I am not obese or anything, but I've got overweight over the covid lockdown days and sedentary work/lifestyle. I'm trying to make myself work out more and be more healthy in general, and I've found that I have REALLY strong grip for how little I've worked out. Fun grip challenges like these really keep me going, because I do some fat-grip dumbbells and half-crimp basic exercises, and these make me think "I should also do some more dumbbells, or do some more cardio in between . . ." Thank you Anton for the share!!

I do some competitive handgun shooting, so I've just recently started adding some grip specific training to my workouts. When I started working out again, I noticed my grip being more solid already, so hopefully the grip specific training helps even more. Being able to control recoil isn't based entirely in strength, but having strength is certainly helpful.

I have been doing a variety of hand grip exercises the past month and I have to say I did not realize how much grip plays into all exercises you do that the gym, especially pullups, dead hangs and one arm hang. Great video, back then they used recourses at hand and goes to show the exercises back then applies now. Nice for you to take the time and effort to do this video.

I've been lifting weights for about 4 months. In my last session, I did 3 sets of 8 reps on deadlift (conventional) with 112.5kg (248 pounds). I use a double overhand grip, and my left hand (I'm righthanded) is starting to struggle.😅 I need to improve my grip strength! Both overall and especially on my left. So thank you for this! Your vibe is always amazing. I hope to see you do a collab with Magnus again soon. I'm sure he appreciates you wearing Rungne.😊

Straps are lowkey worth it while you’re building your grip strength bc otherwise it just limits your workout on your other muscles
@NintendoSpilleren
@NintendoSpilleren Год назад
@@trencough4 I read up on it, and apparently I've been doing "touch & go" deadlifts. I'm switching to "reset" now, which may make the deadlift a bit harder, but it'll give my grip a little break.:) I'm trying to avoid the straps for as long as possible. I used to do rock climbing/bouldering (casually at a bouldering gym), and I want to do that again when I have lost some weight. So I really need the strong grip.:) I'm considering getting som Fat Gripz and adding them to my routine to boost my grip training as well.

What is your height and Body weight? 112.5 kg for 8 Reps, 3 Sets ist really strong for Lifting only 4 months!
@NintendoSpilleren
@NintendoSpilleren Год назад
@@PYROMARU I'm 179cm (5'10.5") and 105kg (about 231 pounds). After writing the original comment, I did some deloading to give my body a break and I was hit hard by the dreaded manflu in the beginning of this month, which set me back. Just yesterday, I was back to deadlifting 112.5 for 3 sets of 8.:) This time with reset reps, which is way better for my grip. Next deadlift session is 115kg and then beyond! I'm not at my max yet. However, my bodyweight was at 115kg when I started, so I lost 10kg. I'm trying to lose 30kg total to get to 85kg. While I'm losing weight, I can't expect to grow a lot of muscle, so my strength probably won't improve much.
@dylanyewest534
@dylanyewest534 Год назад
You can do a hook grip (where your fingers go over the thumb), or you can do a mixed grip (one arm underhand and the other overhand. Also, I wouldn’t be too worked up about grip if you’re not a power lifter. You can also use straps, just wait til you’re at your last set when the weight is the heaviest. By doing this you’ll be able to train your grip through your other sets. Hope this helps man 👍🏼

Here is one we used to do in ag shop in high school. Take a 10lb sledge hammer holding the very end of the handle with the steel end pointing straight up in the air and with your arm extended straight in front of you (arm parallel to the ground) lower the weight and touch your nose and then return it to the original upright position. In my adult years I have been able to do this also with a 12lb sledge. I have not found many who can do this. This uses a lot of wrist strength and some grip. I was 145lbs in high school and now weigh 170lbs so you don't have to be really big to do it.

When I was a teenager we would challenge each other: Take a 10lb sledgehammer hold it at the end of the handle with your arm extended straight out in front of you with the hammerhead straight up. Now flex your wrist allowing the hammer head to slowly lower to touch your nose then raise it again to the full up position. Repeat with the other hand. We trained to do this with 5lb hammers allowing the hammer to lower both to our face and as low as we could lower it in the opposite direction. It was tough but it was great exercise.

Funny you mentioned small wrists n hands. My hands aren't small they have a large grip area but they are relatively slim and skinny wrists. I have very visible tendons though both in my wrist and hands which I have developed through martial arts, manual labor jobs and helping grandma carry her shopping home when I was a child lol. My grip strength is pretty damn good as a result and many people have commented on my handshake, some have challenged me (in good spirits) gripped stronger and complimented me after for being so skinny but strong.
