I never thought of splitting them like that. Definitely makes it easier to cook. Getting the chock out that way is much easier than taking it out after parboiling. Thanks for all the tips.
OMG! LITERALLY I'm here watching this next to my 5yr old tryna put her to sleep and I see your comment and then I hear zzzzzzz. Kevs voice put my kid to sleep. Lol. Thanks kev!
I made these tonight. The choke came out just as easily as the video! And the taste was insanely good. I was always intimidated by cooking artichokes but this process made it easy. I whipped up some garlic aïoli sauce to serve with the artichokes and it was amazballs. I highly recommend this recipe!
That looks awesome. My grandma would also put bread crumbs in the leaves and bake them. They were always delicious. That’s an awesome way to take out the bad part of the heart I’ll have to remember that
I’ve gotten so bored with most cooking RU-vid spots that as soon as they start I flicked them away the two of yours that I’ve noticed or so interesting I watched them all the way to the end very good thank you, blessings
Some for me, but not everyone does. I'm portuguese, not italian. The heart we call it feno ( hay). It's a regional dish of southern Portugal ( Alentejo, moistly). Boiled and served with homemade olive oil. Yam!
Thank you brother man for this video. I've never cooked or had them cooked for me... now that you thought me I will pass it on . You make RU-vid a great place ...don't stop the positive vibe with good food love for the souls
We used the whole thing growing up. We'd dip each little end in butter and eat until we'd reach the center. I'd pull it out, soak it in butter, and then eat it. It was always a little treat my mom would make sometimes
We used to make them different when I was a kid. We’d boil them whole and peel off each leaf and dip the good part into either butter or lemon juice and eat it like that. Once we got to the hairy bits we’d scrape it out with a spoon. My favorite part was always the stems.
Yeah same, except it's was mayo and lemon juice, still eat like that, tho I sometimes peel the hairy bits with my hands, just gotta hold em right and pull, they come right off, and when they don't then it's time to surrender and grab a spoon
This looks awesome. I always enjoy your videos, I often learn new tips like this one. I never really cook artichokes so seeing preparations of them helps me expand my repertoire. Thank you!
Normally I don't terribly care for this guy's methods or recipes, but this is absolutely ingenious! It's looks so much easier than trying to get the choke out of one that's uncooked! Absolutely going to try this
I love artichokes so much, but they take so long to cook 😢. You made that look so easy and delicious, and I love them with mayonnaise also. Thanks for the great recipe 👏
I’ve been eating artichokes since I was a little kid. They’re one of my favorite foods. Try mixing some fresh squeezed lemon juice with your mayo for dipping. So good!
Ran across this video and your comment while flipping through shorts. I love artichokes since I was a kid as well. Have you boiled them with adding apple cider vinegar? If you prefer a bit of pickling flavor it's really yummy. 😋
@@beccam8539 I’ve never tried adding apple cider vinegar but it sounds really good and I have some in my pantry. Definitely trying this the next time I have artichokes. Thank you!
Add extra virgin olive oil to the boil and you've basically got my recipe. Sometimes I'll add other herbs when the mood hits. Need to try grilling them after though, that's a great idea. Oh, and the artichoke broth makes for a fantastic soup base btw.
Hi!! Love your videos and am learning a lot!! Do you happen to know how to make flaky salt?? I've seen videos but, it doesn't turn out. Thought you might have some tips. I love your new food cart!!
I recently started making mine with an Instant Pot. Cup of water in the instant pot, put in some garlic salt, lemon pepper, and a bay leaf per artichoke. 18 minutes on high pressure. For dipping, I use melted butter with garlic salt, lemon pepper and mayonnaise. Freaking delicious.
@@monet7267 nope, lol. I've never ate artichoke my entire life. Only heard of it a few times, artichokes sound like they look like armadillos or a name of a pokemon
@@Kay-zy6hn oh wowww. if u ever go somewhere like applebees or somewhere that has spinach and artichoke, i definitely recommend it! some places are gross lmao but applebees has a pretty solid appetizer of it
@@monet7267 lol alright! Thanks for the recommendation. It's always nice to try new dishes. I just never seen artichokes on menus, but I've never been to Applebee's either so I'll have to check that out!
Looks delicious, I grew up eating them the Italian way, boiled and each leaf is stuffed with bread crumb stuffing and then baked in the oven to brown it up a little bit. Peel each leaf off and scrape the stuffing off with your teeth, the tender ends of the leaf you can bite right off as well. As you get deeper into the artichoke the leaves get more tender and you can eat the entire leaf…. The hearts are delicious too!
First person I’ve seen eating em with Mayo like myself. It’s really good to mix Mayo with lemon juice, cayenne pepper and fresh or garlic powder. SOOOO 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have never eaten artichoke and quite frankly I've been scared to buy when I do see it bc I have absolutely no clue how to cook it or what it taste like. But I love trying new foods so maybe its time to give artichokes a chance 😊 Thankyou for this recipe! it looks simple enough for me 🙏 💕
I love artichokes! If you want to spice up your mayonnaise a little I recommend adding a bit of soy sauce to it with salt and pepper. I promise it’s definitely worth a try!
I was so excited to see you enjoying it with mayo at the end. That's the way my mom always served them when I was a kid, but it seems like no one serves them that way anymore.
My family makes these and they're ammmmazing! We prep them the same except we leave them whole and steam them, then scoop and fill halfway with sauteed onions, then add Italian breadcrumbs the rest of the way. You scoop a little of the onions and breadcrumbs on the lead before scrapping off the meat. So delicious
