To switch off the i-stop function, you can simply turn on the light (manually), even the "position lights." I discovered it myself while I was trying to block that stupid function to work.

@@savydaniel It is not even true. I always have the AC at the lowest temperature, which is 15ºC. 365 days. And, as it should be, the i-stop is always active.

@@indoctum_iuga_ferre I've never used this menu in my 2015 Mazda CX-5, but I've noticed i-stop usually doesn't stop the engine when I have the air conditioner on.

@@indoctum_iuga_ferreI disconnected the switch from the bonnet, last year. No warning in the dashboard, no i-stop since then. In high-traffic areas, i-stop should always be off.

Yes because theoretically one of it criteria to turning off i-stop permanently is to switch off the AC, but its impossible to drive without AC here in my country, so I’ve found a solution that turns off I-stop without switching off the AC - that is reducing the AC temps to its lowest 👍🏻

If you are stopped. Hand brake on, change into Neutral engine goes off, as soon as you depress the clutch to engage first , the engine starts. Why leave the engine running with your foot on the brake, you are not in control of the car. If somebody hits you from behind, your foot will come off the brake and you hit the person in front of you, judging how close people stop behind the car in front.

Yeah it's a fair point mate, but the intent here is to not trigger the stop/start. Would be interested to see someone test the braking force of just the handbrake (2x rear brakes) Vs 'light' footpedal pressure (all 4) ​@@hastuart9639

@@Nobody0512 no flashing, just stays as amber. Not bothering at all, just like the headlight indicator turned on at night.

start and stop. basically when you are stopping at a red light, car engine turns off and pops back up when you press the gas pedal.

It even tells you on the screen "please apply more brake pressure" - no thanks Maz😂

Nonsense. my car is almost 10 years old, I use the I-stop all the time and I am still on the same battery from new and its a diesel so takes more to start. If I-stop was going to be a problem to cars then we would hear of more battery and starter motor failures, but we don't. There is more damege to batteries caused by people allowing them to go flat especially when we were in lockdown when a car wasn't used and no trickle charger used. The new chargers actually regenerate the battery and once fully charge give an internmittent trickle . Stop start has no effect on the battery, especially batteries that are designed for stop start and high current charging, but then fit a cheap battery on the car and expect trouble. When I first started driving batteries lasted about 3-5 years, but 10 years from a battery now on stop start cannot have done it any harm. This is an urban myth generated by people who are too lazy to secure the car correctly at traffic lights or other stops by - Handbrake - Neutral. Feet off the pedals.

Heavy discharge (ie from a starter motor) does no harm to car batteries. High ambient temperatures and sufonation (generally through infrequent) use kills them

Smart braking system? You mean the auto braking? Closest you can get is to turn traction control off, but take caution doing this on wet or slippery surfaces obviously.

@@T2HeadedEagle it cant be removed and any attempt to disable it (unplugging the front camera and/or radar) will leave a permanent light on the dash. So there's no perfect way to get rid of it, save for buying a new car.

It's universally known as "stop-start". It temporarily turns off the engine when you stop, and starts again when you take your foot off the brake to get going again

In ND istop is off if you set air direction to windshield on right knob. Also there is a hack with tape and sensor checking of hood is open but I wasn’t checking it.

why do you want to shut off your engine every time you stop? It's not good for an engine to start and stop that much it will mean you have to replace the engine sooner.

@@greego5952 this was a problem in the early stages of start/stop features. but with the modern design of the starter this isnt a problem anymore. for the engine itself: the petrol variant is fine, idk about the diesel tho

In a stop and go scenario if you don’t fully depress the brake istop doesn’t activate either. I can always control when it turns on by adjusting my breaking force when stopped on the lights. Light press - no istop, harder - istop switches on. Easy as that.
