This is wonderfully perfect! I've just begun messing around with anime nature scenes and this came at the perfect time. Can't wait to sit down and watch through this
Wow... just wow 😱😱 This is amazing, I am always blown away when I get to see another one of your videos. This grass is so beautiful! Keep up the incredible work!!
Whoever wants to make work on cycles just add a "set hair curve profile" set the radios to .03 , shape to .05 , change the curve back to strand in the render settings and you got it!
@@afellowhuman8944 Late reply but for those wanting the answer its check the materials tab on the new cube and apply the same material you created for the first one. That carries the shaders over.
On the Vector Rotate node you need to increase the value of the center field by a little if you get the same problem I do where the grass clumps up on itself
Hmmm, I think that version 4.1.1 works differently. I have redone the tutorial several times making sure to use your values, and my grass remains long, thin, and curved. Plus when I try to scale the plane the grass grows in size with the plane. I will download version 4.1.0 and try it again. Great video by the way, I love how you figured this out.
Great tutorial, except for one thing. I'm using 4.2 and can't fidn the blend mode for my grass materials. Where can I find it because I've serached all over and still can't find it.
I ran into the same issue. As for the shadows--turning them off in the object properties seems to create a similar effect. But dunno where the blending mode disappeared to in 4.2
Hi hi! I had a question/ Am experiencing a problem. At 5:50 when you say to plug the Align Euler to Vector into the Mix Rotation node, The bars become red and it does not work? do you know why?
Is there a simple way to adjust the shader and render engine settings to catch shadows without casting with the eevee changes in blender 4.2? I can turn off the sun light source shadows but then the cube does not cast any shadows and it seems that light groups are still cycles only
I absolutely love this tutorial and got great results following this , this got me out of the limbo is was stuck on a project . thank you so much cant wait to get more tutorials from u one question though how would u make this animation into a loop??
thank you for video! Would love to get information on cycles render engine and some of the changes that need to go in place when using it in the future :)
This was an awesome video since i'm thinking of making an animation video of my own and your video was the one that i was looking for but a humble request that can you combine two of your videos such as the rain splash and stylized grass to give the grass a sparkly crystal effect. Coz the geometry nodes looks like my mom. And Thanks a Lot !!!!
Thank youf for making this truly amazing, easy to follow, informative video tutorial. I onlyhope to understand how to grasp the concepts in Geo nodes inorder to create this process.
this grass is very beautiful. thank you for making this tutorial. I've been thinking for a long time how to make waves on the grass. but this method is very poor in performance, I couldn’t implement it on my laptop, blender crashed every time I tried to add a node.
this is so cool. i still dont understand an of geometry math but still this tut is so helping me. and btwdo you know how to fix stylezed shader in 4.2?
I think I mighta messed up because the grey gradient wind is a straight line across for me while yours seems to have more like.. waves to give the wind less uniform shape
I love it! It looks so good in the eevee render engine. Do you know if theres a way to get that shade-less look to work in cycles? The same normal trick doesn't seem to function the same in cycles.
mine dont work like yours and i did the exact same thing :( rotation node for some reason rotates the root of the grass not the actual tip and i give up
It is probably because he is using a different version of blender named goo engine made by proff goo (name on yt) and team , this version is specifically made for anime style render and all..
I want to make the grass appear on only the grass textured terrain, since I also have a terrain in the middle that's supposed to be dirt (devoid of grass). How do I make the grass not be on the center of the field?
Thanks for the video, I have learned a lot, and the nodes may look complex at the beginning, but what you say is true, as I practice, I gain confidence, but I have a question, how did you do it so that in the end the grass has that shape? They look like cones, they look good, you don't explain that in your video
spline parameter doesn't make that gradient. i have the nodes matching your setups in the video. any idea what could be wrong? great tutorial regardless. appreciate your energy and humor. thank you very much.
How to change the geometry of the grass, maybe not generate it but choose a ready-made object? What if I don't want a solid monotonous grass, but much more diverse? The grass in the video looks like a perfectly mown lawn, which only happens near a house, in the wild it does not happen.
I would think you can copy the geometry node, and with the second one just adjust the length, width, colour and density a bit. It'll add some diversity to your grass.
but what next? for example, I created a location and I want to add grass to certain areas of the area, say in the corners of buildings, a little in a vacant lot, what if I want the grass to be somewhere higher, somewhere lower. How can I use this method? How many computer resources does this method consume? But what if there are also animating flags and water in my location? Is this method optimal or is it just a way to create grass without the ability to use it later?
