@@linolafettatnet yes absolutely. Still using mine and see no reason to change although I see companies selling profile in different colours now which look very nice.
@@jonboy2950 thank you very much for the reply, johnboy. Then i will buy it as well and will have a good time with it :) I am happy with a neutral black colour.
Thanks for your question Lino. Apologies for the late reply; I was only notified of your comment via the RU-vid Studio phone app and not on desktop, for some reason. 🤔 Thanks to Jon for already sharing his thoughts. 🙏 I would completely agree and I still recommend the GT1 Evo to any sim racer looking for their first aluminium profile rig. I go into more detail about this in my recent GT1 Pro review: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gTf-vvNA39g.html Hope that helps. 👍
Super well thought out and presented! Thank you! I really want to get this rig, and it seems like a pretty good value for how sturdy it is, even with the 155 euro shipping to the US.
Thanks so much for your kind words Colin-I really appreciate it. I was really impressed with how strong and adaptable the GT1 Evo is. I can’t think of anything that this rig couldn't handle becuase you can easily reinforce sections if needed. Let me know if you do decide to go for it. 👍
Stoked you liked the review HerrBauer-you’ll have a blast with this rig. Aluminum profile is just like a big Lego set, so assembly is quite straightforward. If you need a bit of extra guidance though, check out Barry Roland’s excellent step-by-step build guide (I’ve linked to it in the video description). 👍
It’s easy. It’s actually fun. If you haven’t assembled it already make sure to watch the Sim Racing Garage tutorial and get some screwdriver style Allen wrenches.
Thanks for your kind words and feedback Brad-I'm stoked you liked the review. Regarding the music, was it the volume or the type of music that bothered you?
Great review! What do I need to have my rig finished and ready? 1) GT1-Evo cockpit 2) Speed1 seat 3) Bucket seat bracket set. Is it enough? I've seen Sparco seat slider, but I didn't see it in you video so I assume it is optional... I don't really need it. Thank you in advance :)
Thanks Nico, I’m stoked you liked the review. Yeah, the seat slider is completely optional-you only need it if you want to adjust the seat position on the fly. You might, however, want to add a shifter mounting bracket and GT1 Evo single screen holder, if you want to mount your monitor. Hope that helps. 👍
@@ADAPTNetwork Wow, super fast reply! Well, I don't need the screen holder for now because I have my monitor attached to my desk (my screen is shared between simrig and everyday use), and I would move the entire rig on the caster wheels when I want to drive. And yes, shifter mb can be a smart purchase (I have a CSL Elite F1 for now so no shifter at the moment, but I'm considering the idea of buying one). Thank you again mate :)
Great review!! quick question if... I currently have the GT Omega Apex Wheel Stand with Rear Seat frame and was wondering if I could use the seat with the Sim-Lab GT1? The Seat has a slider... hoping it will be a straight bolt on. Thanks
Thanks for your question Charan. Yes, you should be able to bolt the seat frame directly to the GT1 Evo seat rails via the seat sliders. Slide the seat sliders forward and back to expose the bolting points and bolt through to four T-nuts in the seat rails. Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your comment VRR. The GT1 Evo is likely more than big enough for your height. It’s 135cm in length and, as you can see from the video ( 2:02), I have the pedal deck uprights and the seat rails set three inches from the edges. Additionally, I have the seat set quite far forward on the seat rails-so there’s plenty of scope to extend the leg length. Depending on your build, however, you may need to opt for a larger seat like the Sim Lab SPEED1 XL. For reference, I'm about 5ft 9.5 inches (176.5cm) and average build. Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your question sidestand. My Acer Predator X34 came with a custom VESA adapter to compensate for the curve. Which monitor do you have? Perhaps you could source a similar adapter from the manufacturer or online. Hope that helps. 👍
Does anyone have any idea what the weight capacity is on the GT1 Evo? Looking to upgrade from a wheel stand but I am 6’ 8” and heavy as well. Don’t want to order a cockpit only to find out it doesn’t work for me. Thanks!
