Cool video, chaos. Nice and easy mod. But yeah, I was laughing when I saw your pliers. Bring home some cheap tools next time you visit the flea market.
I'm surprised this wasn't a standard feature for the ZX Spectrum, given its simplicity and efficiency - OK, it might have driven up the price by maybe a fraction of a euro/pound/guilder, but even in the 1980s, most people who had a TV had one that supported RCA/composite video. The RF/aerial tuning bullshit can go to retrogaming Hell.
If you are not bothered about reversing the process, you can desolder the modulator board. Then you could put the capacitor in the modulator instead of the side.
I watched your video in which you were modulating the sinclair zx spectrum 48k RF signal in composite mode. I am interested in more about the capacitator, the codecision, and where can I buy it?
Hey there Chaos, don't take so long to upload a new video please!! But don't worry at all cause each video is a clearly representation you were doing a great job. Keep it up!
A smoothing capacitor is needed in order to smooth out the fluctuating signal to make it more steady. It does, as far as I can tell, not improve image quality that much.
@@RetroGameCouch PNPHOTO don't believe him, try to find better answer. May be capacitor is needed to remove dc voltage. Try mesaure voltage before and after capacitor when zx is connected to tv set and working.
@@RetroGameCouch Ah, yes, no change then. For some reason, I thought the sound came through the TV speaker - It's ages since I last used my Spectrum computer! Thanks for the prompt reply.
