Simple Performance Techniques on the Pioneer DJS-1000

If you've seen any of the demos online of the Pioneer DJS-1000 being used it will probably have blown your mind with how much there is going on & just have feature packed the unit is so in this video I thought I would strip it all back and show you some really simple techniques for using the DJS-1000 in your sets. These are all tips & tricks that I use regularly in my sets and hopefully after watching you'll see that it's not quite a scary as you first thought!

Is the send output the same as a master output? As I have the FLX10 and was wondering if you can use one of the speaker outputs to the mixer then bring it back in via one of the channels?

If it's in the DJ booth I definitely make use of it, usually though just for layering drums over what is playing. I find it most handy when I mix in a track with less high-end presence than others around it, to which I then add in my own hats & snares via the DJS.

No one uses the djs in the same ways. It's so muti functional and versatile that it in fact no one really knows how to use it to its full potential

First of all, I love your videos! How were you able to shut the Master OFF on the DJS-1000? I cannot take the Master off and make the DJS sync to my CDJ;s. I have the original CDJ 2000 nexus and DJM-900 NXS2 mixer. I can't quite figure it so I have to always be beat matching manually. I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. I am using LAN cables to LAN Switch hub. Any advice would be great. I was wondering if there is some button on the DJS-1000 that I have to hit to take the master off.?? I guess another question might be, how do you have all the connections hooked up? Thank YOU!

If everything is linked up correctly (all decks go into the switcher) then you should just be able to hit master on one of the CDJs and it will turn master off the DJS. However the way it works is that whatever is playing last will automatically get set as master, so if you're mixing between CDJs you'll see the master light bounce from one to the other when you stop play on the first. I'd imagine this is what is happening with the DJS, especially if it is kept running whilst you're mixing. Hard to say without seeing but that's a guess!

@@DirtySecretz Yes I tried all that. I put a ticket in with Pioneer and I am hoping they could help me. I am wondering if only the Nexus 2 CDJ's only communicate with the DJS for some odd reason, not sure though. Hoping not! Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Another fantastic video! Great work and very useful tips! I don't suppose you fancy putting together another video utilising the AS1 with DJS? I watched the Stranger Things video but would love to see, how best to use it with DJS.

Yes, I will be doing something like that very soon! The first video will be using the SP-16, AS-1 and a couple of other external instruments to create a track. I've also got planned another video where I'll be showing how the DJS-1000 can be used with external equipment :)

Can anyone help me I'm trying to find a way of syncing my prime 4 to djs1000 I've heard there's an app for Ableton that links your phone to the djs so when you live sample it stays in sync
