One of the best ways to catch bass during the summer is by fishing offshore structure. However, offshore fishing can seem complicated at times. These 3 easy steps should make it less complicated!

The first thing that I do to locate summertime offshore bass is map study, I always try and find pieces of cover that are close to river channels and creek channels. Bass could be anywhere offshore but it seems as though they LIVE near these old creek channels.
Step 2 is the hard part, and that is graphing, Although this may seem difficult, it really just requires time. You can eliminate time by doing more map study before you get to the lake. One of the biggest parts of graphing is establishing what BASS look like on your graph. As Jacob Wheeler says, you are looking for turtles on a log.
Once you find the fish, its time to start catching them. I really like to employ a 3 pronged approach when it comes to selecting my lure. I like something fast (Crankbait), something slow (big worm or jig) and something Finesse (Drop shot). If they don't bite one of those three things, then there is either 0 bass there or they are simply not active and you should come back some other time.
BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

Tyler, this is your best video to date. I'll graph around offshore sometimes for an hour or 2 before lines in and it drives my fishing buddies crazy. Ive tried explaining to them why it's necessary, but now I can just play this video for them

Very comprehensive brief video on keeping it simple for offshore fishing!!! You are soooo right about the research aspect of preparing to fish. I have the Navionics app on my phone and on my laptop and am ALWAYS “pinning” potential spots to graph over, definitely makes it easier and saves time on the water. Thoroughly enjoy and look forward to ALL of your videos. Simply, gooood, solid, and informative information with graphics and explanations. Always looking forward to check your channel for the latest video.👍😃🎣🎣🎣🎣

@@BassFishingHQ yeah so the bass fishing industry is interesting , there are a 1000 of baits for one technique , they all work but the industry my company included likes to make everyone think their bait will do the job . When in reality we all need to focus on theory, and applying the right technique in the right situation, since a lot of baits will get the job done . This is the information I’m interested in , and yur giving us the information this way . Keep it up , thanks

I have graphed channel edges, humps, points etc.. I have only come across schools of bass that look like that on the graph a few times.. honestly idk what I'm doing wrong. Idk if my downscan settings just aren't right, or if maybe i really ain't in the right areas.. I've scanned so many places where bass should be this time of year.. it's always the dead sea. Mainly on Chickamauga. Lol

Good thinking. I’ll make a video about that! Flats can really be some of the best areas on natural lakes during the summer. Sometimes it requires more fishing to find the fish, then graphing

Hey Tyler, do you find bass offshore in some of the lakes in Ohio? I've had trouble finding them in Salt Fork, Seneca, and Alum. Thought maybe water clarity was the reason for them not being off shore
@BassFishingHQ
@BassFishingHQ 3 года назад
Yessir sure do. A lot of times you have to look for cover on structure and if you can catch 2 to 5 fish you are doing something. Sometimes it can be hard to see a lot of fish on your electronics in Ohio, I believe because a lot of fish are on the smaller end. With that being said, there are definitely areas that they will go on those lakes that you can see the schools. I have never fished Seneca though so not sure about that particular lake
@bucknuts8824
@bucknuts8824 3 года назад
@@BassFishingHQ do you look for schools on your electronics in Ohio like you would in other great offshore lakes, or do you just look for cover, and isolated fish? In my experience when I find them schooled, they turn out to be white bass lol
@BassFishingHQ
@BassFishingHQ 3 года назад
@@bucknuts8824 yes I do look for them like I do other lakes. However you don’t seem them all the time stacked up like they do in more traditional lakes. But I have definitely seen them stacked up along the bottom in Ohio lakes and have been able to catch them

Can't imagine how long this would take for me since I don't have side imaging or spot lock...
@BassFishingHQ
@BassFishingHQ 3 года назад
Side imaging would definitely help increase your efficiency out there. My first side imaging unit was a Hummindbird 797 with a 3 inch screen on it and I made it work. I didn’t have spot lock until about a year and a half ago, it is also a huge help but you can make it work without one.

I don't have side imaging or spot lock but do have sonar and down imaging takes time but when I find structure and fish I use buoys to mark structure makes it easier to stay on spots

Today I was out and seen at least 4 new boats with zero electronics on them. Met one chap at the dock on the way off the lake, he asked if I landed any fish I said sure we landed 5 small bass today that was about it. he said they landed nothing. I said where are your electronics? he said he does not believe in fish finders. I said that is why you got zero fish.. Using your electronics is key any time of year. Even a basic 99$ fish finder is better then nothing if you learn to use it...
@BassFishingHQ
@BassFishingHQ 3 года назад
That is true, it doesn't make you a bad fisherman because you use your electronics to locate bass
