As a person with a perfectionist mindset it's so freeing to see the beauty created by being loose. I literally feel like you are helping me rewire my brain for art and for life.
My face hurts from smiling my way through your tutorials and methods...it has been a transforming experience to create art when not born with the natural talent of an artist. Just a huge world of joy with color that I never thought I could achieve. Thank you !!
I’ve just started sketching and watercolour and your videos are my ‘go-to’ for learning all the techniques and how to sketch ‘loose’. I love your style because I really like your loose style and the way you use colour. Thank you for the lessons and showing how it’s done.
Absolutely brilliant, thank you so much for another wonderful video. I have learnt so much in the short time since I discovered this channel. You make the process of learning, fun and liberating - as it should be! 💆♀️🧘♀️

I love your landscapes! Your teaching style is so warm and welcoming, and it is really giving me the hope that I too can develop a looser style. I only have one suggestion-please stop drinking instant coffee! Your world will be vastly better if you go for the real deal! HA!
Thank you so very much Toby for making some nature landscape oriented videos. Just what I asked for. If you get to the coast might we see some seascapes? You’re a star. Cheers.
0:08 just love these videos, thank you very much for sharing your talent and giving us something to aspire too, that is for a total novice like me. Keep them coming.
Hi Toby, I love your work and your tutorials. I am also a detailed painter trying to loosen up. I think I built too many Airfix models as a kid! Like a lot of beginners I use W & N paints, Can you maybe describe a good W & N palette or even a video comparing your palette with a W & N. Thanks
Great idea - I'll see if it's something I feel I have enough knowledge about. Or I'll see if I can type in another painter who uses winsor newton to help
Hi Toby, I've noticed that your hatching is very delicate and I can hear your nib scratching the surface of the paper; however, when I try to do hatching the ink comes out of my pen as thicker lines! Any tips on how to improve my hatching pls?
Maybe try moving your hand faster and flicking motion. I tend to have the opposite. My hatching ends up much lighter than I intend because I move my hand too fast.
I'm not sure if you're aware of this or maybe it's just on my side. When I click on your link to buy stuff on Jackson's website it shows me the item for about 5 seconds and then switched it to their home page. So I'm not sure if that would still give you affiliate credit if I were to buy anything. For example, I clicked on the link for half trays it shows up 5 seconds then to home page. I'm interested in buying stuff but want to make sure you get credit for it as well.
