I have a huge fear of mice because they scurry and move so fast. You can never predict what they will do or where they will end up next, and that fact scares me. I always fear that I will be sleeping one night and a mice or a rat will end up on my face.
You know something? I also freak out due to their speed, but you know how I overcome fears, even tho I fear? I scream and do warface, which makes me stand on my ground still.
I'm petrified of mice even my mom is afraid of them. Whenever we see one we freak out. I think it's because of their tails and how fast they are. When I see them in films they don't bother me at all,but if I see one in real life I freak out.
I feel sorry.....I really do. My sister Used to hear them at night scuttling about in her pot pourri....which was on her window ledge in her bedroom. When she decided to decorate her bedroom and buy a new bed....she found that they had a nest in her mattress,so she had been lying on them. I swear to god it gave me the jitters. But I suggest covering your air bricks with a metal mesh and glue them on as they can get in through air bricks. One came through mine once so I set the dog on it . My dog killed it.You can buy them from Amazon. Lay some traps where you think you saw it. Box traps are good put next to a wall. They will run straight in.
I have what I feel is an unreasonable fear of mice. Recently saw one in my kitchen and I almost passed out. I’ve not been the same. Crying hyperventilating every time I think about it. 😢
I haven't lived peacefully since I saw that mouse. I got a company to come by and they came and put some traps I have rented a hotel not to stay here. This is an awful feeling!
Grew up in mountains I would hear them stay up all night throwing things around my room also was instilled in us early that haunta virus would kill us and so happened to live in that region with mice around lived in fear
I don't really remember when I started developing this abnormal fear of Rats. Everytime they're near I sweat a lot, my heart is pounding so fast like almost having a heart attack. And I'm the only one in the family who's abnormally scared of rats. I know rats (pet rats/mice) are pretty gentle. But I just can't help it. I even cry once when my friend tried to scare me with a little bird whose color is brown so I thought it was a rat. By the way I'm a man so it's kinda funny for others. They say it's just a Rat but for me it isn't just a rat. I would even dare facing a cockroach or snake but rats will definitely make me back out.😥
Sorry to hear that. Your reactions are all very usual when experiencing a phobic response. The good news is that addressing the origin of your fear and collecting contra positive evidence to the belief you created at that time, you can overcome this. Hope our films here help too.
Your not alone bro I would probably cried or freaked out in some way maybe pass out I don't know. I've cried out of the frustration of it, I know they cant hurt me it makes no since I hate it Ill defeat this fear one day some how.
I am absolutely petrified of mice. And this video is truly helpful. While i doubt im cured i felt everything you guys said. im scared of the way they scurry and how they look. And i never once stopped to think that they run fast out of fear, or that thy are hungry and desperate and tiny which puts them at a disadvantage. i mean who would've thought. you definitely humanized them for me which i think is a beautiful thing seeing as they are God's creation. I had a mouse run over my feet at 3am and squeeze it’s freaky liquid body under my bathroom door… I just moved into a home and I can hear them scrounging in my closet… and scraping the walls. I literally am paralyzed of fear! I shake and cry!
My phobia stems from the fact that they spread the bubonic plague,. i read about the black death, when i was a kid & now i'm petrified of rodents, even when i see a dead one. There's something also about how they look, shakes the core of me. It's been an embarrassing fear. 😄
My colleague was bitten by a rat in his house! He had to go to hospital and get injections. My issues with mice started when we had lots in a previous flat, coming in and invading my space. It's the uncertainty I really have an issue with, not knowing when they're going to spring out. It's the same reason I have a bit of a fear of balloons- never knowing when they're going to pop. I scream when they do. I also feel like mice and rats are dirty and having them crawl all over the house would be horrendous.
I think my fear is just like yours the invading of my space, not knowing when they are going to spring out and I feel like you they are dirty and having them crawl all over my house is horrible. Balloon don't bother me but I understand that feeling your describing.
I don't know if these people are English, but my sister said when she visited London that English people see mice as normal in homes and cockroaches as horrific and really disgusting while in the USA it is the other way around.

