Thanks for covering this in more depth beyond your initial review! No matter where I was browsing, the same concern most people had between the variations were the same and this clears it up. HBB did touch upon it too but in case for those that don't watch his channel or need more than one source of information - it's great to have someone who understand these products like you talk about it. Cheers :)
I just copped the S08. Gonna wait till black friday to get the HBB EW300. Looking at the graphs the EW300 is super similar to the Cadenza (on your squig, but different on others like HBBs). The Cadenza is fire, and like HBB said the beryllium drivers are really some of the best sounding. You should do the reviews like this 11:43 where you put a paper over the written review and go down along the lines while talking about those points. 12:32 Why do I feel like they got the sets mixed up. If you look at HBBs new target 2022 he lowered the 5k region which is what Simgot did on the standard EW300 but on the HBB set they elevated it lol.
In retrospect, I should do what I did for Supermix 4 and EM10, find tips that get closer to SIMGOT's measurements. I am just not sure with 3 sets it will get close enough. For the most part, EW300 graphs are going to be unreliable compared to the tuning intention which is what you see on their graph. I have yet to watch HBB's EW300 video, but I should.
Great review Paul. I’ve been waiting for your take on these sets. I have plenty of good to great dac/amps, so the standard version for me. I’d rather use my FiiO Q15 and my trusty ifI Gryphon that you helped me get some barely out of warranty repair work done on. Thank you so much for the suppot help and all you do for the audio community. I have a n Aune AR5000 headphones set coming later today….Resolve really liked them and he can definitely be a picky old bastard like me. He liked them so well he said he was buying a set. 😊
How do you like the ar5000? A bit boring ? I recommend their 4.4 copper cable, I’m not really a cable believer but it did seem like it helped the dynamics a bit. At least for a portable source.
@@Hijynx87 Really digging them. I have that same cable coming today for them. They are not boring to me at all. I use a FiiO Q15 and an ifI Gryphon as my sources. I am a lover of mids, so the AR5000 is a great complement to my HD490 Pro set.
Excellent review. I've got the ea500lm. I don't find them bright (across all genres). There seems to have been a change in tuning at some point. I use the brass nozzles (silver is brighter) and skin fits that give more depth. But we all have different hearing and preferences. I've ordered the ew300 dsp as I wanted a usb c set with mic so I'll see how it compares!
@@PaulWasabiiEven with low volume, it's still way too intense in the treble for me. Bass is the highlight but the really bright treble just kills the mood for me.
Keeping it real as always 💯 I add tiny bits of LdF to almost all my sets now. It improves the sound in a way that's hard to pin point, it's like it polishes the sound without changing it. I'd say it's placebo except for I will put foam in one and blind test and I always pick the foam. 🤔
The differences look too small to matter. I too am surprised the HBB doesn't have more bass. The EW200 is half the price, and only a bit brighter than the EW300. I tend to think the Que looks more interesting to me. I tape modded both the EA500 and the EA500LM.
Hey paul, I'm midbass loving person will ew300xhbb satisfy greatly in that area..? or do u hav any other iem in suggestions under 100usd which satisfy mid bass frequency with same technical details like ew300 or Ea500lm.
EW300 is right there for that. The problem with EA500LM is as I said, it is bright. That detracts from the bass presence. I also mentioned the SIVGA Que, that is even heavier. If you never heard the original BLON BL03 and can get it cheap, try that one
Question: if you buy the DSP version but change the cable with something without dsp, will the iem still work ? I assume yes, if so, will they sound like the hbb version or something totaly diferent ? (Keep in mind that HBB said in his video that the dsp version are basicaly his colab version but better)
He is basically right. The DSP version is like the bonus version, you can use it with the DSP cable or with a regular cable. The sound has a slight difference that you probably won't notice unless you are plugging the analog cable into a dongle that has a more colored sound.
Are these good for gaming? I'm a competitive FPS player and I'm looking for a new iem to use for both gaming & music. I currently have a Truthear x Crin Zero OG and I love it, my only complain is the huge nozzle, so I have to take many breaks otherwise my ears burn
Yes they are more comfortable than the Zeros. Generally people seem to prefer less bass for gaming so that would be my only concern. People gravitate to 7hz Zero or Moondrop Chu. You listen to music also so EW300 is better for that.
