While padwork takes a back seat in most Savate training there are nevertheless important things you can learn from its stylings. At least the way I've taught and been taught means you need to make your partner defend, not just attack. Fighting ebbs and flows, you can never expect to be wholly offensive, so work that even when you're on the pads. Give organic reasonable feeds, but also return offense. This makes for not only a great way to train distance and timing, but also an easy route to prepare people for partner drilling and sparring.
