Hey everyone! I finally joined the Direct Drive club! I am beyond excited to unbox, mount and test my brand new Simagic Alpha Mini alongside the Simagic GTC wheel.
Are you considering purchasing either this wheelbase and/or this wheel? Or did you already purchase this bundle and wonder how it will look and feel out of the box, or even how to mount it to your GT1 Evo? Then make sure to tune in! I'll go through this information, as well as setting up the software and where to find ffb settings, in this video.
Please consider that given my limited knowledge and use of direct drive wheels, I do not go in particular depth regarding the technical aspects of the wheel. If you're looking for an indepth technical breakdown of this wheel, I suggest heading over to Sim Racing Garage or similar channels!

just got my Alpha mini. blown away buy the build quality. coming from the T818 which gave me so much trouble. haven't got a wheel yet lol, will get the neo pay day lol. so looking forward to testing this baby out. oh and its really small. love the design. GTC wheel looks great but a little out of my price range, that will have to be a future treat.

I have mine mounted using just 2 holes on my GT1. It's absolutely solid and really doesn't need the other two drilled.

Hey mate, I am very glad to hear that it works perfectly well even just with 2 bolts - I thought about it, but ended up drilling because I wasn't 100% sure. I don't regret it, but absolutely great to see that there's an even simpler solution!

Put in orders for the same sim lab rig (but with triples) and alpha mini. I'm also coming from a t300 w/ wheel stand. Just got the email today that the rig's been shipped! Glad to hear you enjoyed the jump up to direct drive, can't wait to experience it for myself!

Your video was very helpful for me as I’ve been debating buying a GT1 Evo or Pro rig with a Simagic Alpha wheelbase and the mounting solutions used in practice were very very helpful as I don’t have them in front of me.

I'm about to get the Alpha Mini + GTR SR1 with clutch paddles, and P2000L combo. A great substitute for my old G27 (bought back in October 2009 when it came out, still working). Got an Oplite GTR S3 cockpit a month ago and hope I don't need to drill holes, but I don't have a problem to do that like you did with yours. Still looking at videos from people and man, the satisfaction when you hold that wheel in your hands...can't wait to feel the same! Congratulations! ;) Going to do millions of laps in rFactor 2 and Assetto Corsa for sure. ;)

I’m just now in the market to make the exact same step up from the T300 RS. This is very helpful. Your first look at this may have helped me make my decision. Just don’t know what wheel to get. Mostly in GT3 and GTP cars right now.

I have an alpha Ultimate mounted by just two bolts to my Evo and it’s perfectly solid. I’m going to buy the sim lab front mount plate for it but that’s really just for looks though.

Hey, thanks for the great video review! After a month of use, how do you feel about the mini 10nM? If you would go through this again, would you rather get the regular Alpha @ 15nM? I currently use a T300RS, same as you were before you got your mini, but I cna't make up my mind between the mini and the regular Alpha. Also, how do you like the GTC wheel? I'm almost set on it but still a little bit hesitant between this one and the FX. Thanks!

Hi Fred, my pleasure mate! I can confidently say that I am satisfied with the amount of power of the mini. At full power, the feedback is detailed and super responsive. It feels right to me. It’s heavy but not overwhelming. The Alpha is 300 euros more expensive, and I wonder how significantly different it must feel detail wise (because I wouldn’t want more heavy-ness). It might be worth it, but I am not 100% sure the difference would be worth the extra expenditure. If it’s in your budget, consider getting the alpha - you surely wont regret it anyway, and you’ve got yourself an endgame wheelbase. Very happy with the wheel too! Looking at the FX and the GTC side to side, it looks like some buttons, including the thumb encoders, are easier to reach on the FX. Those aren’t as easy to reach on the GTC as I expected. However, I really really wanted the rev lights on the wheel - that sealed the GTC for me. Both great choices honestly, let me know what you go for!

I have question about simagic. I see some reviewers on youtube. But, not many compared to simcube. Looking at simagic , I believe that they are a much better value. But , for some reason people don't talk about them nearly as much. Have you had any issues with the company , their products seem good. I just don't know about the support and software updates.

