I love these shoes! I did the first layer and they have been drying for an hour, but when I go to add the second layer it's rubbing off the first layer. Any advise?

Im so sorry for missing this message ive been out of action for nearly two weeks as Ive been sick! its highly likely this is occurring because the glue layer has absorbed into the canvas too quickly before the glitter was added. This can happen if the glue applied is too thin or you apply at a slower pace therefore the glitter just sat on the surface and not adhered. You should be ok to brush the excess off and reapply.

Does the glitter crack or anything from the shoe bending when you walk?

No, no shoe should ever crack if done correctly. If a shoe has cracked its happened because of one of the following reasons: 1. It was made on the wrong fabric based type shoe. 2. The wrong type of glue/adhesive was used. 3. A spray sealant was used to seal which is too thin and not flexible which hardens the surface, hope this helps

To be fair the glossy one is ok too it just leaves a shine but because it's glitter it takes away from the sparkle if that makes sense?

How will you clean or wash it if it gets dirty?

A light wipe will wipe away any dirt or you can use a Spray called GoGoNano which is a water repellent spray which can replay any fluids on the surface of the shoe keeping it cleaner

You have to seal it, not sealing it would eventually mean glitter would come loose and is not splash proof or water resistant so there isn't really any other alternative

There are alternatives but Aquapro is the best and most flexible. Sprays are too thin and harden the surface to make it unmoveable. You can pick up a cheaper decopatch varnish but please ensure it is a varnish and not a glue version.

@@RebiSollera It shows you in the video to use Aqua pro Decopatch, Please do not use wood varnish, it contains oil and those types of varnishes turn yellow.

@Romena Hussain I wouldn't recommend because some normal pvas might be too thick which is why mod podge is better choice because it's molecular structure is thinner. If a glue is too thick it will just sit on the surface and will peel which is not what you want if you wish for it to last

@Romena Hussain do not use leather at all. All leather shoes are waterproof and chemically pre-treated before hitting the shelves commercially therefore the moment you add glue to it it'll peel off once dried and will crack. This is why a lot of youtube tutorials fail because they are unaware of the molecular structure of leather fabric. Best way to look at it. Pour water on your leather shoes and watch the water drip off. It wont absorb the water. So how do you expect it to absorb glue and glitter? But if you use suede and pour water over it, it'll absolutely soak it. If you're worried about the shoe not being white then just use a suede shoe and paint it white it'll still adhere. You will still need a sealant otherwise the top layer of glitter will flake off

@@barbiemarie depending on where you are based you would need to use a clear varnish not a spray, it needs to physically soak into the shoe

Its recommended to use an adhesive that contains a oil base as it repells water which can also be used as a sealant, so having a glue with double function means it will last longer and be more durable meaning it has better resistance to outdoor weather so pick carefully and read the chemical list otherwise you undo all your hard work

Did you use a different color glitter for the last layer? Looks more silver

@@Cll9372 no worries I'll do it in the morning (1am here currently) and it was exact same glitter, the lighting/screen resolution may give the impression it's more silver but it is iridescent holographic, almost pearl shine in the way it captures the light, second layer will be more opaque than first layer normally. Hope this is makes more sense!
