Simon giving Matty O the shout out in the video is really lovely considering a few days later Matt would go on to win the MVP Open. Great recognizing great.
Simon is probably the only sport athlete I know today that just exudes, hey I play a sport I love, Im having fun, and hope you are enjoying the show. Its easy to see why he and Matty O are heads and shoulders above most of the others.
One idea I have about filming an event, or at least presenting them, is to have a mini overhead view of the hole on the side of the screen and have the disc represented by a small dot on the mini-map as it flies. Really help give a visualization of what's going on and be able to see where players land in relation to eachother.
The question was ... "Who throws the most creative lines on tour right now (other than Simon)?" How did Simon not say Eagle?!? That was the first name that came to my mind ... actually the only name that came to mind. Eagle picks lines and throws during tourneys attempted by no one else almost as much as Simon.
Love simons takes. He was my top favorite for years, still always root for him i just love matty O and Conrad so its hard to decide! Also id absolutely love to have some simon lizotte brewery and some double G jerky
Hi Simon, I work at a top 100 brewery in the World, Amager Bryghus, Avery was there 2 times. Im a disc golfer, and if your opening a brewery I´m interrested !!! keep beeing you , chears
Some proofreading of your subtitles before uploading wouldn't go astray. In my view, what's currently hurting disc golf is DGN's diabolically blocky 480p20 coverage cynically being sold as 1080p60. I think the future will not be kind to DGN.
For real, you have this disingenuous “grow the sport” from the manufacturers, when they really mean “grow our profit margins” lol. The courses around me are improving drastically, but it’s because of volunteers and tax dollars, not the disc companies…..
Like #383 You're one of my favs Simon. I agree there has to be a better way to film disc golf to bring it to a wider audience. Hopefully someday that can get figured out. Glad to see bigger sponsors coming to the sport every year like Barbasol. Maybe someday Simon will get paid like Tiger!
Hey same mindset! My name is Simon n im.a crush boy thru n Thursday! Simon my man! Love u bro! The mvp fact is 30min from my town n lots of fun course around! Love u Simon n really doesn't matter what ur throwing! U could show up to workds n decide to throw a specialized garbage can lid and guarantee ur taking the podium!! Love u simon and the lizotte family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🎉
I would love to see an 18 hole, stadium course. Where every hole can be packed with spectators like hole 16 at the Phoenix open in ball golf. Even if every hole is a part 3.
Bad idea to standardize baskets or teepads. In fact, there should be variety of different kinds of targets in the game. Then a valid target could be e.g. a hole in a wall or something really creative. No need to limit anyone's creativity. And teepads... the same thing. Some teepads could engourage throwing stationary or they could be uneven just to make things more difficult. Standardization would limit the possibility of different teeing places. Like, e.g., trees or structures. Also the surface can't be standardized so that it works in every environment. But what comes to the current rectangle like teepad... it's not optimal. It's never aligned correctly, especially for lefties. A round teepad, or a triangle with cut tip, would be better.
HA, I keep telling people if I win the lottery that I'm buying land to put my house on and build a disc golf course in the backyard. My plan was to invite Nate Sexton to help design it though (sorry, not sorry).
Player throwing the most Unique Lines = Scott Stokley I find him to be one of the absolute most entertaining players to watch because almost every single hole he's approaching differently to the rest of the field. (Caveat - he wasn't really "on tour" this year in the states, but in europe) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_vhvO1dD94M.html Watch his Pro Forester rounds from this year against McBeth
There's something kind of Great about the full flavor of an IPA to me. Maybe it's just my pallet, but the mild fruitiness, the malty flavor, the nice bitter notes that accent the uniqueness of a good hop makes drinking an IPA way better to me than just a simple lager. Call me insane, but understand that compared to your lager, a unique IPA made by a local brewery is far more enjoyable.
I hope this guys dreams of course ownership come true soon. That sounds so incredible having a course and microbrewery both heavily influenced by simon. I’d fly out!
In Simon's case DD3, but of course DD3 "is" Destroyer. In that logic all overstable midranges are Buzzz OS and all overstable approach discs are Zones and all overstable putters are Pigs and all straight fairways are Eagle and so on. So you probably bag a lot of Innova discs with some Discraft discs like everyone else. Of course manufacturers make type of discs that are popular and what their team players need and want. I just don't understand why MVP didn't do this before unless they had a plan this will be used as leverage to get elite level pro to the team. It would be dumb not to make destroyers, eagles, zones, buzzz's, buzzz OS's etc.
you guys are putting out some great content lately!!! this is a great chat. i almost said interview but this was definitely not an interview. keep up the great content!!
I agree about media coverage. I think new courses need to be designed to accommodate galleries and have multiple camera locations on each hole. For so long we (disc golfers and disc golf clubs) were happy to get any land donated to build a course. Time has come to be more selective in where and how we build a course that will be considered for use on the Tour.
I am 59 years old, and pretty new to disc golf. Where has this been all my life? And Simon Lizotte is possibly my favorite pro athlete of all time. He is entertaining because he is so authentic. Simon is unique.
Won't be long till disc golf becomes an arena event with mechanically adjustable courses to accomodate the widest crowd possible. Shotgun format, fancy halftime shows, billions of oil money from Saudi Arabia.
The Disc Golf World and Simon Lizotte: Here's something else disc golf needs. I invented and tested a device, the "disc whip", for flinging golf discs and flying rings farther than we can throw them. I made a 70 min video about it, giving it an epic, corny, fictitious back story plot. It's on RU-vid in 6 parts, beginning with, "Disc Whip Invented By Paul Marostica Part 1". If you like it, maybe you could give it a mention.
Someday I'd like to ask a pro--"in the long run, does the 'par number' actually matter? The only number that matters is the final score(unless you are that insecure about the number of boogies/birdies/pars/other that you card)???
After the last MVP open I think we need a change to how the crowds are handled, especially on lead card. It was a free for all on Sunday, and NOT for lack of trying by the tournament staff. They did the best they could, but people were running up and down fairways, standing on the edge of circle one with people throwing into the green. I know Simon had to ask a dude to stop moving at one point. Felt so bad for all the players on lead card who had to deal with it. They all played fairly bad after hole 1 and I wonder if it was tilting seeing all the people scrambling through the woods everywhere.
Just gonna say there is 77acres up here in North Georgia that may get flipped from a wooded agriculture zones property to a high density subdivision that would lay out well for a new course. 15/20 minutes from 3 different courses.
A Simon Lizotte Disc Golf course with a Micro Brew as a destination for vacation would be the best thing ever. Build some places to stay and do a "Stay & Play" package and he'll make up the building cost in no time. Simon's still has so much untapped potential in marketing. Great interview!
I think the only time to run up on a throw is the drive from the tee pad. Every throw thereafter should be a stand still from your lie. This would eliminate foot faults and it's just like regular golf where you get to use a tee on the tee pad, hence the name.
I think people have the know how to make the filming and prodcasting of disc golf better but do not want to spend the amount of money it would take to do it .
