Chechen is a Northeast Caucasian language native to the North Caucasus, specifically Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan. It is primarily spoken in the Chechen Republic where, along with the Republic of Dagestan, it holds official status. Despite belonging to different language family groups, Chechen and Arabic share a lot of common words. While the majority of the Chechen vocabulary comes from the Nakh branch of the Northeast Caucasian language family, it contains many words derived from Arabic, aside from the terms which are related to religion.
In this video, we compare some of the common words between Chechen (нохчийн мотт) and Arabic (العربية) with Elmira, a Chechen speaker from Chechnya, and Diana, an Arabic speaker from Syria.
If you are interested in being part of future videos or if you have any feedback, please follow and message me on Instagram: / bahadoralast
Arabic is a Central Semitic language and has official/national status Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, SADR, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania (Zanzibar), Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
Chechens, historically also known as Kisti and Durdzuks, who refer to themselves as Nokhchiy are among the Nakh people native to the North Caucasus. They have a very interesting history going back to antiquity. Despite being predominantly Muslim today, even until the 19th century Chechens' own religion was still widely practiced in the region. Over the course of centuries, the Chechen people have interacted with numerous different groups, which has impacted their culture and language. Languages which are closely related to Chechen include Ingush (spoken in Ingushetia), and Batsbi (spoken in Georgia), both of which are Nakh languages. They are, to a lesser extent, related to the Nakho-Dagestanian family, including the languages of the Avars, Dargins, Lezghins, and Laks.
Despite having around 2 million native speakers, Chechen has numerous different dialects, such as Ehki, Chantish, Chebarloish, Malkhish, Nokhchmakhkakhoish, Orstkhoish, Sharoish, Shuotoish, Terloish, Itum-Qalish and Himoish. Many different scripts have been used in order to write the Chechen language, with the Arabic script becoming popular as the majority of the Chechens became Muslim. The Arabic script continued to be used into the 20th century until the Latin script was introduced. The Cyrillic script was adopted in 1938 and is still being used today.

Happy to feature the Chechen language for the first time. As a Chechen I am very happy to read the comments. Many people from Arabic countries, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and all other Muslim countries are writing good wishings and greetings to Chechens. Thank you very much for that, we wish you all the same. Unfortunately the majority of Chechens don't speak English and because of that only a few see your comments. Chechens in these comments are mostly the ones who grew up in Europe.

As a Chechen, I have to say Chechen language is unreasonable to show similarity with Arabic. In addition, even Turkish is highly influenced by Arabic and it has taken a lot of words. This does not mean that the two languages have similarities. This means that the language is influenced. If you are looking for a similarity in other form, it would be with the Turks. Because Chechens call themselves "Noxchi" comes from "Nakh" word. This means the household of Noah. In other words, Chechens are Noah's son and Turks are Noah's grandson. That's how close they are to each other. I may have made mistakes in small parts, but I believe someone is hiding this information specifically. Turks and Chechens are certainly very close genetically, if not linguistically. There is nothing else explainable about the love and sempathy of the two sides for each other. Much love from Turkey!

Would love to see more videos comparing Chechen to other Caucasian languages! Кстати, Эдмира, у тебя такой хороший английский! Я никогда раньше не слышал, чтобы чеченцы говорили по-английски, так что мне было приятно это слышать!))

I am Somali and I picked up the Chechen words before the Syrian girl did. We have almost all those words in Somali but different sound, for example Eskar in SOmali it is Askari. Asa = stick in Somali it is 'asayad'. Sheko = Doubt = Shaki in Somali. Qal'a = Castle = Qalcad in Somali... Kis = Pouch = Somali Kiish... suar = photos = sawir in Somali.

this Chechen girl is lying because more than half of the words she uttered are not even Chechen, but some kind of Turkish, I understand this, because I am also a Chechen. she said that escar - troops, hulk -people, etc. although there are no such words in the Chechen language. temloy - troops, nah-people in Chechen, etc.

Why in Chechen F (PH) changed to P? in Arabic and Farsi/Tajik all we pronounce it F. Not Patima, but Fatima. Is it influenced by turk languages? Example, uzbeks also have a lot of arabic/farsi/tajik words, and mainly they changed F to P.