I can't figure out why I became so terrified of mice, rats, and gophers. It happened as an adult and overnight. It is totally irrational. When I get one in my house it dominates my every thought until I can somehow get rid of it. I'm dealing with that now and can't even sleep well. I will try your suggestions and hope for the best.
It makes sense that humans are repulsed by wild rodents when they invade our living space. They can spread disease to humans and can get into our food and leave droppings with harmful bacteria around. I had a crappy landlord and had to live with mice for a few years and it was awful to feel like I couldn't just put a cereal box or pasta in the cupboard without transferring the contents to some mouse-proof container. They chewed through all kinds of things, it was awful. I found the suggestions in this video borderline insulting. What has helped me was empowering myself with information about how they were getting in and getting help from someone who is not phobic and can stay calm around them to help me close off openings. The same non-phobic friend helped me set and then check humane traps - I was able to tolerate getting a bit of exposure therapy to the actual species that was getting in, and to see them confined and not free to scurry through my stuff. This helped me replace my fear with first-hand data - not some nonsense about Mickey Mouse. Finding some way to feel less out of control by taking doable and reasonable actions makes a lot more sense than lying to ourselves that they are harmless - they're not, which is why so many humans are pre-disposed to have a healthy avoidance and fear for them - though it is important to know that a healthy fear/respect is way different than a phobia, which is why I keep working on it. I've been dealing with the same problem and it makes me lose sleep at night. I won't be able to sleep completely well at night until I make sure there's no more rats running around in my household.
I gained my fear after I could hear them in my room and I saw one after i shined a light, it was terrifying I didn’t sleep for days (I live right next to a meadow and I live in an old building so it’s kinda inevitable )

I’m a huge guy… I come from a family of boxers and I was a fighter myself. People always found it hilarious that I was scared of mice and rats. Truth is I have to unfortunately blame my mom who shoved this fear down my throat. Same with the fear of amusement park rides. I got over the fear of rides when my brother forced me onto a roller coaster am I’m so happy he did. This video is so spot on. Mice 🐁 are absolutely terrified of us. Think about it. If they were they would stroll instead of dash. 😉
My family grew up around the ring too..Not boxers but promoters (grandfather) and my macho father was disgusted and horrified by rats. Mice made him angry and he would get mad at me for leaving the door open. He hated them. I think seeing such a powerful man be repulsed by rodents made me scared too.
Not really, I think it’s just Defense mechanism, some people have higher survival instincts than others , it may be irrational but it’s still related with the need to be safe

Well rats came out of some tarp and the neighbor just stomped on them with his boots like Mr Outdoors Man while my father was terrified and disgusted. I remember exactly why I'm scared of mice, it's because my dad when I was younger he used to say "watch out for the rats" and i was so scared and i still am.

But what was interesting to me was that when the exterminator came around he had no worry in coming in contact with mice poop meanwhile I was petrified for him. I was robbed by a mouse yesterday. It jumped out of my box of cereal. I’m terrified of the things. Not only did it take my cereal it took my house because I ran out. I hate this time of year

I'm literally afraid of everything. I'm terrified of rats, lizards, spiders, cockroaches, bugs, worms, insects, chickens and ducks. When one of them gets inside my room, I would never sleep unless they be taken out. Earlier, a big rat just sprung out of nowhere and I was so mad and scared, I cried.
What I hate most about mice is their tails ,more than the mice themselves......they just seem so slimy and unhygienic. At times when I step on either a charger cord or a long narrow spongy tube I assume it's a rat's which leads to an impulsive reaction. I have this fear that one day they may get accidentally lodged in my mouth.

I have had those plug-in (Bell & Howell) for putting out this sound, that they hate, and will keep them from coming into your house. I have them plugged in on every floor of the house.I have had these for 22 years, changing them as required, to keep them working. In November of last year, for the first time, I seen a mouse. Then I kept seeing them all over the house. Every week, I packed a bag, (when my husband had to work), and stayed with my Sister. I was an absolute mess, I could not stay in my house alone. We have since contacted a Professional for deterrence. I am "STILL" terrified/petrified, no matter what. I still can't open my closet door, seen one coming down the wall, still can't go downstairs, seen one jumping down the stairs when I opened the basement door. Seen two in the kitchen. I have to pray on this, but, my fear is REAL. I am back home permanently but, scared to death, that I will see another mouse. People say they are more afraid of you then you are of them, WRONG, this is the only REAL PHOBIA I have had, all my life. Pray for me and I will do the same for people, that have not overcome this fear. Does anyone know of any books I can buy, to help with this?
I gained my phobia when I was young and it happened once that I catched one by my bare hands it was small so I thought it wasn't gonna be that bad until I did I suddenly froze and after me holding it for seconds I realized what I did and I let it go and kept looking at my hands and I thought at that time how it was disgusting and I started screaming in disbelief after that I couldn't bear looking at them in case it was alive or not and my whole body would be shaking but before all of that I wasn't that scared of them now I can't even bear looking at their pictures