Hey! Excellent tutorial :D My only questions is how you get the grass to go from flat strips into more of a grass shape. I couldn't see a step for that in the tute and everything else works for me except they look like streamers. I tried to download the tutorial files too check out your node setup, but there doesn't seem to be one for this project, it looks like it only part of your patreon bundle :(
You want to convert the curves into meshes? In geometry nodes you can do that 👍 You can use the Curve to Mesh node and give it a circular Curve Profile to convert the grass into mesh
Im at 2:05, and for some reason my hairs are much longer (even at the same size than yours) than yours and much less dense, even if i exactly copy your settings
I'm not sure about Unreal Engine. It uses a different renderer than Blender, but I think it is possible. 👍 You definitely have to write some code or Unreal blueprints for it.
It looks nice on your thumbnail, but in reality this is all it works for. Some small scene with a very narrow purpose. Trying to set it up in a bigger scale will crush the app. You wouldn’t even be able to see it, let alone try and play the animation.
By the end of the first chapter, the grass simply breaks into squares on both sides of the surface, do you have any addons or is it a uv map? I just don’t understand why the result is so striking.
??? I can't really picture what you mean. Does the grass turns into squares? If so, it might have something to do with the accumulate field node. You might set something wrong around that time of the video.
@@tawansunflower yes, the grass turns into strange squares that are attached to both sides of the surface, it looks like an error, but I re-checked everything three times and no errors, perhaps the problem is in one of my third-party addons, I can’t find any other reason but I found a way to fix it: in the vector rotate node I changed the first value in center to 0.06 and the squares became more like grass, minus the truth that I can’t use your convenient method with the wind in this case, which is at the end of the video, but for scenes it’s all the same enough. Maybe when blender comes out in 4.2 stable it will come out to do exactly the same in general, it seems to me that this is either a conflict of addons or a bug, because without adding a value to vector rotate, I can’t even change the length of the grass, it’s just an unchangeable bunch of squares
ik im 2 months late, but im trying to do this with a cube but the problem is the grass also emits from the sides of the cube, i only want it to appear on top, is there a way to do that?
i have been trying this tutorial for a while now but cant seem to get it to work. i need like a density of 600 to cover the plane and after we have adjusted the joints and reset them to their original position my grass lays flush against the plain instead of staying up. if I continue to push on at the end my grass isn't upright but rather slightly tilted and doesn't blow in the wind. does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
It may have something to do with the curve offset setup (the part where you are getting the position of the control points). Make sure that the Offset in the Offset points in curves is set to 1 or -1.
i have followed the full tutorial but mine looks nothing like that i cant find the blend mode options in evee mode and in cycles mode the shadow gets to none but the blend mode is stuck at alpha hashed and never changes when i try to mine looks far away from urs so it will be helpful if u could give a solution to this problem i am using 4.2 blender and each and everything i have copied from the tutorial its 2:13 am and i am still trying to figure this out but cant
It looks different because a new Blender version just dropped (4.2) and basically changed many aspects of EEVEE. In other words, my tutorial is now outdated. 😭 Sorry for the inconvenience! If you want to you can dm me on twitter and I'll try to fix it for you.
HOLD UP, HOLD UP, wait a minute..... 7:49 the grass looked beautifully grassy(blocky type) 8:51 grass immediately looked pointy and like MAJESTICALLY grassy What did i miss??😭 mine look blocky and looked nothing like the final grass EDIT: did a bit of playin around and found out it was "set hair curve profile..." Lol🤧
Could someone help me please with adding a attribute node in the geometry nodes to assign the grass to a vertex group or be able to weight paint the grass (I tried messing around but I couldn’t figure it out), also when I rotated the wind in geometry nodes the texture of the grass didn’t rotate so the wind highlights are blowing backwards lol.
It should be uploaded within next week, but for now you can take a look at this video first. It's tutorial on how to loop noise textures 👍 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YVTLcJLWEJA.htmlsi=ZT712miBK3rxbVDV
@@tawansunflower hey i`ve tried to follow this tutorial in many ways, spend all day trying other set ups and dosen`t worked pleaaase how we can loop the animation
why does my hair curves, at the same settings as yours, look different? right after you adding the generate hair curves node, the plane is almost populated, while mine isnt? also, the height of the default setting grass is so tall for me? any thoughts? tyia
This tutorial is for EEVEE, but the geometry nodes does work on both 👍 Cycles needs a little modification to the geometry nodes and the shader for the grass to show correctly
Where do you learn this stuff . It’s hard for me to learn without context so I can follow the tutorial but can’t use this to create my own stuff. Can you create a video following the logic of way you do or use certain nodes. Right not I play with nodes and use random one but the effect and definitions of what they do don’t connect. I place random nodes trying to figure out what is going on but most of the time nothing happens
I learn most of it from RU-vid actually XD I really like those videos that explains every nodes and give a simple example. My tutorial is quite complex, so I have to recommend watching the basics first. 👍
