Simplest Alcohol Stove I've Ever Seen

I first saw this stove here tomsbiketrip.ki... . The simplest solutions are usually the best. This stove probably burns fuel a little too quickly, but it's so easy and fast to make. Hope you like it and I hope it's helpful.

This style of stove was the first that I learned to make .Over the years I have tried many other designs. This one has the advantages of being very simple to make, does not require a pot stand, and IMO works better than most other designs. Thanks for making the video.

Not only did I learn how to make the simplest and easiest alcohol stove I've ever seen, but I learned how to make healthier and tastier ramen! You my friend have earned yourself a subscriber. I have yet to view your other content but I have little doubt that it is of lesser quality and I expect that your future videos will equal if not surpass the quality of this video.

I'm impressed about the way you made the stove with no holes for jets and how you were able to freehand it without the use of a block razor blade setup. I'm thinking that this is an easy in the field design that works. Good show sir.

Excellent video. Many thanks. Just to add to your healthier food advice, please note that adding ginger lowers your blood pressure over time. You might want to just chew fresh ginger each day or have ginger tea with fresh ginger or dry powder ginger. It lowered mine significantly over 8 months and I am off meds now for last year and a bit.

Great video. I like the penny stove and made a few of them over the years. But it can be a bit difficult to get it right and too sensitive the the kind of alcohol used. This design look closer to the trangia. I have to try it. Also, you are absolutely right about the noodles. Keep up.

That's a sweet design man. I've been working on my own pop can stove for about a week now and really like my design but you need to help it get primed by tilting it. I used two bottoms and put a gromet in the middle of the top with 8 slits coming off the edge of the gromet and holes around the outside lip. It's also stuffed with fiberglass insulation, which i think helps prolong the flame...last night i clocked it at about 16 min/1.5 oz. with 90% isopropyl. I like how it stays at a low flame like a bunson burner until i help it, check it out. I haven't timed the low flame yet but i suspect it stays lit for hours. It could be a way to get a simmer going if needed. P.s. i love how you showed yours cooking, im going to make one like this tonight!

If you're having blood pressure issues, start eating a lot of celery. It took me one week to stabilize my blood pressure with celery. If your salary is pretty high it might take a couple of weeks. I used to have low blood pressure and I didn't like celery when I was younger. Unset my blood pressure started climbing I found that celery tasted good so the celery is something that is a natural way to help you control your blood pressure. Also, if you are near an Asian grocery, you can often find a mushroom based sauce or bras that will have a lot less sodium in it. Good luck and enjoy.

I like the simple field expedient design of your stove. I think I would have put the noodles in first then added the seasoning later after the noodles cooked a while. I do like me some strong curry! If you put the seasoning in first, the water gets flavored as it heats. Then when you add the noodles, they get infused with the flavor from the water.

Wow! I used this method to create a self-contained glue-pot, or 'glue diner', for my shop. I simply attached this stove permanently to my existing beer can glue pot...simply fill the stove, light, and deploy the glue as needed. To get the smooth edge on the top, I used a cutting wheel on my Dremel...can also use a file or rasp.

You could make a much simpler alcohol stove. Just take that empty soda pop can, pour alcohol in through the opening in the top, and then light it. That is not the best alcohol stove, but it is the simplest, and it will burn, and produce heat.

To get an even mark around the top and bottom of the can to cut on, get something (a [stack of] book[s], board, stack of CD cases, a stick/branch....anything) that's the same thickness as the height of the burner you want. Put this thing on the ground and lay your knife blade on it with the tip protruding over the edge. Set the can in the ground next to the "thing" withthe knife tip touching the side of the can. Spin the can thereby scoring a line around it. Flip the can over and repeat. You now have 2 lines scored around your can, one on top and one on bottom, nearly the same height from each relative end.

Very Nicely Done ✔✔✔. You have taught us I clear and simple to follow instructors on how to make a very reliable and efficient stove. And even one with my limited building skills can tackle. Now on a related note, on the video there are two canteen cup stoves and I have been searching for info on the larger one, in the rear, the one not used in the video. Have you made any videos with that stand? Or how do you use it? Please, any info would be much appreciated! I need a canteen cup stove stand, but want a military aluminium to cut weight compared to canteen shop making a stainless steel frame that is very heavy and slow too warm up for cooking
@BingWatcher
@BingWatcher 7 лет назад
I just found your video on the canteen cup stove and it was great
@OutdoorSoul77
@OutdoorSoul77 6 лет назад
Thanks for watching and commenting! The larger canteen stove you saw is a US Issue aluminum stove. As far as I know, these were being issued up until the military moved away from canteens and started using camelbacks. It is fully enclosed on the bottom and is meant for burning trioxane fuel tablets and setting the cup on top of the tablets. Placing the cup backwards on the stove allows it to sit just above the flame. I've found the tablets to be pretty useless for anything more than lukewarm water, but both of the stoves make perfect holders for homemade alcohol stoves to heat my canteen cup as long as they are not too tall. I'm fortunate to live near a couple of great surplus stores. I think I paid about $5 for the stove. Hope that helps. I will return to youtube one day, so keep watching!

The advantage is that the penny can stove takes time to bloom, whereas this stove blooms almost instantly. Also, recovering unused fuel after snuffing it out. It’s much easier to pour it out of this stove back into your fuel bottle than it is from a penny can stove

To make a clean, even cut, place your knife on its side with the blade at the level you want to cut. Push the can gently against the blade, and rotate it against the cutting edge. Several times around with gentle pressure will score the can deep enough that you can then tear the can apart at the score line. Voila! A nice, straight, level cut.
