I always put off self care because I never think I have time to waste on something like that but I love how you make it a priority and show us how to do the same without losing too much time. ☺️💜💜
It might be a big statement because RU-vid is so full of helpful content, but I genuinely feel like your channel is the one that has helped me the most consistently over the last few years. Thank you, thankful for you ❤️
I needed this video so much, Rowena. To be honest, I don't even know what self-care is... There are things that I do that I think are 'self-care' for myself but genuinely till this point, i'm still trying to figure out what I can do to really make myself less stressed. Your video reminds me a lot of the atomic habits book- and thank you so much for that :)
If this helps I started with what a human needs to be healthy. Kind of like treating myself as my own child or pet. So humans need some healthy food, sleep, movement, sunlight, fun, and socialization. I started there and experimented with what I like in each bucket. On rough days I can combine many of these into just walking around a pond and looking at the turtles at lunch, keeping water nearby all the time, chatting with someone during my commute, and keeping some healthier snacks stocked by my office desk. Sleep is a struggle for me.
@@tiryaclearsong421 thanks for the reply! honestly, I feel like I personally have double standards.... when it comes to myself, I'm a lot harsher and stricter- but to others, I encourage them to rest and compliment them!! I feel like a part of me doesn't really know how to be kind to myself but I'm learning. thank you so much for your advice/tips, Tirya! 🧡
okay breathing is actually a lot harder than I thought!!! I have been super anxious lately and I realize sometimes i just HOLD MY BREATH and then Im like omg how do I breathe!! I think Im going to try to find some guided breathing videos and actually try to remember to breathe
✨Taking good care of ourselves and making quality alone time is so so important, even when we are busy. Always make time for yourself. Thank you for all the tips you shared in the video, Rowena.
This is sooo helpful! I keep trying to jam pack my morning and evening routine with 5+ activities and end up not completing any. I love that you just schedule ro time as me time without a fixed activity as our mind and body needs differ nourishing activities each day. Definitely going to try this out and combat my all or nothing mindset towards morning/evening routine! Ps. You seem so relaxed in this video. Happy to see you prioritizing ro time above work :)
For me, having a clean space is an act of self care for me and my husband! So I'm trying to implement the "empty sink/clean kitchen" night rule, as well as 1-2 loads of laundry per day! It's lead to a lot less stress especially when I go to cook dinner for us after long days at work! I need to focus on making my self care a little more movement focused. I've been using video games as a relaxer and it's not beneficial because it makes me very lethargic. Thanks for this video!
Hi Rowena! I really love how you take time out of your day to solely focus on your spiritual practice. I used to do this with my family when I was a kid. As an adult, most times I just do a quick little prayer on my way out of the door. This morning, I got up early and gave my undivided attention to my prayer and I feel so much better! Thank you for reminding me how important it is to take care of my soul💜
My biggest struggle with self care is sleep. I'm omw to mastering a horrible time management (and depression) solution. I have only been able to be productive at night/early morning (10pm-7am ish) and have been fighting myself to reset, wake up early, be productive, sleep early. I was living every day with guilt and regret. Instead, I've leaned into what my mind and body are telling me to do. Thankfully, I work from home and take online classes so I am able to work "3rd shift" and take my time getting things done with the silence of the night. It's been working! P.s. sunrise coffee hits different when it's a pick me up instead of a wake me up
Love this 💗 I feel like you’re one of my self care teachers, and I’m so grateful to be on this journey with you. Reading “work clean” right now and one of my big takeaways resonates with what you’re sharing: plan intentionally to make time for what you actually need, and do whatever you have to do to make it happen. A framing from my therapy work is “parenting” myself. Rather than just working late in a reactive, scattered way, I step outside of myself and try to care for myself like a loving parent-thinking logically and compassionately about what I need, and how I can get there. 💗
I actually recently put my phone charger by my desk instead of the bedside table and replaced it with a novel I am reading. And in the morning, I tell myself that I don't really need to know what time it is and as such don't need to check my phone (I am a student from home, so I can sleep as much and as little as I want), and I have made sure to read at least 1 page every day. This 1 page often turns into 10-20 pages instead, this is a way to activate my brain as well as check on my condition. If I read less than usual, I know that I need to care for my needs and have some alone time that day! Am I reading a lot more, I know that I am in my best condition and should focus on doing a lot of schoolwork as well as cleaning and doing chores I usually find mentally exhausting :)
Self care and me time literally changed my life. I'm less stressed and more present and self aware.💯 I always enjoy your vids and relate so much.💕 Sending love and positive energy to everyone reading this ❤
In my first minute of waking up I've broken the habit of immediately checking social media but a new maybe even worse habit has formed. I spend the first minute wishing that the day would wait for me to be ready to start. I find myself thinking/stressing out in bed for about 30 minutes putting off getting up till I absolutely have to
I started my new job recently and had to change up my daily routine but when you said to fit work around your non-negotiables, something clicked. Again, thank you so much for pick-me up today it was much needed aaaa ps. voice hugs is SO GOOD! i've been binging the podcast and the one about break ups in friendship gave me insight to my own friendships as well. I love you and Viv so much thank you
I found having a paper planner helped me become realistic with my time and how much I used to pile into 1hr 😂. I also charge my devices before sleeping then switch off all the plugs in my room. That way, using my phone at night means it'll be flat in the morning and that's annoying to deal with 😂. Still trying to stop procrastinating my self-care for university work but I think I've gotten better. Thanx for the videos ❤️.
