Simple Ken is hosted by Kenny Sebastian, A stand up comedian known for his observational humour and quirky stage presence.
A simple podcast about tackling the weekly conflicts of a comedian.
A strictly "no advice" podcast.
I had to think really hard about what I wanted to share on this weeks episode. Especially with whats happening in our country and I decide to share what is going through my head since that can't be argued/disputed over 'facts'. The general sense of well being in our country is shaken and I hope we come together to make it better. Also, I have the lovely Biswa on this episode, We have a very interesting friendship and passionately share a lot of opinions that we seldom make public. Thank you for all the lovely questions and making this series what it is with your support.
Tweet/RU-vid/ Instagram your questions and discuss whats on the episode using the hashtag #simpleken.
Simple Ken is available on all major podcasts platforms for free including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Gaana and Soundcloud.

I have no questions for you and just wanted to say thank you for being the reason I smile/laugh on not so good days:) In others words, you are excellent at your job and hopefully you will never stop doing this! Also, this podcast is very interesting and entertaining!

question: I am an introvert yet bold and expressive when it comes to talking to people, not too conscious about what others think, be it when I pose funny or while cracking jokes upon myself and I feel this gives others the freedom to take me light and crack jokes on me yet i take it sportive and more importantly the feeling that "it's her she doesn't mind" or I don't know how to put it in words..its basically taking advantage of me and they somehow convince me in doing what they want even if I say NO at first. And I now feel this is because I express myself out there and should rather wear a mask which will make people think twice before talking to me. So ken what's your perspective about this to be whimsical, funny and center of attention or the wise, a little serious respectful one when you are around people #simpleken

Wow I related a lot to your description of yourslef in the beginning and I've been that person, only that went away when I had a change of environment and met new people, they do not do what my previous friends used to... The same taking me lightly stuff and trust me that's a refreshing change so maybe you need to find people who see you for who you are and not take you too lightly, a little is okay alternatively you could try to tell those people that you feel like this... Sorry for the unwanted advice I never do this, just related too much to your description of yourslef

I feel strangely the same way but I feel like at some point no matter how you act there's a part of your personality that is strongly linked with how you behave around people so maybe you're not putting that much of a mask when you feel like you're "acting like the whimsical or the serious one" but it's really just a part of who you are. So maybe if you think of it that way and not be overtly aware of how you act around people you can understand yourself better in that sense. (not giving any advice tho lol)

Kenny: What are your thoughts on Friendship? Biswa: Good 😂😂😂😂😂😂 #simpleken 1.Why do we Human Beings are unaware of our position in the Universe ,which is almost irrelevant in this vast cosmos. Why is everyone thinking about their own menial stuff when there are other things ,which if we all put our minds collectively into can probably solve. Is it the animalistic trait that we have in ourselves? 2. Why things occur randomly like Biswa said, Science has the explanation "How?" But it can't explain "Why?" , Does our existence have a purpose or we are just a consequence of random cosmic events?

Question: As stand-up becomes more of a political tool with each passing day, do you believe that a joke can be reductive about the nuance accompanying most political or social agendas? Or do you believe the contrary, that a joke can do what most other mediums rarely can, which is cut through the bullshit and say exactly what is on everyone's mind and still have people laugh at it? Further, how much damage can a misinformed opinion, veiled as a joke, do? P.S. - thoroughly enjoyed this episode of the podcast :) #SimpleKen

Hey Kenny. Big fan for a long time. And love the friendships and camaraderie you all have. More than just your individual stand-ups and "long recording of you talking"-s, I really enjoy the relationships this group (you, Kanan, Biswa, Tanmay, Zakir, Abeesh and many others) have with each other. Thank you. I wish I was part of that friend circle (no offense to my existing friends who are all awesome too :D) One random suggestion: After hearing you in the last 4 LROYTs, I kept thinking if you have heard/read Adam Grant. If not, I would highly recommend listening to his podcast called Work-Life. He has books (if you are into those... 😂) too. But I would love to hear you talking about him, because the stuff he researches/studies are basically the stuff that you think (and are often concerned/bothered) about. Thanks again for all the stuff you do!!

#simpleken People say politics is a rotten field. But a simple follow up to this is that if you think the people who compete for positions of power are corrupt and self centered why don't you join politics yourself to bring a change? I think this question will either make people perplexed or defensive. How does one resolve this paradox?

Oh, my god, Kenny. Thank you so much for bringing Biswa and picking his brains about such a wide variety of things. Watching Biswa's standup over the years, I always got the feeling that he is someone who is deeply self-reflective, philosophical, and at times nihilistic, but now I know for a fact that all those things are true. Hard to believe that nobody before you had sat this gem of a person down and recorded an interview or a conversation with him in this manner. AaaHhhhhhh haha I haven't felt this way about a podcast ever in my life. It feels like my thoughts are being voiced and challenged at the same time. This is a great show and I am a fan. Hey Kenny! This is probably the first comment that I've posted on RU-vid (as far as I can remember) but #SimpleKen is like a breath of fresh air. I can't remember the last time people were actually finishing any 45 minutes long video. Everyone is complaining how our attention span is getting shorter and the movies, cricket matches everything is being squeezed down. But I believe it's only the mediocre content that fails to keep them engaged. And of course shorter content means more money. Anyway, Simple Ken can be an example. If only you were making money out of this. 😆 Keep up the good work and we love you dude.

