Simple Dual Battery Setup in 80 Series Overland LandCruiser 

Interesting system. In the old days in both our boats and our Rv's, we had simple nobs that you turned for either left or right or both at the same time. You didn't have all the different options and ways to monitor the separate power. Very helpful.

Really enjoy watching this build! I’m mirroring a lot of the choices you made on the build of my LX450. Question, where did you wind up mounting the winch controller? I have the same setup coming from Ironman and don’t want to mount the controller on top of the bumper if I can help it.

91/92 also has the battery on the passenger side.... on another note, what are your thoughts on running the winch off the aux battery? I've always ran mine off the main as it should be getting more amperage from the alternator... thanks!

Great video! I'm curious, does the spod/controller eliminate the need for a switch pro? I'd like to put several lights on my cruiser, and I plan on running them off a second battery.

Great video. I'm going to tackle this myself. Thanks! Can you tell us how you wired from the second battery to the 'power center' in the rear. I'm wondering what type of wire you used, where it was run, and if it's a single connection to that power setup in the rear.

on my 94 fzj80 there is this little black box mounted on the air filter canister right where the new battery will go. it's part of the air pump system. it can be removed, now I'm looking for a hose that will reconnect the two open ends on the A/F canister and where it connects to the system on the engine. Any idea/info. bought the battery tray from Slee but nothing about the hose issue.

What a cool idea to run lights or radio gear. Using it to power that box of gadgets and gizmos in the back is lame though. The spirit of overlanding is to be surrounded by nature and enjoy the separation from the city, why bring blinking and chirping crap with you? That's why the 80 series design is so beautiful, it reminds us of the 90s, just before the internet really plunged its talons into most of us. So many overland dudes are geeky about lame shit, they feel like marvel nerds.