Thanks for your question Nick-apologies for the slightly delayed reply. The GT1 Evo should be more than big enough for your height. It’s 135cm in length and, as you can see from the video (2:02), I have the pedal deck uprights and the seat rails set three inches from the edges. Additionally, I have the seat set quite far forward on the seat rails-so there’s plenty of scope to extend the leg length. The base frame is very strong, so weight should not be an issue. However, you may need to opt for a larger seat like the Sim Lab SPEED1 XL. For reference, I'm about 5ft 9.5 inches (176.5cm) and average build. Hope that helps mate. 👍
Well, I'm convinced that this is the rig I want now. Ordered the NLR GT-Track, but haven't received it yet. My biggest concern about the GT Track is the adjustability of the wheel deck and shifter mount. GT-Evo seems to have every possible adjustment I can think of.
I haven‘t tried the NLR GTtrack, but from what I can see from the specs it looks to be quite adjustable. That being said, you‘ll be hard pressed to find a more adjustable rig than the GT1 Evo as aluminium profile is like a big lego set-you can attach new peices anywhere you like. If you do decide to go for the GT1 Evo, I‘m confident you won‘t be disappointed. Hope that helps with your decision. Let me know what you go for in the end. 👍
@@ADAPTNetwork After some research I ended up getting the P1-X just to be lifetime proof, even though I do believe the GT1 Evo is more than good enough for my type of usage.
Thanks for your question JG. Both rigs have their pros and cons, with the NLR GT Elite being easier to make adjustments and the Sim-Lab GT1 Evo utlising thicker-grade aluminium profile. I'm also currently reviewing the Sim-Lab GT1 Pro, which I'd highly recommend as it takes the best bits from both rigs ( adaptnet.work/GT1Pro ). Hope that helps mate. 👍
Thanks for your comment Fr-I'm stoked you liked the review. I've yet to test a Track Racer cockpit. However, I know that the aluminium profile utlised by Sim-Lab is thicker, so that's something to consider. Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your comment Dan. I have had a similar issue with the plastic corner bracket covers; they sometimes fall off when I slide the rig around the room. To fix this, I secured the covers with small pieces of black electrical insulating tape. If you don't mind the tape showing, you could also use duct tape. It's not the most elegant solution, but it does the job. Hope that helps. 👍
@@ADAPTNetwork Thanks for the tip. How comfortable is the simlab seat for 1-2 hour stints? I currently have a sliding, reclinable seat but after 20 minutes i get back pain. Kinda solved the issue with a memory foam pillow but it gets hot and i only have around 12 degrees of leg angle to the pedals, your seat looks more comfortable.
No worries @@danut05. I find that the Sim-Lab SPEED 1 seat is quite comfortable and provides ample support-even during long sessions. I run it at the maximum tilt angle of 15° (5:35), which provides a realistic GT driving position. When purchasing a seat, I would recommend double checking the dimensions to ensure a good fit. if you’re above average build, opt for the XL version or a wider race seat like the Sim-Lab SPEED2. For reference, I'm about 5ft 9.5 inches (176.5cm) and average build and the regular-sized SPEED 1 fits me well.

Which monitor are you using? And what size do you recommend? Is 32" enough?
Thanks for your question Beni. It's a 34″ Acer Predator X34. Being a 21:9 ultrawide, it's a nice size and aspect ratio for sim racing, general gaming and productivity. A 16:9 32" monitor would also work well. Though, the extra screen real estate you get with an ultrawide is useful for sim racing and flight sims. Hope that helps. 👍
I have another question. From the video the GT1 wheelbase uprights looks really short compared to the P1-X’s wheelbase uprights? Is it sufficient enough in height relative to one’s torso lined up to the wheelbase while in seat?
No worries VRR-I'm glad I can help. I think the wheel mount uprights are plenty tall enough. They measure 58cm (66cm if you include the base) and you can fine tune your wheel position by adjusting the angle of the wheel plate. In this video, I use the Thrustmaster TX wheel base. The wheel plate is positioned quite high because it needs to be angled downward for correct wheel positioning. However, I'm currently running the Fanatec CSL DD wheel base, which is positioned a few inches lower and angled upright. Does that make sense?
