Learn how to make a table saw sled aka crosscut sled with a stop block.
Thanks to Woodcraft for sponsoring this video!
Get the PLANS HERE: fixthisbuildth...
Making a table saw sled or crosscut sled lets you get safe, repeatable, accurate cuts with your saw. My old table saw sled was worn out and didn’t have a integrated stop block. So I made a new one with a sliding stop block and some nice little features. I’ll also show you how to square your cross cut sled using a simplified version of the 5 cut method that doesn’t require all the math. #woodworking #tablesawsled #crosscutsled

Just a tip that came to me while building this sled... In order to assist with "squaring" the back fence with the blade, place a couple LARGE flat washers (spread out as far as possible) in the initial saw cut and butt your square up against these flat washers that are sticking up out of the initial saw cut. Then squaring the back fence is actually pretty precise.

Would this be any different than raising the blade and using the square against it?

I was making some fixtures for my french cleat wall. I was cutting small squares on my table saw. I got really bad kick back, the piece of wood flew across my shop and punctured a huge crack in a can of CA glue activator, spraying all over the place. So, now I'm here! Thank you for the simple functional design and video. This will be my project for the day.

Brad! First time long time here. First off, really great videos. I’ll be buying some of your plans to get my tools organized in my garage and a few of the tables when I get back home from deployment. 3 1/2 weeks to go. Now, Im not looking to intentionally embarrass you here or act like I know more about woodworking but I’ve built a few birdhouses. As a semi-pro weekend woodpecker, I don’t often leave comments on videos but you seem to have a respectable number of viewers and when I see someone like yourself making blatant woodworking errors in a video, I feel I have an obligation to speak up. I know it probably wasn’t intentional, however..... that was a ‘88 Topps baseball card you used as a shim, not a ‘87. Hopefully the error you made hasn’t caused a lot of your subscribers to have to start over, but ya just never know. I hope the damage was minimal cause you don’t want to lose Jet as a sponsor. If Chicago Machinery sponsors your next video we’ll know. All joking aside though, great videos and looking forward to future ones. Take care brother. Matt

The five cut method is not difficult, but the math can be confusing. Watch a few of the videos that explain it and maybe one of the other explanations will make sense to you. Sadly, it’s the best table saw I’ve had in my limited woodworking attempts. It is able to cut up to 30 inches. Do you think this sled would work for me? I’m hoping to make the portable miter saw table at some point, but, this will have to do for now.

very nice, I just got my Dad's old table saw, it's not very big, only a table top one but I'll use your design and just make it a bit smaller.

... good video but mid-roll ads ruin the content flow 😡 this video earns a 'thumbs down'... 👎

nice vid... a bit over bearing with mentioning brands of every damn tool you have in sight.. along with a "link where i can go get one of my own!".. i mean, i get you need to make a living.. but damn, moderation.

The introductory RU-vid ad stopped me from watching your video.

I was gifted a table saw and it only has one miter slot. I would love to buy a new one but not in the cards right now… could I build something like this with only one runner on the bottom? If not Maybe make it wide enough that the other “runner” runs along the outside of the saw table?

What kind of clamps you used to hold that price of wood against the fence? Looks like a C clamp but I couldn’t find one with a handle