Love this so much, thank you for your tips! One of my biggest tweaks in my routine as I’ve gotten older is realizing that I need slow transitions in the morning and at night - so i may wake up/go to bed an extra 15 min earlier just to lay in bed and enjoy the slowness :)
You have no idea how much I needed to see this great video. Self care hasn't really been a priority, so this is a reminder of how important self care is, and I can't wait to implement this simple self-care routine into my own life. Beautiful video Rowena! 😀
Hello! I absolutely LOVE your videos they are so supportive and helpful not sure if you will see this but is there any way you could make a video on DICIPLINE and how to be more disciplined that is something I struggle with A LOT along with Procrastination
I've made an effort to try and use my headspace app to meditate every morning :) I didn't even realise how much it was helping until I was speaking to my psychologist and she and I noticed how well I'd managed my anxiety over the last month! Tis real, folks, make time for that self care!
the title is a mood bc i got called into work today last minute and procrastinated school work all weekend bc i knew i had sunday to catch up and now i am stressin 🙃
You have no idea how much I needed to see this! I literally started my day with self care and your video was the first I saw! Thank you Love 💛 you definitely help this little potato
Hi, Rowena :) My name is Halyna, I'm from Ukraine. I have only recently come across your channel and I am very happy about it. There is a war in my country now (russia wants to take away the territory of my country and is killing Ukrainians, a lot of real horror) and it is very difficult to keep calm and keep the psyche normal, but after watching your videos the experience is easier. Thank you very much for reminding me that life is worth living. You are a source of inspiration and positivity, thank you for your work and creativity!♥️🙌🏻
Cleaning before going to bed at night and making my bed after doing my first chunk of work in the morning has always been helpful for me. My goal is to stop scrolling so much and either read, cook, go on walks or workout instead.
I get up earlier. This is generally hard for me ☺ but it allows me more time in my day to achieve what I want. I also allow myself to do what feels like the most natural next step, as opposed to sticking to a hard schedule for the day.
I love these kinds of videos!! 🌞 theyre refreshing and helpful, really taking inspo for kickstarting back my own channel 💗 can you make a video of your yt journey, what you learnt along the way, how to plan/make content and how to overcome fear of first sharing videos here? Would be so helpful🥰
Thank you so much for walking through how you untie yourself from your phone while in a distance relationship. My partner lives a few hours away, and I feel awkward not being online until the moment I go to bed because I want her to know I care about her. Seeing someone else talk about how to tackle "put your phone away before bed" self-care advice while being in an LDR is very valuable. 🤩
Thank you for a realistic self care routine, it really inspired me to know that I always have time everyday to take care of myself. Which is handy because I’m coming back to work tomorrow and So your video is right on point 😍 (Also thumbs up for the Koya pen :3)
Love listening to your podcast and I have made it a ritual to sit down with some tea and just listen. Use to put it on and listen while doing other things but this is now more of a break then trying to get all the stuff done. I’ve also wanted to start reading books before bed. I just finished Good Morning, I Love You by Shauna Shapiro. Really enjoyed it. Any good mindfulness or self care/compassion book recommendations?
