The box-style speed reducer is a simple bolt-on install for my Juki LU-563 that requires no modification to the table slot or frame. I obtained the reducer from Toledo Sewing (no affiliation).

Thank you for sharing this reducer, I bought a box style reducer from Toledo sewing and now have it installed. the belts I found at Napa auto parts, the other local parts stores couldn't find them. My consewP1206 was running way too fast for my leather projects and this cured that. I sewed through a couple pieces of veg tan belt thickness with no problem. thanks again

Just added that box reducer to Juki 562,,really a well made product,,need to get 31 inch belt before the smoke test!

Nice! With my very small pulley going to the machine, I did need to tighten that belt quite a bit. Someone was thinking when they designed this simple and very effective reducer!

I did have to put the smaller pulley on outside to make it work on my setup!!!
@weekenddistractions

I think that is better since you can take the belt to the machine off without having to take the other one off. I couldn't make it work that way--maybe I didn't try hard enough!

So I got mine installed and yes there is allot of low rumbling noise and vibration with the reducer installed. I did reuse the rubber vibration isolators that originally came with my machine and put them between the motor and speed reducer. With the excessive noise and vibration now i’m wondering if I should have put the isolators between the speed reducer and the table i instead. Anyone got any ideas where the noise comes from and a solution please reply back to me. How is it possible for the speed reducer to make thar much vibration and noise. Seems like it shouldn’t yet it does. If i decide to go through the trouble to put the isolators between the speed reducer and table and I notice a reduction in noise and vibration I will post back advising thar isolators are needed and they need to be between speed reducer snd table.

Look forward to your results. My rumble is there, but it isn't too loud, but it would be nice if it was whisper quiet. Isolators are a good idea.

@@weekenddistractionsso i unmounted everything and reinstalled but this time with the rubber isolators between the table and the speed reducer. It helped tamp down on the noise a bit but i still can hear and feel a low rumble. The noise in my opinion almost makes my machine feel like an old car or some kind of army tank. The feel over all of the low rumbling vibrations of table makes seem like my machine heavy and clunkier rather than nimble and quick if you know what I mean. Sewing is a chore with that feeling. When i had everything apart i turned the speed reducer pulley by hand it didn’t seem to me like it made any noise by itself. The motor being turned by hand also didn’t seem to make noise. I have come to the conclusion then when everything is put together and the belts are tightened the entire assembly seems to vibrate in unison and it all gets transferred to the table. I did notice when i tightened the belts much tighter the sound dissipated a bit. My motor has a really badly designed hinge where there is slack in pin holding the hinge. That is possibly not helping as the motor pulley needs to be tightened extra hard to make the motor stop vibrating and transferring vibration up through the speed reducer and on to the table. So in conclusion rubber isolators between table and speed reducer helped a bit but not much. I think instead what I’m gonna end up doing if i cant get used to this setup is just removing the speed reducer and putting a smaller pulley on the motor instead to slow down my machine. That would help slow it a bit down but it would not be ideal in terms of torque on thicker materials. Oh well I really don’t know why it’s so hard to make sewing machine motors that go slow and have allot of torque.

With the added reducer box are you still able use the hand wheel without too much extra torque required?

It's a little harder as you say, but still quite useable.

Thanks for showing this video and pointing out this important issue regarding the lowest speed of the sewing machine. I have got the same experience as you, and like to be able to control the sewing machine better at low speed. You got a motor with lowest speed of 200 RPM. However, the lowest speed specification for these motors can quite difficult to find in specifications from the sellers of these servo motors. I know that many of them got a lowest speed of 100 RPM and others 500 RPM. I have seen a very expensive machine with lowest speed at 10 RPM (EFKA motor). Improvement are still possible on most sewing machine by improving the ergonomics of the pedal the controls the speed. I plan to do a video on this issue. I have made a small playlist of videos regarding speed control: ru-vid.com/group/PLhBGyDo4tov8XSL24b3eiAsGBhlPJA2SF

Thanks for commenting and watching! I would be nice to just have a servo motor capable of very slow speeds without the need for a reducer, but this solution is pretty nice. I'll take a peek at your playlist!
