Turning ring keepers is a great way to practice your spindle turning while making a project that is functional. These ring holders make great gifts or quick sales at craft shows. They are low cost and fast to make most of the time out of left over scraps from other turnings. I keep a bin in my shop that i toss the pieces of wood i have left over for these small projects.

Wen slow speed grinder 8” amzn.to/3D0YfK... birds mouth bowls is a great way to use all those small pieces of logs and branches. They are great practice without using expensive pieces of wood. You can literally go into your backyard and grab any decent size branch to use.
