Simple Pellet Paste Bait: Great for Carp, Tench & Bream Fishing (2020)
Did you know you can make a brilliant paste bait using just soaked pellets? If you like paste fishing then try this easy paste bait made from soaked halibut pellets. It is quite a tough bait, so best for carp fishing, tench fishing and barbel fishing. It makes a great wrap for boilies too.
Most pellets will work well, but my favourite are halibut pellets in 3mm to 10mm sizes. Just soak overnight in just enough water to cover them and then kneed until the soft pellets have been transformed into a pungent paste!

Great trick I used to do this way back in the day before method feeders,frame feeders I would wrap it around my lead with a short hair,and as a young lad starting out this was the perfect way to fish

Paul. I've just discovered you and found your info really helpful - many thanks! I have a naïve question please... I note that pre ground fishmeal/pellets are freely available to mix as groundbait or paste. What's the benefit of preparing your 'whole' pellets overnight and 'mushing' them, over simply using pre-ground versions, with the exception that you may not always be able to buy a pre-ground version of your specific favourite pellet?

Hi Paul. Really like your vids. I tried your method for pellet paste for the first time. Unfortunately, the pellets were way too wet and soft. Any tips about how to get the right consistency? Cold water, hot water, grind the pellets, etc. How long did it take you to get the method right? Thanks.

Hi Andy, I normally use cold water. If the paste is a bit soft you can add a little bit of flour just to stiffen it up. The gluten in the flour acts as a binder. Tight lines!