@@PaulWasabii Thanks, I appreciate it! I also noticed on their website that the EW300 with the gold nozzle and purple ring is 'specifically designed for gamers, tailored for gaming scenarios,' so we'll see haha. Incredible video, by the way! I've been lurking here for a while, and your videos are always amazing. Keep it up!
I have the EM6L and SM4, for gaming purposes, wonder if the EW300 sounds better and which to choose... I get that the DSP model sounds great but I won't ever use a USB cable as I use a dac/amp... any recommendations ? A USB-C to 3.5mm adapter would do the job ? Would the DSP cable work that way ?
It’s very similar to sm4 (on my btr7 4.4 which is 2.8ohms) a bit richer in the mids and a kiss more midbass. Both sound fantastic, but ew300 is more musical
IMO, you have it covered with those two. EW300 slots in almost between them, the bass is closer to EM6l than SM4. If you are looking for 3 similar flavor, it works. You can buy the DSP version and not use the cable, it will be fine on a normal IEM 2pin cable. Or just buy the regular EW300.
Hey paul, is the ew300 hbb sounds like regular planar iems (planar timbre)? Or is it sound like natural timbre? Im allergic to that mettalic sound from planars. i prefer only natural sounding iems
I was expecting HBB version to sound more relaxed as he normally does in tuning but not the HBB version. I'd stick with DSP or regular. I don't notice it like the previous comment, but I think if you are sensitive to planar or piezo, not sure it is a good match for you. I say that as I have friends who said somewhere in the 10k-ish area sounds over emphasized. Not sure I agree, but I think if you are sensitive, might be a wait for more impressions or buy with an easy return option.
If I found the hidizs mp145 a bit too harsh in the treble, and a bit shouty, which ew300 version would suit me? I used the rose gold filter and foam tips, but could still notice it, though it was more manageable because of the foam tips. I also listen and like bassy music.
When they get compressed, they can sometimes tear on the threads. They are essential for sealing the nozzle. So on the off chance one breaks, tears, falls off, gets lost, or otherwise "fails", you have replacements. And I'm all for it.
@bigbuckoramma not entirely. On my lm, I had trouble getting a seal even with the replacements. You really got to be careful when replacing the nozzles in the first place.
I don't know why they included so many. I know in the past, SIMGOT told me they are very picky on perfect seals so when people were using EA500 nozzles on other sets, that was not something they recommended as it wasn't perfect.
I am a planar boy, S12 Pro. Supermix 4 is technically better than EW300, but I will still take the tuning of EW300 as it is more generally appealing. Supermix 4 is very Harman which if you are familiar with it.
The main obvious difference is the bass level, EW300 has more. Zero:Red has an adapter that adds more bass. In that respect, Zero:red might be a better starting point but both are nice sets.
Unless you want a metal shell or something really annoys you on Rhapsody, too close to a sidegrade. They will not sound the same but its closer to buying a different flavor than a big upgrade. Rhapsody is very capable for its price.
Please Help me to describe the sound of the ziigaat nuo, Some people on reddit say that they didn't liked the ziigaat nuo and that it had a flat soundstage (whatever that means) it sounded as if it was mono. That's what they said but you said it's fun and energetic sounding so please describe, does it really has a flat soundstage with mono like sound to it.
Eh, the hobby is subjective and when a set like Nuo adds a boost in the upper treble, it either sounds energetic as there is more energy to instruments and harmonics, but that can also tilt balance and flatten stage. The mono part, not sure.
Mono probably because someone had mono set on their phone for a podcast and never turned it off. I see this post a million times I’m starting to think Reddit is just full of ai posts.
Just to get this correct, is the dsp version and the hbb version the same iem soundwise? So if I smack a 4.4 on to the iems that comes with the dsp version, it will sound the same as hbb version with 4.4?
Hello is the dsp usb c cable better as my moondrop may cable or is the cable soundwise the same or is the dsp separate system and not together in the usb plug a better way to go?😊
I have not, but I am assuming there is a small change as there appears to be a change with EW300 vs an analog cable. I am not sure that is intentional though, but it might be. Again, these are small changes, not like the Dusk dsp cable
Eh, you are asking the wrong person on Phoenixcall, I didn't like it. And never heard T10. Planars tend to sound similarly bright so if that is your preference, go T10. Otherwise EW300 is a safer choice