Hello! Do u think is good for 1.84cm height? Seems very short 2. Do u know how much is the shipping cost in Europe? 3. Your seat is better than sparco r100 ?
Thanks for your questions Bobby-I’ll do my best to answer them (below). 1. The GT1 Evo is more than big enough for your height. It’s 135cm in length and, as you can see from the video ( 2:02), I have the pedal deck uprights and the seat rails set three inches from the edges. Additionally, I have the seat set quite far forward on the seat rails-so there’s plenty of scope to extend the leg length. For reference, I'm about 5ft 9.5 inches (176.5cm) and average build. 2. If you buy the rig from Digital Motorsports ( adaptnet.work/GT1Evo ), then economy shipping to most European countries currently costs €115.74. If you buy direct from Sim-Lab, I think it‘s currently €122.42. 3. I haven’t tried the Sparco R100, but it looks to have similar dimensions to the SPEED1 (which I have). The Sparco R100 is more of a sport seat with recline function, whereas the SPEED1 is a fixed bucket seat with high bolster for extra support. I found the SPEED1 to be very comfortable, but if you‘re above average build I think you may find the Sparco R100 a little roomier. Otherwise, it just comes down to personal preference. Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your question Bzrnsy. I recieved the rig before the new Brexit arrangements came into place. However, I would expect delivery to still take less than 1 week from Ireland to the UK. I hope that helps mate. 👍
great video, however its unclear how you mounted the thrustmaster th8a shifter, could please explain or share pictures how you really mounted the shifter.
Hi Koi, that's a great question. I used the TH8A shifter mounting plate from Sim-Lab ( adaptnet.work/6Muv ). This simply bolts to the shifter arm using the included countersunk screw and T-nut. You can then use two or four bolts to mount the shifter depending on how close you want to position it. Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your comment antraX. I just checked Digital Motorsports ( adaptnet.work/2zxl ), and shipping to the US is also around $200. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any US specific Sim-Lab distributors. Sorry I can't be of more help here.
Hey I'm looking at getting this rig, as I'm planning on upgrading to a load cell brake and direct drive wheel in the near future. Anyway I want to save some money on a chair and I was wondering if you could just mount any chair onto this rig even if it's designed for sim racing?
Thanks for your question Ryan and apologies for the delayed reply. You can mount pretty much any car seat you like to the GT1 Evo. If you have a side-mount seat, you can use the bucket seat brackets ( adaptnet.work/5zmE ). Otherwise, you can base-mount a seat directly to the seat rails using a seat slider ( adaptnet.work/7jG5 ). Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your question Vincent. To build the same setup as the one I review in this video, you’ll need the Sim-Lab GT1 Evo cockpit ( adaptnet.work/GT1Evo ), bucket seat brackets ( adaptnet.work/5zmE ), the Sim-Lab SPEED1 bucket seat ( adaptnet.work/3GAg ), the Sim-Lab shifter & handbrake mount ( adaptnet.work/6Muv ), and the Sim-Lab GT1 Evo single screen holder ( adaptnet.work/6Mun ). I’ve added links to Digital-Motorsports, however you can also get these directly from Sim-Lab. Hope that helps. 👍
This was recommended to me as well, but having a hard time finding it in Japan. I'll keep looking around though. It looks like this would be good for an F1 setup, no?
Thanks for your comment NxN. Sim-Lab ships worldwide if you buy directly from them ( adaptnet.work/GT1Evo ). However, for an F1 setup, I would recommend the Next Level Racing F-GT Elite ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fLk8sa8Kv_k.html ). Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your question Martin. It's a 34″ Acer Predator X34. Being a 21:9 ultrawide, it's a nice size and aspect ratio for sim racing, general gaming and productivity.
How's the seat height and width? I'm 191 cm (6'3) and pretty wide, will it be good for me? Watched the video, so the seat in the video isn't for me probably. What could be? Choosing a seat seems to be difficult.