Hope our tips in this film help as no one is born with a fear of rodents. This fear is acquired most often in childhood. Once you know the start you can start challenging the belief you created back then more positively to cut the rodents a little slack as they have no feelings of malice to you in anyway. I had 3 in my house last winter. I was almost crying to my psychiatrist about it. I am not cry baby when bad things happen to me and I'm kind of tough in way, but mice in the house is something else. My psychiatrist said he fears them too. Those things even petrified and disgusted my macho dad
There must be a reason why most of people fear them, we need to check it out. Because I can see a snake and watch it but a rat not even in a movie, it's just freaks me out

Honestly, I do NOT fear mice, but I live in Wisconsin and it gets Siberian frigid up here. Every winter, a mouse comes into my home and we have to coexist. I'm not dirty or anything, but I live in a swamp and mice have to winter inside. My problem is, they are so SNEAKY! They just dart about in the corner of your eye and you can't help but go, "EuGGGH!" and they squeak and run away. One time, a little bugger was on its haunches and waving its little hands to get my attention and I hollered out of instinct. Really, I felt so terrible. I left it out some cheese and pretzels and the plate was empty in the morning. Again, it tried to gain my attention and I did the same thing over. I simply haven't the time to contain my reactions.

What you describe is all still normal phobic symptoms. The tips still apply, but also considering how the phobia started and challenging the original memory. Also consider, that not every human is attractive to you, but wold you judge them so harshly just for appearance? Because they have ugly hands or feet in your eyes etc? It’s considering things such as this when we suggest ‘challenging’. Hope that helps to offer a little more insight.

