FINALLY. SOMEONE SAID IT. Shoulda guessed it would be the Tactical guys lol. From mid-May to mid-October, I absolutely *crush it* on a weedless Ned-rigged Giant TRD with a swivel head jig. Best discovery I’ve made in years. Try it guys! Tim’s 100% right.
Hahaha they got quiet when you asked them to keep it down,,🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 love your vids thank you so much for helping me with new fishing techniques! Love you guys
The main problems with a ned rig, for me, is that mushroom-shaped head. When the bottom is covered in slime, gunk, and vegetation, that head and line tie get caught on everything! To get around this, I'll actually use a 2/0 O'Shaugnessy hook and Texas rig it with a small bullet weight (1/8 oz or smaller). The small hook allows that small tail to still wiggle, and the weight punches through the gunk but will still allow that presentation to stand up like a regular ned rig does, especially with a bait that floats.
@@LowBrowFishing Same problem here in Massachusetts. Plenty of junk on the bottom and very little hard gravel. Line ties, swivels and shakey heads attract the “spinach” and ruins the cast. I like the Texas rig better.
The swinghead deal is something I’ve been doing for a couple years with the GrandeBass air tail worms. More specifically the AirTail Rattler. Also instead of using a weighted TRig Senko I’ve been using the airtail neko worm in its place. That little bulbous tail floating of the bottom has been awesome.
You guys (Matt in particular) tend to throw a swing/wobble head with a creature bait. I don't know why I never would have thought to throw a straight tail worm on one 😁👍
Thank you for going outside the box for Ned presentations. All I ever used was traditional Ned heads. On Monday, I will use the swing head with my monster Z Man worms. TB makes fishing planning exciting.
Those Roboworms are so deadly. Bass can’t resist em. I’ve caught Striper and Pikeminnow on them too. The Ned is almost cheating. I absolutely love it. When I’m desperate for a bite (which is often because I’m a terrible fisherman) I slap on the Robo on a 1/10 ounce Ned and get to catching. Great video as always.
I’ve been killin it this summer with a 1/10oz Ned lock head and the Pb&J, June bug, and Green pumpkin finesse trd. Every time someone on Fishbrain asks about the Ned rig I always send them over here!
I've been using a big Dirty Jigs shakey head and the Giant TRD. I'll throw the wobble head with it this next weekend! Thanks Tim! Excited to throw the Rainbow Tactical Wake I just bought too!
Went out on the river yesterday with 2 of my buddies. Brought a counter to keep track and we landed 332 smallies. Caught most of mine on a Ned rig. Ultra clear water and it caught everything from the dinks to the giants.
Been using the ned rig all year been loving it got my first smallie on one this year even designed my own ned with a little something extra on it its so powerful I hate to give up the secret you and Matt are two of the only a few people I'd be willing to tell I throw a regular ned before modification and it sees little interest I throw mine and they smash it
Man I appreciate you guys so much! GREAT INFO CONSISTENTLY!! U Just put me on to the wobble head n I haven’t even fished it yet but I know it’s gonna get bit!!
lifted jigs makes some of the best ned ewg hooks. 1/0 and 2/0 hooks bunch of different weights and colors. Dont get me wrong, love the zman stuff and their nedlok but sometimes you need a longer hook length without also increasing the overall weight as well.
Tim, have you guys ever used the Nikko Hellgrammite? Ned rigs work great but I use a Hellgrammite on a 1/10oz. Zman bullet jig head. I catch a lot of largemouth on it and it is absolutely the BEST lure for smallmouth in creeks. That setup is weedless and looks so natural, the fish can not resist.
I cannot wrap my head around what makes the big Ned rig you showed different then a shaky head. I started throwing some big worms after your video on it and those big worms on a shaky head look almost identical to the big worm on the weedless Ned rig. What am I missing?
I'm throwing deep cranks, big Texas rigs snapping tubes, a fish here a fish there right!!! Oh nooooo!!! Here's my kid showing the old man up with that darn ned rig!! Fish after fish after fish, deep, rocks. grass, wood shallow, humps doesn't freaking matter, lake st clair, lake erie, inland lake, rivers. IT DOESNT MATTER, HE KICKS MY ASS ALL THE TIME. NEG RIG IS DEADLY
Don't the mushroom style heads of the weedless version of the ned hooks you showed get caught up in grass? Z-Man makes a more "pointed" version that gets through the grass a little better. I think it's made for their swimbaits
I stopped buying ned regs and just started using beat up worms cut to size and add a worm rattle and been slaying in jersey since. To me the ned hook itself and the rattle r more important then the bait
I need get some them football hooks that head moves been on line getting in auctions for baits to give bunch kids thru kids fishing group. Getting ready to move so selling everything but fishing camping my knives collection my dads tools he gave me right before we lost him to cancer but cloths and TV rest selling buying baits gonna fish 2 spots in each state we drive thru. Once all my baits gone im retiring with my baits i use but hoping my yard sale goes good I need a lot hooks we go thru so many kids get 2 to 5 pks each 2 bass 2 brim 1 for crappie if they catfish that also but 5 max being cost alot now day. When started 15 years ago o had so much saved over the years. But thanks for the video just this year or end last year got ned baits to give looking for sales on them hooks also. But again thanks. I need find Chanel that just shows baits how to fish or rig up that way can show the kids at the lake. Ill have big tablet so can watch and see good. So deff save your video thanks and god bless.
The Crabby Old Guy in me says that the term "Ned Rig" is being way over-used. A Ned Rig (Midwest Finesse Rig) is a small (3-ish inch) plastic on a light (1/16-ish oz.) jig head. It's not a swing head, it's not on a 1/2 oz. football head, and it does not use a full-size plastic. I get why the industry want$ to expand the definition, but I do wish we could come up with a different name for Ned Rig derivations, as I fear that, before long, new anglers will term any plastic on any bare jig head a "Ned Rig". Is it a huge deal? Probably not, but I do value the history and traditions of this sport, and I like to see them accurately portrayed to those new to the hobby. Hope this is something the TB guys take into consideration for future videos. Enough of that rant. Good luck out there!
@@oldeschoolbob1022 I agree. Its not that important in the grand scheme of things but it's no longer accurate once shakey heads and wobble heads become "Ned Rigs"
@@MongoFishing If you haven't, take a look at Ned Kehde's video about how the Ned Rig came to be. Great stuff. The industry has absolutely broadened the definition, and I get it, but I just hope that the true Ned Rig is not forgotten. I probably throw it more than most Florida anglers; just amazes me that fish can react like they do to that teeny bit of plastic.
