Love the idea of using a men’s thrifted shirt to make the top. I have quite a few thrifted men’s XXL shirts because I loved the fabric, so I’m definitely going to do this, too (didn’t have a plan until now!). Thank you!
I'm so glad I found your channel! We have a similar aesthetic, so it's nice to see a sewist who doesn't always lean towards overly boxy silhouettes. I'm absolutely going to be picking up almost all of the patterns you mentioned! I've passed on the McCalls M7116 and M7946, and Simplicity S9326 almost every time. Sometimes the pattern envelopes just don't wow me and I need to really look at the line drawings to see the potential because you really opened my eyes!
I always love your plans, thanks for sharing! It’s funny I’ve had knowme 2016 in my stash for a while but I’ve been avoiding bc it has a lining. Did you find it tough to make bc of that?
I say ‘yes’to S9239. It is quite versatile. I’ve made two- one in embroidered lightweight linen , the other in traditional blue denim. Both unique, you would not guess they are from the same pattern.
I haven’t been sewing long but attempted the first pattern you showed,I’m stuck on attatching the collar so I’d love a sew along so I can actually finish it 🤦🏻♀️
I have started N6743 and unfortunately because I'm not very experienced sewer I had to put it to the side, became I couldn't work out neckline. I was waiting for sew along, so it would bo soo great if you could film it! 😊😊😊
Please could you show how you substitute a zip for shirring? They are much more comfy so would be great. Thank you ❤ I have a ticket for the stitch festival too. My first time so very excited. Xx
Hiya! Your wish is my command 😆 my last two vlogs have tutorials for this, one is a regular shirred back panel and the other is a 'faux shirred' back panel which uses elastic channels for a similar look. Hope they're helpful ❤️
Oh brilliant! I'm behind on my You Tube watching due to work deadlines but I'm looking forward to watching this this weekend. Thanks so much for your videos and your time, especially in such a busy year for you ❤
Love the video and the suggestions. As a begginer-ish sewer, I like seeing the inspo pics paired with the patterns. When I'm looking at patterns I have a hard time picturing all the possibilities that can come from one pattern. I will definitely be purchasing and making some of these for spring. ☺🌷🌼🌻
Hi Gina, I love the look of the ME2016, I have checked the sizing and I think I fall between the 16 & 18 (the printed patterns come in 8-16 & 10-26. Any advice on which size to go for? (I'm b41 w34 h41) . Thank you
Hiya, sorry for the late reply! If you're unsure I would toile first but a lot of people I know who've made the pattern have said it's roomy. I'm personally going to size down when I make mine so it's more fitted so you may be better off going for the 16 🥰
Very much enjoy your RU-vid videos. Great information on fabric and sewing details. The diagrams on the back of the pattern envelope are very important. Please show those up close for several moments. Thank you.
Hi! I just found your channel. Love it! Your dress makes are beautiful! I’m almost finished with the Simplicity 8875 dress pattern. That dress would look good on you!
Beware the huge cuff/ sleeve opening on that pink Simplicity jacket! That was the only thing I didn’t like about the jacket. If I ever make it again I will narrow the sleeve and cuff width. I’m serious, 4 adult arms could fit in there!
I made the last Simplicity jacket out of a wide wale mustard cordroy which is a thicker fabric. I think a quilted fabric would work great. It is a generous boxy fit so great for layering sweaters under on cooler days.
Please note that the Simplicity patterens has the size for the pattern in the front. So S9606 Blouse says size 6-14 on the front that you show us. It is very confusing that the pattern says something else on the back
Hiya! So to help clear this one up and the reason I've mentioned the full range of sizes is because Simplicity does their sizing in different envelopes. Usually it's two separate envelopes for example size 6-16 and then size 16 to 26 (it varies depending on the size the pattern comes in). The full range of sizes on the back shows all sizes across all envelopes to help you choose the envelope you need. Hope this helps 😊
