Thanks for sharing this. It's refreshing to see an honest business owner who is willing to share some tricks of the trade and save the working man a couple of bucks. Appreciate it!
Just wanted to Thank You for a Previous Video. My Primer Bulb wasn’t working and Sure Enough the End that connects to the Carb was Broken Off. Thank You Sir! I Appreciate Your Vids!
I got a hand me down 5hp Simplicity blower in `97 when my folks moved to a condo. That machine has been a trooper. Still works like a champ. My driveway is 100ft by 11ft and I`m 20mi west of Milwaukee,Wi.
Great channel!I purchased a used Murray 27" Ultra today, and your videos have allready been a big help to solve some problems.I had been looking for a while for a snowthrower "Made in USA",cause i don't want Chinese junk, and Hondas are too expensive.
And this video is what just fixed my old tecumseh noma gran Prix. It could barely shoot snow further than 2 feet but I did both these adjustments and now it’s throwing so much more accordingly. Thank you so much for uploading this
I'll have to see if the belt tension is the issue I'm having, even though it seemed not to be slipping from what I could tell. The auger was able to bog down the engine when I went into a heavy snow back, which I took to mean it was tight enough. I checked the no load speed of the engine to be 3600 rpm and the auger at 120, impeller at 1200 rom, which is what the specs indicate they should be.
@@donyboy73 I tested the belt by wedging the impeller with a block of wood, and pulling the starter cord, while the auger was engaged. I was able to get the belt to slip, so that may very well be the cause of the impotent throw. The belt looks like it's pretty old, with the rubber not being very grippy on the drive pulley, where it's slipping. Might try some belt dressing as a bandaid in the meantime. I was looking to see where to get a replacement belt, which seems to be spec'd at a 35" circumference, but couldn't find one at the auto parts or home Depot stores. Where's a good source for a belt to try out and see if this is the issue?
Ordered a 35" x 1/2" belt off eBay, but the belt they sent was actually 34" from my measurement of the outer circumference. Cost for USPS shipping to return it was more than half the total, so I just bought another 35" x 3/8" belt from Amazon, and that one measured correctly. Tried it out in the recent blizzard, and it worked well. Decent throw and no clogging of the chute at all 👍 Belt tension was basically the issue, no impeller mod needed-
You have helped me a lot ! Thank You, Lots of people talk bad about MTD snowblowers. I have a 1995 Yardman 8/26 that I bought new and it has been great. I see you work on a lot of these machines. What do you think of them ? Thank You
Perfect timing on this! Haven't got a chance to look at it yet.. I just got the same machine in my shop with the identical problem. Thanks for the help!
I already made the idler pulley adjustment to tighten the belt, thanks to one of your older videos. It worked great blowing the very dry, powdery snow on New Year's Day. A new snowstorm just began here so tomorrow morning I'll find out how well the blower can handle a wetter snow.
Donyboy73 is the best! Thanks for sharing these money saving tips. Any future videos on Toro snowblowers? Some complicated maintenance on those awesome snowblowers…👍
Thank you so much for posting these videos, they are very informative. You do a great job of explaining and showing how things work. I replaced my auger drive belt last week on my old 10hp Noma/Murray Blower and noticed that even with the correct size belt on it, the idler pulley had to be adjusted to the max tightness to really catch. After watching this video, I suspect that the auger engagement cable might need some tightening to mitigate this and now know how to do that. Will try it, while still making sure auger stops when lever is released.
Great ideas! I check my belts annually. That's how I discovered a bad main auger bearing. What seemed like a little play turned out to be a completely falling apart bearing.
Great video thanks..also I have an older Craftsman and wet snow would stick between the chassis and impeller clogging the shoot..easy fix was to cut/attach pieces of heavy duty mud flap like from a tractor trailer and attach to the 3 impeller blades having the edges just touch the chassis. Now the thing throws any kind of snow a lot farther.
I have a question for you. The ground plug on the electric starter of the snowblower for our community hockey rink has broken off. Does it have to be repaired. It’s a newer snowblower and the starter itself is perfectly fine. Thanks !!!!! You’ve helped me out so many times. You are my go to guy!!!
Hi there. Your videos are extremely helpful. Encountering the following problem and wondering if you could help. Recently replaced fuel line and carburator on a Craftsman snowblower due to leaking fuel. However, now it appears that the fuel is lightly spitting out the top of it near spark plug. When turned off the fuel tank empties completely. Wondering what else could be problem.
Hey Dony, could you do a quick video explaining how to adjust the skid shoes? What difference does it make to have them adjusted slightly forward or slightly back for weight transfer? What is best for going up/down inclines? Thanks!
Thank you, I’m gonna try that, I have the same snowblower and it bogs down in heavy snow......can you tell me how to tighten the chute? Mine swings left and right, very loose, thanks for any help you can provide for this issue 😊
Don I have a 2000 622 toro Drum style the drive belt must have been changed looks new. And the Aguer belt looks new as well on the Aguer v belt style is seems to have three points of identical slits on the belt. Is this the way it should be. Or is this not correct. I look on line for new but it’s hard to see the underlying part of the belt. Thank you for all your help.
Ever have an issue with the TYPE of belt used? I had a V belt made up at a local place which was the exact size as the previous one and it kept falling off the pulley. I took it back and had a cogged V belt made up because a buddy say they grip small pulleys better, and it works perfectly and doesn't fall off. Pulley is smooth and doesn't have any teeth though. It's fixed now just wondering if you had situations like that
Also helps to keep the 2 stage impeller and chute area paint in good condition with automotive wax ..it makes it more slippery on metal..its what i do on my 11hp 28 inch 2 stage johndeere👍🏻
My Garden Way era Troy Bilt 42000 snow thrower threw a pitiful three feet or so, and I figured it wasn't loose belts because it was able to bog down the engine when I hit the heavy piles of snow. I was thinking it was just the way they were designed back then, with large clearances at the impeller. The blades look pretty much as new, so I was considering doing the impeller mod of adding a rubber flap to take up some of the gap. Just don't know if it's worth trying because the gap really widens once the blade goes past horizontal. I thought it would have followed the curve for a bit more of the arc, but I don't know if that's how the modem snow throwers are designed. In my case adding the rubber flap may have only limited benefit as a result of the chute not following the arc of the blade right after horizontal.
Thanks for the tip, do you have a tip for me? I have a 40 year old Jacobsen snow blower and the chute won't stay in place. It turns by itself when I'm removing snow. I guess the Tecumseh engine vibrates so much that the chute wobbles. Put some grease on it instead of WD40?
Check/tighten the chutes mounting. Next would be to check the crank handle that turns your chute. The handle might have gotten bent, not letting the end contacting the chute to connect properly and letting the chute free float. Might just need to be tightened up or bent back to a correct angle
Hi Dony I have a 3 stage club cadet 30” blower. I’m having trouble with the shear pins breaking on the input impellers - the ones aiming straight to the front of the machine. Is there a solution to this problem? Thank you so much.
Try after market shear pins, a lot of guys are complaining about the shear pins breaking on the 3x and that seems to be the solution. A few people have mentioned that cub cadet came out with updated pins for that machine but I couldn't verify it. Good luck 👍