Thanks for your question KaLaka. If you can get hold of one, I'd recommed the XL version of the Sim-Lab Speed 1 ( adaptnet.work/Speed1XL ). Else, Sparco makes wider versions of some models. Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your comment Mettfisch. I’m not sure which piece of equipment you are reffering to, as you left this out of your question. However, the GT1-Evo is highly adjustable, so it is possible to change the position of every mounting point and bring the wheel, pedals, shifter and screen closer to you. Hope this answers your question. If not, please let me know. 👍
No worries @@mettfisch2624. Yes, using the single screen holder, you can move the monitor a little closer to the wheel. As you can see from the video (11:30), I have room to move the screen about two inches closer. If that’s not enough though, I would recommend using a free-standing monitor mount. Hope that helps. 👍
Great review! Really job well done! Ordered mine last Friday. My only complaint with the purchase process was the seat. I did not want to spend +300 euro on a Sparco seat and it seems that their cheapest seat that their website says is available for European customers is not available for orders to Ireland. On top of that there is wide variety of choice on car parts websites and since this rig is designed to fit any car seat I ended up ordering OPM seat here in Ireland while saving 100 Euro in comparison to what SimLab offers on their site. So piece of advice for anyone who is tighter on their budget, you can get seats cheaper elsewhere! You can even go to car scrapyard and pick up something there...I would probably do it but with lockdown in full swing...that wasn't an option haha. How long did you wait for the rig arrival since you placed the order?
Thanks for your support Kamil-I really appreciate it. 👍 Splitting up the rig and seat ordering process does have it’s pros and cons, like you say. Overall though, I think it works well and means that people can pick a seat that fits their budget and requirements. The adaptability of the GT1 Evo means that you can use pretty much any car seat that you want. One of my sim racing friends also has this rig and is using an old car seat. Like you mentioned, it’s a great way to get started on a tight budget. Let me know how you get on with your OMP seat. Which specific seat model did you go for in the end? My rig was delivered last year and there was a few week delay due to the backlog at the time. However, I think Sim-Lab has recently opened a second production facility in Germany, which has helped to reduce backlogs moving forward.
That's great to hear @@elmalloc. The P1-X looks like a beast of a rig. I found the GT1 Evo to be impressively strong, so I can't imagine anything that the P1-X couldn't handle. Which seat did you decide to pair with it?
@@ADAPTNetwork They dispatched it today. So impressive speed considering I ordered it last Friday. Fanatec on the other hand took a week to dispatch load cell pedal for my CSL pedals. haha This is the OMP seat I ended up with www.murraymotorsport.com/trs-x-steel-frame-seat I'm not sure what I am more excited about: DD1 wheel base that I ordered or the SimLabs rig. For the last 2 years I've been using Playseat challenge with my CSL elite wheel and I'm really starting to feel it in my back and neck. Playseat chalenge is extremally handy for tight spaces since you can fold the whole rig and hide it behind the couch, but there are compromises in comfort especially over longer driving sessions. On top of that...it's basically modified fishing chair haha. It is not the sturdiest thing. Over time it developed a lot of flex which I fixed to some extent with home made solutions...Before that I drove with my wheel attached to the ironing board :D So this will be my first super sturdy rig. I'm expecting huuuuge comfort and quality of life upgrade from it.