Lmao omg I accidentally go to the calculator instead of my alarm / vice versa when I meant to go the other app in actuality! I never knew someone else struggles with this 😂😂😂 so glad you kept that in!!!
love the Charles Duhigg reference. Currently reading his productivity book and reborrowed the Power of Habit book to reread. He is the "master of the life hack".
Congrats on setting apart an hour in the morning for your spiritual practice. Last year in the spring, I started waking up 30 minutes earlier and made prayer my first non-negotiable of the day. It was a big deal because I am a night owl and have to be at work for 7:25 AM. But I did it. I need it. I take a lot longer on Saturday and Sunday because I have the time. Now if I could just master a good evening routine and go to bed at a sane time, I could add the extra 30 minutes I wish I had; an hour per morning would allow me to go deeper into what is most important for me. It also makes me a more confident and a kinder person for the rest of the day. Progress, not perfection is a real thing. Glad we are both making progress. Thank you for the inspiration. My after-work time needs help, haha.
I'm also trying to make it a habit to practice my Mandarin so it doesn't get too rusty. I'd love to see a video on how you're re-learning Chinese like what resources you find helpful, tips for learning, etc!!
“99% of the harm is caused in your head, by you and your thoughts. 1% of the harm is caused by reality, what actually happens and the outcome. Most of the time, the problem isn’t the problem. The way you think about the problem is.”
Mine is eating more mindfully! I usually put on a RU-vid video and basically inhale my food. With mindful eating, I get to appreciate the food I eat and feel more full/satisfied (which lessens unnecessary snacking and indigestion lol). It may seem weird at first since meal times are often viewed as downtimes so we need to "maximize" it by multitasking, but it's nice to view it more as nourishing myself and giving myself more energy for the day :)
I always put self care off because I always felt like I dint deserve it I'm not worthy of it and I've done wrong and until every little thing I did wrong was made right I couldn't bare to look at my self
After a long while, this video this specific video really helped me boost up my confidence in making my life better not for anyone else but for me haven't felt this kind of motivation since I started working T.T
Loved the video! I realized I like meal prepping for the week on Sundays. I like the act of cooking and I listen to music to loosen up knowing I'm going to have a nice week full of healthy meals and one less thing to think about. ^^
I remember when my life kind of look liké tours, routines, journaling and self Care. Now that I have a baby ( absolute love of my life) I wake up at 5 and I don't remember what it means to be alone lol. I have to try... Thanks 😉
Hey, Rowena. I am sorry to post this under your video but I want to say this. I am your Ukrainian viewer and I absolutely adore the videos that you're posting. As you may be aware Russia has invaded my sovereign and native country, thousands of people were killed, and civilians are dying from bomb strikes. Civilian people in Bucha and Irpin die from bullets shot into their hearts by Russian soldiers. People in Mariupol die from hunger and dehydration caused by Russian blockade. I beg you to stand with the people of Ukraine to support and protect innocent victims that are now suffering and fighting for their life. Millions of refugees are running away from aggression and this absolutely unfair war that has struck our country. Ukrainians would be grateful for any support either informational (such as making videos on this topic) or financial (donating to help our country, provide humanitatian aid or support refugees). Thank you for being you. With love & gratitude from Ukraine ❤🇺🇦
This is so helpful. A lot of these videos can be overwhelming, making people feel like it's unachievable to have a good self-care routine. Thank you for sharing what works for you.
I totally resonate with this video 💜 I designed my 2022 resolutions to be all ‘small’ and achievable, but most importantly they bring a clear tangible improvement to my daily life. A few of them here: 1. Prepare my wardrobe and bag for the next day the night before. 2. Consume videos on alternate devices apart from my mobile phone. 3. Avoid caffeine on days that I don’t have to work.
I really hope you see this... number one your shot showing you neck "wrinkles" whiles laying in bed helped me humanize myself... thank you number two showing your freckles for the first time I can remember since watiching you (over two years) thank you they are beautiful and i have them too I love yours soo much! You are an insiration and amazing!
I have been looking for podcasts and wasn't able to find anything so I came to RU-vid see your video and I was gonna comment you should do a podcast (I like your topics and voice) and just at the end of this video you say you have one. What have I been missing!!!😂
Thank you so much for your videos! Your videos have helped me come a long way and I have learnt so so much from your stories and values you shared. I really appreciate the content you create!
Thank you ro!❤ You always hit all the right spot. So happy whenever I watch your videos. Grateful for you, ro, especially for the creativity, wisdom, and the hard work that you do in creating this video.
