I was supposed to be at Bournemouth. Covid obviously did its bit to keep cancelling the show and then I went and got cancer!!! I spent that day hooked upto a nice bit of chemotherapy. All I can ask for is good health and maybe another chance to see the band
Hi Lee I was there too Block B Row J Centre Stage VIP and for a couple of 62 year old Guys Jim/Charlie (Im 59 this year!) they still sounded great and get better like a fine wine! ...........Been following this group since 1979 and saw them as a support group at a gig in Malvern(I was only 15) Everyone had a great night and it was well worth the 2 year wait although it felt like it was never going to happen........thanks for uploading the video and regards Paul
Hi ya Paul, I totally agree with your comments I’ve followed them for a long time now and they never let people down, just an amazing live band. Roll on the summer outdoor gigs..👌
Jim looks like he means every word he sings, you can bet he does! He's still a great singer! This anthemic song speaks to the mostly Irish blood in my veins!
Mick was a writer on everything they recorded until Street fighting years in 1989. He left because he wanted to take a break because they had been constantly recording and touring for 11 years by that point but Jim and Charlie wanted to go to Holland to start work on the follow up to street fighting years as they were on a roll so Mick said you can go to Holland but I Wong be with you and that's why Mick left. if they had agreed to his wishes and taken a break he would probably still be in the band now. He has stated he is open to working with the band again. He doesn't hold any grudges. too much water has passed under the bridge he said but Jim and Charlie are too stubborn and pig headed to swallow their pride and ask him. When asked what era of the band would he like to take the band back to he said sons and fascination, how cool would that be? this might be an Irish folk song with different lyrics but it's Micheal Macneil' s keyboards with Charlie's guitar that make it what it is. When he left he took the soul of Simple minds with him and they have been a quarter as good since.
Did you not get the reference to our current troubled times, tenuous I know but any reference to the tyranny and atrocity is a worthwhile and relevant one.
God they sound tired and worn out and this bunch of hired hands are the worse yet and I have been a fan of this band since 1985 but until they swallow their pride and ask Mick back it will allways be a faux Simple Minds. sorry but that's a fact.