@@kamael1125 Awesome mate-that's great to hear (the OMP TRS-X seat looks like a nice choice). The Playseat Challenge was also my first sim racing rig (I compared it the the NLR F-GT Lite here:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B9w_4PwtAj4.html). It's a nifty little cockpit to get started and perfect for console racing. Like you though, I also found it a little uncomfortable during long sessions. In comparison, the GT1 Evo is a dream to drive in. When you set it up, I would recommend taking the time to dial in the tilt of your seat (see here for tips: 5:33). Enjoy the new rig bud. 👍
Thanks for your question Tim. Yes, there are enough M6 screws included in the kit to mount your wheel, pedals, and shifter. I would, however, recommend picking up a pack of M6 washers to ensure a tight and secure connection to the frame. Extra M8 screws, to mount a seat, are also included with the seat brackets. Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your question tyncam. In order to mount a seat, you need to purchase the additional side-mount seat brackets (5.28). These come with with the necessary bolts and can be picked up for around €39 EUR ( adaptnet.work/5zmE ). Hope that helps. 👍
No worries @@tyncam24-I’m really glad you found my review useful. We’ll be publishing some new sim racing content over the next few weeks, so keep an eye open for that. See you on the virtual race track. 🏎🏁
Thanks for your question @@dalemiller1441, sorry for the late reply. The T3PM pedals, that come with the T248 wheel, have a few different mounting points. Two mounting points at the back, underneath the throttle and clutch pedals (as with the T3PA pedals I use in this video), and three at the front. The Sim-Lab P1-X comes with two pieces of alumimium profile for the pedal deck, on which you can only mount select pedals directly (those which have bolt access from above). So, to mount the T3PM pedals, you’ll need to get the additional pedal slider baseplate ( adaptnet.work/6VLj ). I linked to Digital-Motorsports here, but you can also get the baseplate, with or without seat sliders and a heel rest, directly from Sim-Lab. You first need to mount your pedals to the baseplate, and then the baseplate to the aluminium profile. Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your questions Péter. I have the regular size Sim-Lab SPEED1 seat (4:07). At its tightest point, the seat measures 33cm across. So, if you’re above average build, opt for the XL version or a wider race seat like the Sim-Lab SPEED2. The monitor I’m using is the 34″ Acer X34.
Thanks for your question Brady. In my opinion, if you’re the only person that will be using the rig, then there is no need to use seat sliders-you can simply bolt the seat in place to match your ideal driving position. However, if different people of different heights will be using the rig, then seat sliders would prove useful. Hope that helps. 👍
Hello ! Can i mount the pedal plate without the uprights? I like the pedal plate flat and lower to the ground or maybe even down tilted a little bit in the front ,thanks
Thanks for your question ZiK. The Acer Predator X34 works brilliantly for sim racing. A single monitor is a lot easier to set up and run than a triple screen setup. The 21:9 aspect ratio also provides a decent field of view and the 100Hz refresh rate (latest model now has 120Hz), is more than enough for sim racing. In the near future though, I’m looking to upgrade to a 49″ super ultrawide, for a larger field of view. So, if space and budget isn’t an issue, I would recommend going with a 32:9 aspect ratio monitor. Else, something like the Acer Predator X34 will still work really well. Hope that helps. 👍
@@ADAPTNetwork Thanks :) I was between 21:9 IPS and VA but I will get IPS and in the future I will take IPS to my PC and maybe get LG OLED for sim rig if I am crazy enough :) But for now I will get 21:9 :)
Great choice @@Elementpunx. The Acer Predator X34 has an IPS display and it has good colour accuracy and vibrance. I’m not the biggest fan of OLED screens for gaming because they are more susceptible to screen burn-in. Though I think this is improving with the latest iterations.
Thanks for your question Spartan. While the GT1 Evo can handle high-torque direct drive wheels, I would actually recommend the new GT1 Pro ( adaptnet.work/GT1Pro ). I'm currently reviewing this rig, so stay posted for that. But, in summary, the GT1 Pro utilises bespoke alloy plates, to join pieces of profile, and the base profile is pre-machined, so that it bolts together directly. This all results in a stronger overall build. Additionally, it comes with hardwre to mount motion servo systems. Hope that helps. 👍
I was considering the rig but 1. having to damage corner brackets for it to work really comes across as a half baked design. Couldn’t the company have customised them for you? 2. The list of hardware that is confirmed compatible doesn’t include multiple new popular products and they can’t confirm if it will work. They should keep this info up to date.
