In this video, Dr. Ashley Conway explains silvopasture systems. What it is and what it isn't. She will walk you through the details of the three managed components: trees, grasses, and animals.
Dr. Conway leads a lab working on investigating intensive, integrated tree-forage-livestock systems (silvopasture) to raise livestock more sustainably. Projects are focused on understanding livestock interactions with forage, crops and trees in order to better understand the logistical, economic, environmental, and social dynamics of silvopasture systems in Missouri and the Midwest.