I've lost 2 jobs because of this. I pass out when confronted with one. I don't say the word and can't even see a picture. Of one. I can't see dead ones or alive ones. It has held me back in life and I avoid them at all costs. I know it's really ridiculous they have never hurt me and I know they don't ever do anything yet I cry , heart and blood pressure goes so high I worry about a heart attack or stroke. I want help so bad but I make so little.
Hi I need help, I don't know what to do. I am young and live in my parents' house and there are mice in my room. I am petrified of mice, and my parents aren't doing anything, so I never get sleep. This has been going on for 2 nights, and I just wish they were gone. I have tried blocking the entrance through my door, which is how they come in usually, but there is always one in my room, which makes me not sleep. I don't know what to do. Please help.
The only thing that makes mice scary for me is how fast they run. If they ran/scurried at a much slower pace I wouldn't have a semi-phobia of them at all.
Exactly for me I think it’s their movement speed. if they moved slowly I wouldn’t be scared of them at all. It’s just they move so quick that even if you blink you can miss them.
I bought a remodeled 100 year old house a year ago. I recently discovered there was a rat in the kitchen, ate banana and they are now heard in walls. I did not have a fear before, my kids even had pet mice, I even saved "pinkies" from someone who had a snake. But knowing the destruction they can do to my home and the disease possibilities and the cost of an exterminator that I am not currently able to afford and the fact that I have to trap or poison and find a way to basically reclaim my home is freaking me out. These are an invasive species, roof rats, rarely come inside but there are some holes around pipes that have allowed entry. They eat outside, typically but live inside. I do not like having to kill them, I saw one in the water heater closet when there was snow outside and it was cute. But most have an innate disgust of them because for millennia they have threatened humans by eating our food supply we stored for winter and spreading diseases like the plague. And they are harmful and bite, but unless we are in direct confrontation with them, as I now am, there is no need for fear. I'm trying to desensitize myself to go from fear/freak out catastrophic irrational thoughts (like them being in the toilet each time or tearing through the walls- both possible but unlikely, so it isn't easy to counter the irrationality). Trying to get in combat mode, Lol. But thank you, this is a helpful perspective to consider.
I had no idea that there is musophobia until i watched this vodeo. I was always terrified of mice but today was the worst. Today I was walking on the sidewalk with my one year old in my arms, when I saw this very tiny mouse. I panicked ( i usually don't panic) and ran to the street without thinking. We were lucky there was no car coming at that moment. Then i realized it's not just a fear it's more than that. I think i will die if i ever touch a mouse.
As I type this there is a rat running around my room. I can't sleep. It has traumatised me for a week now. It doesn't eat food or drink water so I can't trap it. It just eats paper. I don't know what to do. I'm soooo scared.
It has no interest in you, and absolutely no desire to hurt you in anyway. You may need to call in pest control to assist, but you needn’t fear something that has no hatred, malice or violence in its’ heart towards you or any other human. My Dad was macho and he was scared and disgusted of mice. And forget it with rats, he didn't want to think about it. I inherited his fear. Imagine a tough man (my macho dad) that walks in like a bull and people are intimidated by him and stand back but yet this man is scared of mice.
Do you have them in your home? There is nothing worse than when they are in the house. Sadly, everyone has to live with them, mice are everywhere outside. I told my psychiatrist and nurse practioner and they both fear them. They told me it's "normal." If you really want to get over it, you have to confront it. Maybe one of those sessions where they make you pet a mouse. There is a bunch of YT videos on that.
@@asturiasceltic3183 I been in my house 15 years and I have seen them 4 times and I remember every time. Just the running and darting around gives me a startle and I hate it, its more disgust than fear but the fear is there I feel it physically. I catch them throw them away the whole time I get the chills and fear. Outside wouldn't bother me in my home I hate hate hate it. I saw those videos but in a controlled in environment I wouldn't be afraid. Ill try though.
@@willywill74 Ooooh, sorry. I have had them in my house too and it is disgusting, whether you use inhumane glue traps or the snap traps. I had to have the lights on for three months until I caught all 3-4 of them. Poison is terrible if you have pets. My friend says cats help, but sometimes they don't kill the mice or they will bring it back to you half alive. My Dad said it is better to see them dead then alive when they are running around.
I rather have a venomous snake than a mice. They’re slow and I can strap a knife to a broom and stab it. Mice’s always run everywhere and in tiny holes.
@@nikandevaspeakman Wasn’t bed bugs because I don’t have those. I bet the reason they bit me was because they though there was food on my bed and found no luck, biting me instead. This has happened on multiple occasions and me waking up even has them run off my bed. The fear I have from them stems mostly from how they move so fast, their movements are so loud, and the possibility of them coming on my bed and biting me which I discovered was a decent chance of happening.
I still f*cking hate mice and I'm horrified, I'm here because I saw one literally hiding under my desk while I was just playing on my PC, and I was so shocked that a mouse was actually in my room and even house to begin with considering that my room, although not the cleanest thing on earth, there was no dirt/food or things that attract mice, meaning there were no reason for it to be there, and it was. I now have a phobia of mice and I am terrified to step foot in my room
The fact you were so upset about the mouse being there in the first place would suggest you already had some element of discomfort towards them. Consider why you fear them? What do you expect to happen? Why would you think that? What evidence do you have to believe what you do? Consider these things and watching the tips in our film should help. Good luck
I JUST STEPPED ON A LIVE RAT AND THEN BLOOD CAME OUT BUT IT WASNT DEAD UET AND STARTED CHASING ME AND NOW I LITERALLY RAN DOWN THE BLOCK AND IM SCARED TO BACK INTO MY HOUSE
I guess I'm one of the *RaRe* people to have experienced a mice infestation when I moved back home with my parents. This video would be 1000x more helpful if it helped deal with this phobia like I'm not one of the 1% of people who have actually seen mice in my home and had have to actively deal with eliminating them
@@asturiasceltic3183 things are still sucky, had to move my room around agian cause they found out how to move the mouse traps, so I have to put my bed in the middle of my room, and then they started to climb up the air conditioner cord next to my bed, to get on my bed, I have no idea why they want to get on my bed so badly(I deep cleaned it twice) but my parents keeps on denying to call an exterminator, my mental state is literally drain cause of these mices and I get paranoid by everything and I hate it. On the plus side, it's been getting better since I've been going to school
So I actually looked up on line at different phobias. I looked up phobias of pianos. And it is planophobia. Who would have ever thought that that would bee a phobia. Could you do a video on this subject one day? I am a working pianist of course, but I never knew that their is a phobia of pianos. I know that a lot of people have been traumatized by piano playing and learning the piano or something might have triggered someone from learning. But I think that this would bee a very interesting video. What is the cause of planophobia and why would that even bee something to fear. I would love to know.

But you insinuated that rats/mice get the bad reputation and are victims is incredibly naive! Rats are very aggressive and carry multitudes of diseases!! I truly wish there were “simple tips” to overcome this phobia,but when you’ve seen and heard what I have concerning rodents,you’ll realize it’s not simple at all and our fear is very justified!