Thanks for your comment WVS and sorry for the late reply. Sim Lab's style is to put together aluminium profile kits using off-the-shelf components and some custom pieces. I think this helps balance ease-of-build and price for the user. Both the wheel and pedal plates are pre-drilled to fit a wide range of hardware, so it will work with most wheels and pedals even if it's not listed on the website. To be safe though, I'd recommend sending Sim Lab a quick email if you have a specific wheel and/or pedal set in mind. If you're looking for a fully customised aluminium rig out-of-the-box, I'd recommend the Next Level Racing GT Elite: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-czXXNvPJaPI.html
Thanks for your comment Tobiamus-I’m stoked you liked the review. My rig arrived pre-Brexit. However, you can order the GT1 Evo from Digital-Motorsports here (once it’s restocked): adaptnet.work/GT1Evo. They are based in Ireland and have published a blog post about the new Brexit arrangements. My understanding is that 20% VAT is applied when the shipment enters mainland UK. This will be charged to the buyer by the shipping company alongside a small handling fee (2.5% of the VAT and a minimum of £11.00). Hope that helps. 👍
Thanks for your question TheDummies. For sure, an adapter should do the trick. The VESA mount that comes with the GT1 Evo single screen holder supports VESA patterns 100 x 100mm, 100 x 200mm and 200 x 200mm. So you’ll need an adapter that converts one of these patterns to 75 x 75mm. Hope that helps.👍
Thanks for your question @@Abbbk35. The GT1 Evo single screen holder is sold separately ( adaptnet.work/6Mun ). It’s depth and height adjustable and mounts VESA patterns 100 x 100mm, 100 x 200mm and 200 x 200mm. 👍

Great question Oren. You‘ll need to use two shifter and handbrake mounting brackets (one for the shifter and one for the handbrake). These are available from Sim-Lab, or you can fabricate your own. You might get away with mounting the handbrake directly behind the shifter on the side mount that comes with the GT1 Evo. However, depending on your equipment, it might be worth purchasing an extra mounting point from Sim-Lab, or some extra aluminium profile, to strengthen the side mount, or if you wanted to mount the handbrake and shifter side-by-side. Hope that helps mate. 👍

No worries Stewrt. The GT1 Evo is 135 x 58cm (2:02). Depending on where you mount the seat though, the rig may be a bit longer. I bumped the seat forward (along with the wheel and pedals) to keep the footprint of the rig as small as possible. Hope that helps. 👍

Thanks for your comment TopSelections. While you could probably source the aluminium profile slightly cheaper, the advantage of purchasing a kit like this is that everything comes pre-cut (with soft edges) to fit together perfectly. All of the hardware to assemble the rig is also included, along with some spares, and the bespoke wheel and pedal decks make it a lot easier to mount your equipment and fine-tune your driving position. Currently, you can pick up the GT1 Evo from Digital Motorsports for about £330 (VAT included) ( adaptnet.work/GT1Evo ). At this price, I think the GT1 Evo is a great deal-especially, when compared to some other alumnium profile rigs like the new Next Level Racing F-GT Elite. You do have to purchase a seat separately, but this is also the case with most other aluminium profile cockpits. The great thing is that this rig will support almost any car seat you like, so you can start with a really cheap second hand one and upgrade down the line.
Thanks for your comment Mika. You are right that you could probably source the aluminium profile slightly cheaper. However, the advantage of purchasing a kit like this is that everything comes pre-cut (with soft edges) to fit together perfectly. In the end, I think there are advantages to either route. 👍
Where can you get this for that amount and wheel deck as well as the pedal deck? Very curious as nothing comes close to this in terms of value, fit and finish.
Haha, for sure-the GT1 Evo is a beast and can handle most hardware you throw at it. In this video though, I wanted to illustrate the upgrade path that I think a lot of people will take (first upgrading the rig and then the hardware). I’m planning to make a follow up video with a direct drive wheel and load cell pedals in the near future. 👍
Thanks for your question ex1t. In my opinion, the GT1 Evo single screen holder ( adaptnet.work/6Mun ) is the perfect option for running an ultrawide or one of the latest generation 49″ super ultrawides. I found that it performed flawlessly with my setup-securely holding my 34″ Acer X34 in place without any flex issues. Hope that helps. 👍
