Simple adult coloring tutorial | Two ways to use Faber-Castell Polychromos in your coloring books

As of late, I've been favoring both my Faber-Castell Polychromos and my Mythographic coloring books. In today's video, I'll be working with both to show you two different methods you can achieve nice results with these pencils and not give yourself carpal tunnel.

Great tutorial! I do sometimes need the reminder that I don't need to put down a gazillion layers in a colouring book to get a good result. Thanks for sharing your process

Hi Queen...great video, thank you! I just (today) pulled out my Polys to finish swatching them as a break from the Kerby picture, so the timing on this was perfect for me! These are both gorgeous blends, thank you for listing the colors in the notes. I find the dark-to-light more visually appealing - I think that's what Ryan does mostly and one of the reasons I like his art so much. As always, I learn so much from watching your techniques - the commentary is so helpful too!

Thanks so much for the watch! I’m glad you found it useful. I tend to switch back and forth based on what I’m coloring, especially with these pencils. If I’m coloring something that doesn’t have a lot of texture, the light base and build up is more workable. If you come in too hot with the darks using oil based pencils, it can be real rough to smooth edges out. It’s much easier to work dark to light with Prismas. But…flip side, if I’m coloring something like tree branches where I want a lot of those details to be in the final result, it does work better putting your darks in first. Really just all about your vision for the final piece.
