In all the years watching and of everything you’ve taught, shown, demonstrated this lesson is one of the best thing I’ve learned, absorbed and just truly understood in real clarity. It’s only second to pickup, turn on your camera and take a shot. The Foreground to me just gives a great context story to the shot and in being there. Oh yeah, I’m very much also reminded I’ve yet to complete the Photography Course. Distractions 😏!!!

Another great tutorial Nigel, thank you. I've had a wide angle lens for years and really really started to use it in the last year or so after starting to learn the basics on what works well. It's still very hit and miss for me currently but some of my favourite photos I've taken are wide angle shots. One thing I have learnt from others and as you say is that I've been guilty of getting the tripod out too soon and not studied the scene for long enough to get the best out of it, seeing some of the shots later on a bigger screen shows up how I could have moved a little to the side or up and down the hide and reveal distractions.

Great video, I know about leading lines and finding that interesting foreground that adds to the composition, but it can sometimes be so hard to find. Thanks for the photography tips on shooting foreground landscapes. Here’s an idea to make the foreground more interesting when the lighting outside is cloudy and flat. Use off-camera flash to illuminate the foreground. That would add interest and separate it from the mid-ground and background.

I win again, the thumbnail that I voted for hahaha ✌🏻❤️ Amazing tips 🙏🏻 The most failure I did as I became my first ultra wide angle lens the sigma 10-20mm (15-30 full frame) is that I was always trying to be soooo close to the foreground, and that makes it obviously so big and that destroys the balance of the photo if the background is so far away. Another mistake is going so low all the time, and by so low I mean I'm about 10cm from the ground 😅 and that makes the foreground again so big and also it starts to block the whole scene and the whole background behind it. It's so nice to use but one should take care of balancing the background in a good way ✌🏻❤️ Stay safe and healthy dear Nigel 🙏🏻❤️

Hi Nigel. Another brilliant and informative lesson. I am new to landscape photography and looking forward to practicing with the information you have provided in this video. I only have a couple questions with focus that I struggle with when shooting landscapes. First is I am guessing you would use center single focus point as the setting to use and the other is where to focus. I get confused on these therefore most of my images have blurry foreground. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you for all you do to help struggling newbies learn to improve our skills.
