt Stang did not have the optional Cone back-up lights or the rear apron piece from a GT that had the dual exhaust Eyebrow cutaways , the rear views of shows the dual straight pipes with hangers plus the rear quarter past the door with the fake scoop Chrome bar was removed . I read that two cars were ordered as one was the stunt being abused, there is a scene where it looks like the dash unit was the optional Wood grain trim. When Steve gets in the Mustang at the car wash and slams the door shut, it's exactly what mine sounded like as the window glass chrome trim slaps the weather stripping and the lock click echoes in the door to make a thud/click . Even the rocker panel trim has the chips in the paint from that annoying seat belt tongue that would fall down when the door is opened and hit at the same spot. I also had the optional functioning B pillar vents for fresh air in the rear. I let my girlfriend use it since I had another car I bought to replace the 1964 1/2 Mustang V8 , and that's all I have to say about that , and for the record....I'm not bitter for what the seahag did to it.

You have seen Bullitt, right? The bad guy car is a black '68 Charger. And in reality, that beautiful '67 Mustang GT couldn't keep up with the 440 Charger on San Francisco's hills. The stunt driver had to slow the Dodge down.

Chris C. The mustang was 2950lbs with 425HP, the charger is 3750lbs with only 375 horsepower. NO way the charger was faster. Not to mention the mustang handles better than a charger. those chargers don't even have sway bars.

Stephen Bagnell are you high??? watch Bullitt again the mustang is at the red line the whole time and the charger is not even breaking a sweat...and 425hp from a 390??? this is the published spec 390 cu in (6.4 L) FE V8 (1968) 4-barrel 325 bhp (242 kW; 330 PS) @ 4,800 427 lb·ft (579 N·m) @ 3,200...that's 325hp....those 440 mopars are sickkkkk don't get me wrong I love the mustang too but seriously watch the chase scene and watch the behind the scenes they all said the charger was an animal and even with modifications the mustang couldn't keep up.... the chager in this remake looks twisted in the corners but for the original movie both cars were beefed up

When the Ford hit the redline it`s because of the rear-end gearing, not lack of Power. Too bad the Ford didn`t have a 427 enegine, they outpowered any competition