When I was 3, I saw black large rats floating in a bucket in my kitchen. Now I have mice in my kitchen and I can’t go in there. I get panic attacks. I feel my blood pressure rising, nausea, weak legs. They are squatters!! You DO see them wandering down the street! I HATE Foxes too! No. You haven’t helped.
I'm here cause I have the phobia and I currently have mice in my old house rn!! I won't get off the couch! My brother has a pet mice when I was a kid and it bit my finger and hung there!! my brother seen what his mouse did and killed immediately, in front of me. So there is that.
Here’s one way to put it. There’s one good thing about having mice in your house. It means you don’t have snakes because snakes would’ve eaten the mice.
Rats are always on my bed and my dad never calls the damn exterminator only glue traps uncommonly catch one and not enough the one time he called the exterminator they were gone for a year or few months.
I did have some youth, living condition based "Trauma" I'm not terrified of them, i do think they're cute. But I'd like to not have "the willies" from close encounters anymore. Maybe a factor is that even other small creatures that don't give me the willies (frogs,guinea pigs,etc) that im not afraid of. I dislike handling them,the wriggling. It's because i don't want to squeeze too tight and hurt them..but i also don't want to hold too lose and drop /hurt them. Also, the other film is Willard. And my house is 106yrs old. Field mice are different, House mice adapted to live in human homes. I get your point
Ok so my fear comes from having GIANT wood rats as a child and my dad telling us that if we got out of bed at night they would bite our feet and watching that sewer rat movie. My dad was a twisted person he thought our fear was hilarious.
This video might have just saved my marriage as I watch for the 5th time lol . I was truly ready to pack up my things with my kids and leave bc my hubby can sleep through the night while I panic over the scratching noises I’m currently hearing from what I suspect it’s a mouse . Cats were bred to be amongst humans. Yes, there are some lovely animals that are dangerous and wild like tigers and lions that we even admire but they are not infesting our homes and spreading disease. And mice you don't know where they are some of the time.
What happens if it was a traumatic event such us I was locked in the basement with my baby by an abusive ex bf and a rat was running up to me while I had my baby in my arms and I had a co2 gun so I shot it and fell over and twitched and and got back up and charged towards me again until I shot it again.
Wow, that sounds like a movie. You cant blame the rat, you were in its territory, as for all you know it could have lived in the basement for years. It seems the rat was a frightened as you were. The real issue here is the rat that locked you in the basement for he caused the whole issue. So pleased to note he is now an ex. Well done you to you for moving on.
I think it is the surprise of seeing a live wild animal in your house running that was not there before…. And they can be destructive to home, too, though…
I had mice in the house as a kid. Old apartment with holes where they were able to get in. Hated being in that environment. We would catch a mouse on the trap and then a week later we would see another one. The best solution was when we got a cat. I’m terrified of mice and rats.
There's many huge rats in our house and I hate it so much. There's some in our kitchen, in my room, and my sister's room. Im so scared of them because they're fucking nasty and fast. My father looks at me like crazy whenever I expresd my fear of these rats.

I'm really afraid of everything. One of the fears are mice. What fear my mom passed on. I find them disgusting and not nice at all. Seeing that tail makes me want to vomit. Unfortunately, I don't find support, only mockery, which discourages me even more. They are small this that. They do multiply and are not fun. When they enter the house, it is difficult to get rid of them. I have two cats but in vain. 😂If we can get any. I hear their hissing...the cat hears a little and leaves 😂😂

Why are you so fearful? What do you expect to happen? What bad experience have you ever had to make you so fearful? These are all things to consider as if you have a phobia it is a learned behaviour and challenging the origin of your fear is the best way to address it and the tips in our film here too. Good luck.

Im scared of mice,rats, and all kinds of reptiles especially house lizards...I'm so scared that the moment I saw them I will scream and call my parents to get rid of it but my parents will just randomly say "Its just a lizard its not harmful/ its just a mice" this and that but for me thats not the case...Their speed is super fast that it gives me goosebumps and I fear them the most
If I see Jerry in my fucking room or house I'm shitting my pants like I was just playing xbox and I see a tiny little thing and I cant go back downstairs now
I’ve never met a rat personally before and of course I don’t wish to. The problem is that a had a strange dream about them and that probably caused that I’m afraid of them now. I also became obsessed with cleaning my apartment because I know if something really attracts them it’s the messy environment.
Hope the tips in our film helps. Dreams can be a cause of a phobia and when you can accept the mouse was faultless (it was the dream and not a mouse that scared you) then you can overcome your phobia. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to like them necessarily, but overcoming the phobia will stop the terror and associated anxiety.
Help there’s a mouse in my room somewhere right now 🐁 and I’m scared to see it or hear it anywhere Also true I haven’t been attacked by a rodent but they carry diseases and some blame the whole bubonic plague for this fear and rats are quite aggressive and mice will attack you if you corner it, threaten it and they (although it’s rare) can crawl on you in your sleep idk why I have this fear bc I haven’t had a traumatic experience and none of my family are scared of mice idk why it is
I have a group of pet rats. Look at my profile pic, that's one of my babies, he's holding a tiny teddy bear. And that's exactly what they are, cute little bears. My rats are my children, they're my world and I would do anything for them. Even trips to the emergency vet at night, cause unfortunally they are fragile and vunerable. While I can't imagine what fear of rats/mice could be, I appriciate people looking for ways to overcome this fear. To me, rats are tiny dogs.
