I know you've heard this enough but...Best tulle skirt tutorial on RU-vid PERIOD!!! You have under skirt coverage via the lining, fullness from the four layers, and the way you folded and cut the tulle doesn't require you to do a lot of sewing. Thumbs up and a billion thanks!
you did an AWESOME job on this tute. One of the very best Ive ever seen on sewing, clear video, great sound, wonderful descriptions! i wanted something more fuller though. But still LOVED it.
Dear MariaAntoinette, Thank you for your wonderful how to video on making a Tulle skirt. I am making my daughter's prom dress and the top is a Cheongsam blouse with a tulle skirt.....so lovely!!! I loved your skirt with the denim blouse and pink bow belt...so chic!!!
Girllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is definitely a God send. Yesterday I was on the internet looking for a really clean version of the the little girl tutus I make and I couldn't find one that was "Adult-ish" enough for the lady that I'm making it for. Although she wants it floor length like the Kellis one that is trending, this is a perfect tutorial. Thank you so much!!!! And Glad to have you back!!!
This is FABULOUS! Was in need of a skirt for my Step Daughters Birthday and this will be perfect for her to wear. plus it wont drive me mad making it! THANK YOU!
I'm so glad I saw this! I was following another blog tutorial (not video) and they said to measure the waist. OMGoodness, I would've never gotten it on over my hips. Thanks for saving me from making a huge blunder!
Maria Antoinette, I loved your video tutorial on how to make a circle tulle skirt! I made one for my daughter's prom!!!! Your skirt looked gorgeous with your denim shirt and pink belt...so stylish! Sincere Thanks for this tutorial! Betsy
Betsy Comeau Thank you so much Betsy!!! I am glad the video helped!!! I made a video doing a maxi version of this tulle skirt...the video is called DIY Prom Dress for under $50.00 I just want girls and moms to know there are options and you don't have to break the bank to get a great look for your prom!!!
Maria Antoinette, You are so right when girls can make their own prom dresses without going broke and be proud of their creations! I just have to tell you a funny story...back in 1971 I was asked to the prom the NIGHT BEFORE. My mom took me to Newberry's Five and Dime after supper for fabric and a pattern and for less than 5 dollars, I whipped up a long empire waisted dress and was done sewing by 4 and my date picked me up at 4:30!!!! I took some International students shopping yesterday for fabric and patterns and of course, tulle to make your wonderful, graceful, elegant skirt. Thank you for sharing your creativity!!! Your video has made a few young girls happy! Sincerely, Betsy
Brilliant tutorial! thank you and so easy to follow, I used it to make my youngest daughter an elasticated circle skirt first, just to see how it would turn out, it's fabulous (and I'm a novice!) measurements are spot on! thank you again! x x x
Thank you for this video tutorial. I will be helping my daughter make a tulle skirt for halloween that she will decorate. Your DIY video makes it really simple. We watched a several how to videos and yours was the easiest to follow. Great job!
Thanks so much! Me and my friend are (attempting) to make our homecoming dresses this year, and all the other tutorials are difficult to follow. Yours is simple and instructive, thanks!
Glad i found this video. Ive been looking for a tulle skirt online and the prices are so high. Will do this tomorrow! thank you so much! this is very helpful! :)
Perfect and easy to use God willing!! Great timing for me to find your tutorial as a client is putting in an order for this type of skirt along with other regular strip tutus so this helps a ton. :) Thank you!
YOUR A GOD SEND!! I've watched so many videos on how to make a tulle skirt. In some I needed a zip, others it looked too childish, I was no longer wanting to do the the knot method etc. This by far is the best video i have watched. I'm wanting to make mine for New Years.. I wanted to combine gold and black tulle ( the gold is for highlight purposes). Any ideas on how best to create this??
This is awesome! The only thing that confuses me is the basting stitch...can you explain how to do that better? Did you go all the way around the waist or just a little on each side? THANKS!!!
Thank you! Thank you! I'm doing a very special project involving a wedding dress and while I'd love to use my own, my own wedding was so low-key (think barefeet, backyard and bbq wedding) that my actual dress is not frilly enough for this project. I figured I'd do a tulle skirt but I've been worried about the sheerness even if I did it super full and tu-tu styled... your underskirt is perfect. Shoot, I may put the tu-tu aside and just go with this instead and a crinoline skirt underneath for extra umpf. Either way, I've been inspired! (I'm just going to wear a fancy strapless top with the skirt and a veil)
I've seen a bunch of new sew tutorials for a tulle skirt, however, I really like the look of this more, I think because of the lining. Is there a way to add a lining to one of the new sew options. I am not good with stitches/needles etc lol
Your skirt look pretty, please where did you buy your tulle from and what quality, this is because I but same recently and after making the dress it shrinked up. Thanks in advance for your help.
FINALLY, i found a tutorial that i won't have to fight w/ tulle. *cut in sections* a-duh why didn't i think of that. awesome video, i will definitely make this, was looking for an easy video so i could make one for my daughters birthday. thank you.
I love this tutorial, I'm going to use this and downscale it for girls as well. Now if only I could work out how to craft your belt...he he Thanks so much for this video
Thank you for this great tutorial. How would you make the elastic band work if your're making the skirt for someone else larger than you?(As far as the stretch and pin part goes.
Thank you. I sew without patterns and am certified in sewing and alterations. This was the best tutorial I've come across. I actually saved this to my favorites! I will make a tulle skirt for my daughter. How can I contact you to show you my finished product?
I'm so not good with this whole measurement units.. ugh and I do not know how to sew by machine but hand yes. I wonder could I just put the skirt on an elastic band and just wear a slip underneath??
Hello Maria, I watched your video a countless amount of times and I decided to make a faux leather circle skirt for my daughter. But I wanted to know if I wanted to put a small elastic inside like the size you'd use to make a tutu or smaller can I just fold under at the waist pin it and sew around put in the elastic and close it? Please Helppp Thanks
Yes that is a great alternative I did a tulle skirt the same way for my cousins prom dress. I was concern it wouldn't fit right because she wasn't present when I made it and I used this technique. So you would cut the circle narrower and then foil down to the desired width needed for the skirt to easily pull over the hips. So measure hip not waist. I have a skater skirt picture tutorial on my blog that's very helpful as well as this tutorial written out that might explain more. Hope this helps best of luck
Thank you soooo much i am 12 and i make tutus and shirts and i wanted to make one like this for my mom and i am not very good w/ math but this was very easy ad understandable for me i have watched alot of videos and couldn"t understand a thing until now!!!!
Okay! So I was doing the measurements and I want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I took the measurement from my clients hip (39 1/8) and divided it by 6.28 and I got 6.23. That would be the cutout for the waist?