Do you think that binging on videos or any series, or just spending too much time consuming content online (including social media) is the reason why most of millennials and gen Z are so sad and depressed? I've noticed that whenever i spend too much time watching videos or binging on series, i kinda forget all bout my goals and dreams, and just start feeling so sad and purposeless. #simpleken

There's certainly a theory about that. *Dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins* are considered to be happiness giving chemicals. In old times there were no means other then doing stuff they genuinely liked to have them realeased in them but now when we have these stuffs those chemicals are released without us doing any work but by simply watching them which diverts our minds from our goals.

When you grow up, you just realize that it's just another exam and does not affect your life greatly. Just want to put it out there for all the young teens who need to read this. All the best btw! Hi Ken, What is your take on existential crisis? Do you believe that the younger generation is going through this a lot sooner than the previous one? I mean like my father and some of my older cousins turned more spiritual after 40-45 years of age when they have had a fare share of success (as they've been told like house, bank balance, good job etc.) Nowadays, people have access to too much information too soon. So do they become more self aware too early for their own good? #simpleken

So I was listening to this while doing chemistry (which I obviously stopped doing) and my book is now full of points which I had to comment, and here goes: -This was a brain treat. Very thought provoking, exhilarating and yet radiating contentment. (Very rare combo.) -I used to fear aging. But seeing you guys assign uncertainty to the present made me realise the future was also going to be a collection of new fleeting moments, nothing to fear, nothing which should invoke dread. Hearing about Biswa's grandma helped a lot too. -The one comment about ambition vs contentment really hit home. Alongside the futility of calling brick and mortar "home", and that of calling sub-subjective states: "Sucess and failure." -The self awareness bit was also really interesting to delve into inside my own head and judge where I stood with respect to that. -So yeah, this was all but boring, 😉 Thanks for recording this, as someone who is trying to draw the venn diagram between their journey and destination, this helped A LOT. Indeed at the end of all how's, there is a why, which is largely unanswered. Perhaps unanswerable, perhaps not. Accepting that makes one add a tint of curiosity and contentment to their nihilism. Which maybe makes it an entirely new kind of philosophy. This conversation was a treat to be a part of. Please keep making this, and do call biswa again.

You know when I was a kid I always used to ask my dad while watching movies, why people always hope that villain should die and hero and heroine lives happily ever after.. but in reality they want to play villain.. It's so strange. Thanks for starting this show. It is really cool. I love it. So I’m aware I’m boring and I do nothing about it. I’m also a person who doesn’t speak a lot also because I don’t like to speak if I have nothing worth to speak and I just like to listen to people whom I find interesting, but I realise that people find me boring and maybe that’s also a reason I don’t speak. What should a person do to be more interesting? I’m asking this question even though I feel there’s no answer to it. I believe that a person should definitely try but not force it if there’s nothing that can make them interesting, I wonder what will your reply be. Eagerly waiting.🙈 P.S- Love these long recordings of you speaking! #SimpleKen

well i have also faced such situation where i dont have have anything worth interesting to share during a conversation. I also do feel that I have become boring as I am growing older. But its more about becoming comfortable with who you are. You dont need to be interesting for others, just to be in good books of other people. you can be true to your self accept who you are and still be friends with someone without them judging you for you being a little boring sometimes.

Well it's not you who is boring, It's just that people don't talk sense these days and People like you like talking about deep stuff, the stuff that really matters, that makes you question a lot of things and gives you different perspective... But most people these days think that talking about this is boring and they rather prefer trashtalks.... I can totally relate to you.... I would suggest you what I do to keep myself happy..... I read a lot, I write sometimes, meditate and enjoy the company of myself. At first I felt I am becoming more lonely, but It's just that I have started loving myself more. When you do that, you automatically get surrounded by the REAL people.

TJKICKX I don’t really give importance to what people think about me, earlier I used to but not now. And it’s not about what people think of me, it’s about what I think of me, and it’s just when I’m not being interesting, I can feel the awkwardness. I can literally feel the vibe in the air, and that’s what bothers me a lot.
@ishitaaggarwal5599
@ishitaaggarwal5599 4 года назад
EAT STUDY REPEAT Absolutely agreed. I do read, I used to write a lot, not anymore. I don’t do meditation and all, which I’m not sure when I’ll do considering my laziness. I’m much more happy being alone than I used to be, a lot of things which used to bother me, I’m over that, I don’t talk to anyone nowadays and it doesn’t bother me. The problem is what I feel about myself, I haven’t fallen in love with myself but I love me, it’s like one sided love. I’m working on that, but that’s not my question. My question is how can I be more interesting when I know that I’m not interesting, and like Biswa said that the person should do something about it, I mean what can a person really do to be more interesting?

Happy that today's idea about education is being addressed...I'm a tenth standard student and always wondered as to how much of we study actually makes 'sense'.. It's sad how ratta Mar is promoted....we had a question in our textbook ; what are measures taken by government to increase women representation in legislative bodies, and it was kinda pointless learning that when nothing is done about it..also we learn about how malpractices like 'money and muscle power ' is erradicated in elections whereas it's still happening, democracy is glorified in civics texts but in reality it doesn't uphold it's glory
