Another test of the home fire alarm system featuring the Simplex 4008 and several major changes to the system. Most of these changes were made to improve the functionality of the system as well as its aesthetics, making it much more professional and closer to code. This system overhaul came out very nice and I think many of you will like the changes and improvements that were made.

hey! love the system. i love the decreased pull stations, however i'd still encourage one or two on the upper floors. nice video!

I've thought about adding a pull station at the door going out to the garage, but I don't think it's really necessary or practical to do so.

Man I gotta say, this system is one of the best setups I’ve seen! Sometimes you gotta scale back a bit to make things work, but I’m really impressed with the outcome.

Thank you! Yeah I wasn't about to flush mount pull stations on the first floor. I'd get too many false alarms that way, plus they're not really being needed on this type of system. I kept the pull station at the panel for convenience.

This and Nic's system is how I think most residential systems should be setup (less a few unique intricacies here and there). Very nice! Very well done!

I plan to keep this system pretty much as it is until I either buy my own house or my family moves out of this one. Whenever I buy my own house it will have a system similar to Nic's with full coverage in the house, likely with new equipment as well. Thank you for the kind words!

@stampynate007 I bought the 4008 panel on this system years ago from someone I went to school with who used to be interested in fire alarms as well. In general fire alarm panels can be found on eBay or similar sites in the $200-$1000 range most of the time.

I do like the changes from having a wall mounted device on the ceiling, because the ceiling version is the 4906-9130.

Those ceiling mount truealerts looked terrible on my system so I just stuck with wall ones.

Probably would be a good idea to have a remote annunciator on the system. I would put it near a security keypad if one exists or by a common entryway. Makes sense to have one in case the alarm falsely goes off.

I've thought about that but it's highly unlikely that I will install an annunciator on this system since they are so bulky and there isn't really a practical place for me to put one. Besides for this system it isn't really necessary for there to be an annunciator.

My hotel I stay in had true alerts and it looks like the rooms had a smoke detector with a opening for the sound device. I'm kinda surprised they don't put remote strobes in hotel rooms. My high school had strobes in the classrooms.

I believe that’s because if a fire happens while people are sleeping, you will need sound to wake you up. In school, you can’t sleep without expecting your teacher to yell at you to wake up. In the end, it would just depend on if the room is used for sleeping or not.

I may be crazy but I swear it sounds like the first buzz from code 3 is slightly longer then the others. Also hello from south central kansas!!

You would be correct there. One of the quirks of smartsync on the newer 4906 series Truealerts is that the first pulse of code 3 is a little bit longer. It helps keep large numbers of horns in sync with each other.

My room is the only room with any devices in it. If I put anything in the other rooms I would do smokes with sounder bases. Other than that the system is plenty loud throughout the rest of the house.

I was wanting to know how do you make those little white labels that go on the pull stations? I would like to do that with mine. I’m talking about the little white label that is stuck to each pull station and has it’s address point on it.

I have a 4008 as well but it has a NAC 1 short that is not going away are there any boards floating around?

You can always look around on eBay but for the time being you could just use nac 2 on yours.