Hi Duane, so far so good with this bundle! I use it almost daily and it makes me truly happy, it works great. No experience yet dealing with Simagic directly, or with the retailer. The software updates are smooth and easy so far, I've only had to do one and no problem.

Hey Ivelin! If you decide to pull the trigger, you won’t be disappointed! The GT1 Evo is so good, and it will last forever. The chair I got is the Sparco R100. I sit in an upright position and find it comfortable, it fits my body quite well. It’s also reclinable,which is nice! Sitting upright, it supports my lower back well enough! If however you want to go for a formula seating position, a bucket seat might be better. I read they tend to be less comfortable then reclining/car-style chairs though, hence why I decided to go for this type of chair 😊

Bro my wheel is flashing blue and from what I understand I have to go through channels until it connects so if so how long do I sit at each channel ? This seems like a primitive way to do this. Help thank you

Hey do you know if the GTC Wheel rim can be removed to install any wheel rim? Possible to remove the 2 buttons in the center with no drilling required for the external wheel rim?

Hey! I did a bit of research, and my understanding is that you can exchange the wheel rim for any other rim with the same 6 bolt pattern and matching button holes. From what I read, you might need different screws depending on the width of the rim, but I think that’s always the case. Regarding what is underneath those central buttons in case you want to remove them without needing to drill holes in the external wheel, I am not 100% sure and I couldn’t find information on this specific to this wheel. I would suggest contacting your local retailer, they should know. If you’re in the EU, Simwear.eu was very helpful and responsive with me.

Hey Michele :) so my understanding is that in general pedals use a different usb port than wheelbases, hence they are technically perfectly separate peripherals in the majority of cases. So yes I think that’s possible!

Cheers Vlad 😊 that’s understandable, there’s a lot of good options out there. I am sure you will be happy either way. The reasons why I chose Simagic are mainly two: 1) the reviews of the alpha mini are overwhelmingly positive and 2) I could find it in stock! I would have had to wait at least 5 weeks for Fanatec or Moza. One thing you might consider to help you decide is which wheels do you like more? I personally like the style of the simagic wheels a bit more, and that pretty much sealed my decision. Also, from what I read it’s relatively easy to use non-simagic rims on the alpha mini. Good luck mate!

Nice Shawn, enjoy your new bundle! I considered this, but my T300 RS already had 4nm of force so I was afraid that the r5 wouldn’t feel stronger enough. To avoid buying that and eventually re-upgrading, I decided to go straight for 10nm. Should be good for a long time!

Great combo mate. Congrats. I have heard the GTC Wheel is too heavy for the Mini and therefore it would be better suited to couple it with the regular Alpha (15Nm). Does that make any sense?

I think people who love SimRacing tend to talk BS about gear. Because we all whink that better wheel will give us better perfomance. And this is BS. For most of people all this little things doesnt matter. I can't Imagine using 10NM base and talk about NOT enough power. I understand that but its still a lot of biases and BS. I've got TS-PC and actually it could be enough for everything. If you are PRO level sim racer of course you want to be the best so you look for the greatest feel.

I’ve heard the same and people saying that you will feel more detail when using a lighter wheel like the GT Neo on the Alpha Mini. I think the Alpha Mini would be perfect for me, and I do like the GTC wheel, but I tend to order the lighter GT Neo

Yes the GTC wheel uses the C shaped rim (I have the alcantara one) on the Simagic GT Pro Hub, which is the central part including all the buttons, dials, and paddle shifters. Simagic has 3 wheel rims for this hub: round, D shaped, and C shaped :)

Hey there, check the SimLab website, otherwise I am afraid it might come just with the GT1-Evo, which is the cockpit I use. Otherwise you could look into a Direct Drive front mount!

Hey mate, I am using Heusinkveld Sprint pedals! You can mix different brands of pedals and wheelbase as they will each connect on their own using USB. However, if you want to mix different types of pedals from different brands, I am not sure how that would go - not sure if that's what you meant!
