This is the most amazing band in existence and Simple Gifts NEVER fails to bring a tear to my eye and chills over my body. There's something truly special about being from West Virginia.
As a lifelong Mountaineer fan I'd like to thank you for being a part of the best band in the WORLD. I've been a season ticket holder for many years and I'm ALWAYS in my seat early to watch The Pride. Everytime I listen to you guys play this song my eyes swell. God bless the Pride of West Virginia and all those who have played in it.
I has been almost 20 years since I did this..and I still miss it..espically after seeing this...What I would'nt give for Mr Wilcox to say 'One More Time"..
i just love this song and we are playing the Simple Gifts of Christmas at the new school(west fairmont middle school) in fairmont with me as the best drummer =). but this song always gives me chills
Thank you. That's why we call them the Pride of WV. If you want to see more pride please watch the Owen Schmidt interview after the Fiesta Bowl. He starts to cry when the Pride plays Almost Heaven.
Further, I remember this practice well. The paint hadn't dried on the field yet, hence they had plastic down on the turf and made us practice in our socks so we wouldn't mess it up. Good times...
happpy to find out my marching band isnt the only crazzy ones to have marched to this song. this is completely different then our version. i like it alot
I'm a senior in high school, and WVU is one of my top choices for college. If I do go there, I'm joining the marhing band for sure. It sounds so amazing.
I can hear the piece on this video, and see the piece but not hear it on the other. Holy smokes, it's gooooood. WVU is like nowhere else - I remember coming in there as a visitng (ahem, opposing) bandsman, & getting my game face on against that "Let's go, Mountaineers!"
Oohh I remember you guys playing this at the Gator Bowl... Remember the streamers that shot off when the football teams came on? Courtesy of the Terry Parker Marching Band
i was just wondering amberilla if u knew my cousin, he is a drummer but he was only in the band a while untill another one replaced him =/ his name is ben haley
Doesn't the climactic part of the piece come from Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland? It's definitely one of my absolute favorite musical works, it gives me goosebumps!
