This video shows how to add a simple cnc spoilboard to a Onefinity CNC router. I do not teach how to create a file, just how to use a file to create a spoilboard. If you are a beginner than this is the video you are looking for to help you start carving right away. I do have plans available for purchase on ETSY at a very inexpensive price.
****The plans require VCarve Pro or Apsire v11.016 or higher. You can use them with the desktop version but you will need to tile the project because of the software's limited cut area.

Really helpful video, perfect teaching. Not too fast for a beginner and not so dumbed down as to be boring. Easy to follow. A couple of things, just starting and have ordered a new Onefinity machine. No one covers the process of computer to CNC. I am familiar with CNC software for embroidery machines, so I expect to pick up woodworking CNC pretty quick, but it has been my experience that the simple steps are the ones that cause me the most problems. The other thing, how do I determine the location for interior hold down screws? So they don't interfere with the holes for the insert holes. And, are they necessary to keep the spoil board flat?
@twoelmbuilds
@twoelmbuilds Год назад
Thanks for watching! For the hold down screws in the middle, I just measured them out and put them where I knew there was no brass insert. I would add them before flattening your spoilboard. I think it is important to have them because you may accidently put a screw too deep into the brass inserts one time and it may want to try and lift the spoilboard. Those holddown screws help keep it secured down. If you are worried about hitting them, you could always take them out before you drill the insert holes and put them back in afterward. As far as connecting your computer, I connect through my wireless network. If you don't have a wireless network in your shop, you can connect a computer to the controller box using an ethernet cable, but I havent done that before so I am not the expert to ask for details. I am sure a quick search on the Onefinity Forums will have more details on the process. Hope that helps 👍

@@twoelmbuilds I'll be doing a ton with it aside from projects to sell. Boxes, arcade style control panels, some jigs for the workshop, things like drawer pulls, shelf brackets, trays, coasters, signs, resin inlays, acrylic etching with a drag bit, etc. Man, there's so many things we can do with a CNC! At first it'll be mostly a mix of practice and some small runs of projects to recoup some of the costs.

Nice video. Suggestion, put the inserts in from the back side less likely to pull out. I know it’s an extra step but a little more secure.
@twoelmbuilds
@twoelmbuilds Год назад
That is a good suggestion and I did that with my first ever spoilboard. I ended up switching to the brass inserts because I am a simple man. 😂 But really, when I made my second spoilboard I had a hard time reusing some of the T-nuts and getting them out was a pain. These are easy to reuse. The other reason I use them is that they will pull out if you accidentally overtighten a bolt, instead of raise up your nice flat spoilboard. Two different takes and both will work. Good suggestion! I think Ben Meyers at Meyers Woodshop has plans with that setup if anyone is interested in this kind of insert. Thanks for the suggestion!

Great job on this video! Very nice of you to make these plans so affordable too ! I just finally built my table and set up my onefinity. I do plan on using 4 t-tracks for hold downs. My question is can I buy these plans and just use the flattening and grid portion of these plans and just not do the holes?
@twoelmbuilds
@twoelmbuilds 2 года назад
Thanks! yes, you sure can use just the flattening and grid tool paths. They are all separate tool paths so you can use whatever ones work best for what you want to make!

Nice video. Thanks for taking the time and effort to help us “out” here. Question. You mentioned that your friend suggested that you increase the thread hole size. That would take less effort to drive in the brass threaded inserts. That’s a good idea. If the hole is too tight you’ll have “bulge” pushing somewhere in that specific area of board structure. Does that change your flattened surface? Also… is there any issue when driving the inserts in having your previous “flattened” spoil board heave up when you bottom out the insert screw against the surface structure below?? Those small impact screw guns have some impressive torque values. Just thoughts about reaction of wood vs metal pressures. Again, thanks for the education. Best. Wiredodger60
@twoelmbuilds
@twoelmbuilds Год назад
I suppose you could have it bulge up if you tighten the insert down too far in the mdf. You can even mess thing up if you drive your hold down screws too far. I wouldn't be to worried about having issues if you just know it can happen and use some caution. At least MDF is easy to sand flush if you mess something up 😂 🤣

I have the same joypad, and think I've tried all of the buttons, but don't seem to have any control of the cursor, just the movement of the machine. How are you controlling your cursor if not with your finger? Thanks!

Isn't it better to install your brass inserts (t-nuts) on the underside of your spoilboard?
@twoelmbuilds
@twoelmbuilds 6 месяцев назад
You can build a spoilboard like that and it works well. I prefer to use inserts because they are easier to re-use (in my opinion) and they pull out if you accidentally tighten too hard, I stead of raise up your spoilboard from underneath, thus making your project not flat. Just two differing styles with their own pluses and minuses. Thanks for the insight and watching 👍

Hi, Is there any way to convert the Vcarve files to Carvco files which came with my Journeyman CNC? It seems that the carve files cannot be imported into my Masso controller. Thanks, Sam
@twoelmbuilds
@twoelmbuilds 11 месяцев назад

@samsske
@samsske 11 месяцев назад
So, sounds like I need to purchase Vcarve to make these files work with my machine. Oh wait, jus had a thought… how about importing them into Easel and then exporting them to a fils format that the Masso controller can read? Thanks again!
@twoelmbuilds
@twoelmbuilds 11 месяцев назад
The Masso controller needs gcode to control. Vcarve, easel, carvco are all cad/cam software that produces gcode to send to your Masso. Each software runs it's own forms of cad/cam that do not communicate with each other. The only way to open a carvco file is with carvco. Same with Vectric files, they need vectric software. You will need to create your own carvco file to generate gcode for your Masso. I would stear you towards someone who teaches carvco, but I really don't know anyone.
