Thanks for the tutorial. I snagged this pattern and am ready to try it. I love the color of your fabric, I'm going to try it with polka dots like on the front of the pattern.
Thank you for this beautiful and in depth video I just bought this pattern Friday and I must say I’m ready to go ahead and knock out the top and the skirt Thank You Mimi G !!! 💛💛💛💛
Mimi, when inserting the zipper on knits do you use a straight stitch or a stretch stitch for knit fabrics? I’m new to sewing garments so wanting to ask to make sure I’m doing this correctly. Thank you for your help
@@MimiGStyleshow I'm thinking it's not necessary because stretch fabrics don't fry? But aesthetically serged seams do look nice and professional looking.
So cute! Did you have any trouble sewing over the metal zipper? Do you have any tips for that? Or maybe it just looks like metal. Thanks for a wonderful tutorial!
Janet Johnson Slow the play back speed. Makes it easier to see.........You can see that the tiny piece of fabric [ where it was clipped] she is stitching down extends a tad below zipper stopper. Also using the zipper foot allows for the zipper NOT to get caught while sewing!😊
Z'Nycé London Thanks for the suggestion. I noticed that too. My question was referring to the last step of the collar being stitched on. At both the very beginning and the very end of this seam/topstitch section, the top ends of the zipper teeth have to be sewn over and enclosed in the seam allowance. Maybe it’s not too difficult since the zipper is open and you’re only sewing through one side of it at the beginning of the seam, and the other side of it at the end of the seam.
Hey Mimi, love all your patterns😃 I was wondering if you could just use a serger to sew the whole garment if you are using a knit fabric. The zipper would be sewn with a sewing machine of course. What seam allowance would you use?
Mimi would you consider doing a tutorial for one of simplicity's costume patterns? I would really love to learn how to make the costumes but can't find any good tutorials to help me. :(
Happy to see your patterns don’t make the fabric store often and this old lady resists on line shopping butttttttt that may alter soon . Ohhhhh alter is that a sewing term. Indeed so sew on profitably 👌🏾💕🌷👼🏿🙍🏽🦹🏾♂️
Mimi G, you make it look so easy. I hope i am able to get to that point as well. With both sew alongs I am going to buy the pattern and follow along. Thank you for sharing!
Love the tutorial, thankyou! Mimi, can you show the pattern design before starting the vid? And how do you find the patterns, is there an online catalogue (coz I can't find it)? XX
