The automatic needle threader changed my life!!! 😍

Mine too. I'd got to the stage I was having to take the needle out, thread it while wearing two pairs of reading glasses, and trying to put it back in without it coming unthreaded again! c x

I have just been bought this for a very big birthday later in the year. I am a beginner and my eyesight is odd to say the least but the magnifying lenses have made everything so much easier and one of the main reasons I chose the machine. Fantastic machine and easy to use for a beginner but offers the chance of so much more when I become more experienced . Would recommend this machine . Excellent

Hey. I’m looking for an upgrade on my current machine. But I’m torn between the janome DKS100 or DKS30. I don’t think I’ll be using all those stitches in the DKS100 but then there isn’t much price difference between the 2?

If there's not much difference in the price then I'd go for more stitch options. You never know when you *might* want them! c x

Hi Corinne, do the letters have to be done individually or can you input several letters at once for it to stitch a name out all at once? Love your videos, thanks, Jo
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel Год назад
I think you have to do them separately but there is a memory function that I've yet to explore. I'm sure if I actually *read* the extensive manual instead of winging it there would be a lot more that the machine could do😆 c x
@nicolanewington1798
@nicolanewington1798 Год назад
You can program a name using the memory function. I have a QDC that's slightly lower down the food chain and mine does that.

@@nicolanewington1798 Oh you're a star! Thank you. Had a feeling it probably would but didn't want to say without having done it myself 😉 c x

I’ve programmed names and dates to add to a wedding present quilt and yes you can save them to the memory

I also use the overlocking stitch when my overlocker is out of order

Hi Corrine, can you save a pattern or a name if you want to use it later, can’t find anything in the manual
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel Год назад
I'm sure you can as there's a memory button on the display but, despite using the machine pretty much every day, I still haven't had the time to explore this... c x

Ok Val, I've had a look online and it appears that if you select your pattern or letter and then press the memory key, and then select your next thing and press the memory key etc, and then start sewing, the machine will automatically sew what you've stored in that order. Please try this first on scrap material before you potentially ruin your work because I'm totally wrong... 😆 c x
@valrose6380
@valrose6380 Год назад
@@TheCraftsChannel thank you I have done that but I don’t think it stores it for another time
@TheCraftsChannel

@@valrose6380 Oh sorry, I get what you mean now. I'm afraid I don't know the answer except to write down the stitch pattern numbers you like next to the stitch itself on a scrap fabric sampler, c x

Corrine …how are you ? My 30 year old singer sewing machine broke…I used it two years when my toddler was two…parked it after second child came. No time . Dusted it off in 2020 when Covid arrived , been sewing these two years. I of course did not remember much about sewing machine since I was Always a beginner, never got good enough. I think I busted my machine due to ignorance… 😕 Can’t find parts…gear gone. Tension on bobbin busted . Now , it’s a boat anchor ….LOL. I bought a heavy duty singer model 4452 on sale, 30% off , after discount $196. Then I went into a fabric shop, lady said no , no Singer . You will regret it . She showed me Juki , manual one, not computerized cause I am like you ! Not another thing to figure out ! Please my laptop gives me enough stress. Juki manual machine is $399. Juki warranty is 5 yrs , singer is 25 years . That’s is what sold me and the fact it ‘s motor is 60% more powerful than average machines. I didn’t want to struggle sewing layers of denim or canvas . So I am now second guessing my purchase of the singer …. If you were me …. I am Still a beginner , would you buy Juki or heavy duty singer? $399 vs $196. Regular price on Singer was $280. I do not have space for two machines, nor do I sew all the time. I am not sewing clothes yet …maybe in two years I may. I mostly craft and repair , hem jeans . Your thoughts ? I greatly appreciate your recommendation. Thank you 🙏🏻.

Hi Berniece, my first ever machine as a teenager was a Singer as we had a dealership nearby. It lasted me a good few years but I've a feeling I burnt the motor out. I got a manual Janome in my mid 20's and it went on for decades till I broke it by never knowing you could take the base off and clean all the lint off the gears. Boyfriend tried to fix it but it ended up just going in reverse all the time! Got another manual Janome and also picked up one for my daughter from ebay for about £40 and a drive to Norfolk, then got this one from Janome after much persuasion and I love it. I do have a Juki sitting in my hall waiting for me to try it out but I've heard good things about this brand also. Any domestic machine should be able to sew through two or three layers of denim provided the needle is sharp and thicker than normal. Have a look and see if there are any secondhand machines up for sale in your area and go for a machine that has a heavy body that is less likely to get damaged or bent out of true. I have dropped Janomes off tables (don't ask, I'm a bit of an idiot sometimes!) and they've worked perfectly afterwards 😆 I did look at a review for your Singer and it seems the 25 years warranty is purely for the body of the machine, not the moving parts so that might be worth checking, if other machines give you a longer overall warranty it might be worth the extra cost. Go with what you can afford, if you're not going to be sewing frequently there is not point spending more, c x

Thank you Corrine for a thoughtful answer !! Greatly appreciate your insight ! I think I will stay with Singer until I am more proficient and sewing more often . When I retire I will have more time and if my sewing activities pick up by 50% more then I can make the investment in a premium machine. Then I keep the SINGER to teach my grandchildren to sew …LOL or maybe teach my daughters in law to sew . It’s great that you started sewing as a teen …it’s a great skill to have. Your experience is very deep , lots of knowledge to share with us. Again , thank you for your counsel!
