so smart to paint many rectangles at a time! that way it feels less precious and more relaxed and you dont need to push all ideas into one painting.

I LOVE how you playfuly executed these miniature paintings I usually do some things that you mentioned but not all, having learnt a thing or two here I must confess that I love your palette, because every colour came together these are so fun and beautiful❤.

Thank you so much. I love how you build abstraction by letting creativity flow! Also how you vary materials and techniques and just ‘go with it.’ So different from having a set outcome in mind.

Good advice, every time I want to try abstract landscape I always end up with something realistic. Mange tak Marie Louise.

Nice loosening exercises, and good for using as under paintings to even looser or more semi abstract paintings. I haven't done underpainting in a while and this is great inspiration! Thank you, Marie Louise. I'm glad you're feeling better :)

I can’t wait for part 2! I appreciate the disciple and practice of limiting your palette. Too often a new student will buy 50 colors and add them straight from the tube and wonder why there is little connection in their painting.

What a great exercise. I was amazed at how simply adding some pencil marks made each frame come to life. Thank you for sharing this technique. 🥰

Stort tack! 🙏 Bästa hälsningar! Christer (nickname på RU-vid=bDouglas)

I love this video! You hit all the points I’ve been working on and thinking of working on. Specifically applicators. I have several unconventional brushes that I absolutely love using. My favorite, is an old Hienz 57 barbecue brush. I use plumber’s brushes that are used for applying dope to pipes and have some sponges I like. I’m going to work on some huge projects next spring and I have already imagined using a snow removal brush after it’s been all worn out from winter this season. As always, great to see and hear your videos. Tak!

How cool Ed, that’s wonderful! I’ve been thinking about trying to make some homemade “broom” type brushes to use for very large paintings. Now you have me thinking about snow removal in a brand new way 😁 Always looking for new ideas right?! 👌

Marie, I just found your channel! Whatever we can call it, I was looking for more info about abstract painting to finish one. Just wasn’t sure about it. Your video came in at the right time! Thanks so much and I’m subscribing to your channel. I do paint in oils and occasionally in acrylics. Great exercises and will for sure try them. I have always wanted to visit Denmark, it is fascinating. Blessings and take care. Greetings from Champaign, Illinois, USA ❤❤❤

Hello Painters, Sorry for my voice this week, I'm still dealing with a bit of lingering sore thought after my recent bout with the flu. Getting out of your comfort zone can be a bit scary at first but you will quickly get the hang of this. Practice your painting skills using acrylic paint, learn the pitt falls and you will se results fast. This video will show you the fastet (and most fun) way to simplify your painting and loosen up your painting style. The techniques in the video can be used with acrylic paint and also mixed media. You can even try and adopt them to use with oils and watercolors. You can do this! I believe in you! Have a lovely Sunday! 🌍🌎🌏

I really look forward to these wonderful tutorials. Full of hints and tips. I don't know if you realize just how useful they are to those of us who have tbe love for art but perhaps are lacking in technique. Perhaps you do actually realize their value, and that's why you do them. Either way, please keep doing them. I'm reminded of the quote by Chuck Close who said: " Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work." I suppose there's a real value and goal in the process of "playing around." Anyway, thank you again for thinking about your viewing audience. It's very much appreciated. 👍 By tbe way, you should check out the work of the English landscape artist, Lewis Noble. He's got a very free, playful yet purposeful approach to his landscapes that you might like to check out on RU-vid.

Lovely to watch you work as always. I find using white masking tape stops me working within the boundaries. Also I make marks right across the full sheet and over the tape. Perhaps that’s too abstract for your needs but it can produce some nice happy accidents and you can use even bigger brushes! Thanks you for the video, Jill 🇬🇧
